At the end when Jaime said "Most people said we shoulda bulldozed this place, but I disagree" that was key. The ability to build something from the ground up and at the very end you step back and say 'this place looks like it's been here the whole time' is something special. The cut nails, reclaimed wood for porch roof, floating stairs, all stunning details. Love it 👊
Some times it makes more $$$ sense to bulldoze and start from scratch. Other times $$$ be damned. Keep with the traditional and rebuild. I believe you always want to keep to traditional. Retain and reclaim.
Hey thanks! I’m pretty sure it was a lot more work than just building a new house from scratch! Definitely has more charm than most houses being built these days though!
@@galvanizedgnome At first I would agree if was a permanent residence. However, they are jumping on the Airbnb bandwagon. So the idea of this being a rebuild and it has history to showcase, I'm guessing, would attract more people to rent it. And judging by the dates booked, it is doing, or will be doing well. Especially at $260 per night.
Such a great job showcasing the value of the trades. Not only can you give new life to this place, you create a museum, a family gathering area, employment and online entertainment! Really great job!
Perfect end to my Sunday. Walked the dog, clean the yard, done home work with the kids, had my Sunday roast dinner, now lay on the sofa watching a new vid from my favourite channel before back to work tomorrow
I feel like we all can be proud of Jamie and the crew for the desire and follow through to preserve this place but bring it in to the 21st century and ready for another 120 years.
Jamie what a great job you and your crew did in rebuilding this house. Too many times old houses are torn down because the cost to rebuild is cost prohibitive. It was nice to see you save this one.
Hello, my name is Omar, I am from Israel. by profession I am a renovation contractor I watch all your videos, every week waiting for the new one. From our tiny country the houses you build look amazing and full of inspiration. The house in Bryson City makes me want to come and visit. Right now it's a dream. Thank you very much and that we will just continue to build 🙏🏼
5 stars guys ✨️ watching all the play list on this renovation is spectacular. Been following you guys for a year and a half seeing all you building work is fantastic. As a fellow builder from the UK building homes in thailand I always refer your videos to my clients so they can see how it should be built . Well done, keep em coming 🙏🙏🙏👌👍🇹🇭
Jaime, you need to start your own channel renovating houses like these! Your online personality and ability just rocks. Thanks for sharing the final completed tour. Can’t wait to see what you do next.
he does have his own channel he just don't upload any videos lol ......I think Jamie don't want to be bother with TH-cam probably why Erik does all TH-cam stuff
Wow, so much work is out to it, I would have never bought that house because it’s so old. God job and God bless you Jaime and Eric Perkins and your family and all who work with you!!!
This would be a complete money pit for someone who was not a contractor - or even for a contractor. But as a contractor, you can absorb some of the building costs. The house looks awesome! I love the way you guys build.
Excellent job rehabilitating that shell of a house. That’s now a gorgeous, well designed home. The transformation is unbelievable. I especially love the loft area.
I especially like the small radius section of rail in the loft. I've just taken up welding and I love it. I'm making all kinds of neat welded stuff in my bus build-out. Great job on the renovation.
I visited Bryson City this past summer and drove by this house several times. I stopped and looked at the exterior and was excited to see just how great it looks in person. Great job to Jamie and the guys. Job well done.
Jamie is a man amongst men standing tall! I love that you restored the house (and didnt doze it) and did an amazing job to boot. Did you do all the interior design? or had a helping hand?
You know I have watched a whole lot of your videos when you're building a new home from start from scratch but when you take an old house pals such as this and you have to strip it and basically rebuild the whole thing and do what you guys have done you guys deserve a big Hand because you guys have done a beautiful expert job I've got to hand it to you you're a little bit of stuff goes a long way it's really gratifying to watch you guys Build something Thank you for the video
Amazing and cool job! Congrats for this remodeling. More videos like this 👌 It is an art working in wood and metal. Others 120 years of live for this home 👏🥇
Intentionally drove by the house today (11/28/23) just to show my wife the results of your work because she thinks I'm crazy for watching all of your videos. Imagine that? The Hazel House looks great!😊
Wonderful job, Jamie and crew! It was the right thing to do to restore it to its former glory. and not just raze it to the ground and build something 2020'ish. Two years? Amazing! And Ashley's beautiful Hazel House sign is the perfect top-off to it all!
My late wife and I had the most delightful visit to this town about 20 years ago . And we ate dinner twice at Theo Thudpuckers place . Lovely town I would love to visit again , but not by myself . Great job !
Great job Jamie. I appreciate watching this reveal more than any of the home reno crap shows out there. This is real craftsmanship as opposed to studio hired labour
Living in Chattanooga, and of course being a long time fan of the channel, I think it’s only right to book a stay an see you all’s craftsmanship in person! Great job Perkins Crew 👏🏽
Great job with the restoration Jaime! The place looks awesome. Good luck with the Air bnb aspect of it. We will pass on the word for folks headed out that way.
You and the whole crew do a spectacular job on all of your projects. As a metal detectorist I especially love the finds display. I remember about 7 years ago, going to Bryson City to take my Grandson on the Polar Express train ride. We actually parked right in front of this house while we did some sight seeing before the train ride. Great job glad to see it restored instead of razed!
Another enthralling series watched. The choices that were made were so sympathetic to the original house it was a joy to watch. Well done to all, so glad I found Perkins Builder Brothers. Thank you for posting this series, much appreciated.
@Perkins Builder Brothers I really appreciate you guys , I absolutely love and enjoy your videos and just retaining and learning from y’all. I’ve been maintaining and running my own small solo contracting business as sort of a reboot from my first one I lost when I was young and going through a divorce.. and I had been dealing with loss and a bunch of tragedy in my life as of late and my only “saving grace” if you want to call it that , has been my nightly routine of coming home and decompressing and binge watching you and your brother do amazing things.. I would give everything to spend even a day on a job site with you guys quite literally, and I would absolutely take full advantage of all the knowledge and experience from y’all and be a sponge. Thank you so much guys ! And great job ! My top 4 is always going to be Perkins builder brothers, stud pack, awesome framers and Kyle with RR buildings
I was fortunate to have walked through this with Brett during the reconstruction. Really amazing to hear all of the little details, all the challenges, and see the care that has gone into preserving a piece of Bryson City.

I've been waiting to see how the staircase turned out. The reveal did not disappoint! It's incredible!
True craftsmanship, inspiring work!

Jamie what a great job you and your crew did in rebuilding this house. Too many times old houses are torn down because the cost to rebuild is cost prohibitive. It was nice to see you save this one.
You saved some serious history. @ years to save over a hundred years!!!
As a young carpenter I appreciate Jamie more and more every episode. He makes me excited to continuing learning
👍👍 Hazel House turned out great.......and it only took 5 times as long as it takes to build a house from the ground up! 😄
I've always been a fan of craftsmanship over efficiency. Job well done.
I was missing the rental reno videos! Thank for the update! Great job Jamie!
House looks amazing. Definitely has old country vibes while not looking shabby. Id def crash in there anytime
What a great job you guys did! Super impressed! Anyone can build new, not many can do old houses right👍
Talk about not giving up on something. That was incredible!
That is a great renovation! I like how you did the 4 foot spacing on the exposed beams. OK I got to get back to laboring. Thanks for the video!
man that is piece of art!!! Wish I was young again to take a different career path.

that shadow box is incredible. historic and a beautiful piece of art.
This would be a complete money pit for someone who was not a contractor - or even for a contractor. But as a contractor, you can absorb some of the building costs. The house looks awesome! I love the way you guys build.

This is really really really amazing. Best house finish I have seen on any channel. Guys you can be extremely proud in what you do and who you are.
I especially like the small radius section of rail in the loft. I've just taken up welding and I love it. I'm making all kinds of neat welded stuff in my bus build-out. Great job on the renovation.

What an amazing place, and such a great display of Jaime's craftmanship. Just stunning. Makes me want to come and visit No. Carolina...
Wow thats a lot of work. Most people would have just demo-ed the whole thing and build from scratch. Awesome
I was in Bryson City in June and got to see just the outside. It looks amazing!
The before and after transformation was amazing, hard work definitely paid off!
Very much enjoyed watching the process and bringing life back to the forgotten past.
Very nice craftsmanship Jamie. Something to leave behind and others to enjoy.
I've watched just about every single one of your videos and this might just be my favorite. That house is magical!!

Beautiful work , love that you used fiberglass, that’s my trade . True craftsmanship boys
I always say it wouldn’t have taken me so long to build this new house if there wasn’t this old house in the way
