This hobby has a nice little community, we watch each other, comment and encourage. Another thank's to you Martin and the rest of the guys ( you know who you are ) who actually have the time , skill and patience to film and edit these film like tutorials for us. It's appreciated.
Thanks for the kind words Steve, yes it's a great community 👍
As usual, superb. The black and chrome grill transforms it.
Thanks very much, Danny it's really appreciated my friend
When I was a kid I had the white Esso tanker and the Army transporter with a Sea King helicopter on the back. These were duly lost in the mists of time. Many years later I came across them again,I couldn't resist so I bought them both. I then went to a toyfair and saw the rest of the AEC's made by Dinky. I subsequently bought all of the over time. I now have the whole lot,all in excellent condition. I also bought all of the original cars for the car transporter. I don't know why but I always had a soft spot for these trucks. I think it was the grille that did it for me. I really enjoyed watching this video, it brought back many memories. Mine are safely tucked up in a box wrapped in paper, one day soon I will get them out and have a "play" again. Well done.
That's great to hear its always nice when you can do that ,so no playing in the garden with them 😀

Thanks very much nick ,it was enjoyable to do thay always come up nice ,all the best Martin
Great restoration
Just to let everyone know, those wheels that flip down to support the trailer when it’s not hooked to the tractor are called, here in the States, landing gear.
Well, the way flip up and down they do look like they belong on an airplane.
Just wanted to share with everyone.
Thanks for the information Robert it's greatly appreciated my friend
Brilliant job Martin ,looks lovely with the details highlighted. I do sometimes carried away too and touching the car with the silver on my fingers, that's annoying, I'm glad you were able to clean that off.cheers Laz
Cheers laz it's really appreciated my friend
Would look better with BRS decals.Nice resto,Martin.I have a AEC tractor like this, mated to a Corgi flatbed which is longer, and finished in BRS colours.
Thanks Terry, yes I think your right, the BRS logo would have been better .all the best Martin
Great job Martin
Thanks very much my friend
Very nice!
Thanks lee
the bloke next door had a haulage business he had about ten of these aught me and his son to drive them i mst have been about twelve no health and safety in those days about 1966 happy days.
Excellent, I bet you had fun all good memories, glad you liked this one
Truck looks terrific, but I never understood the Dinky white trailers! Who TF paints a trailer white in UK weather? Bonkers. I was sure you were going to Code3 that old girl, but it looks fine and dandy nonetheless, Martin! Loved the misogynist comments on the March 1 airing of the static van - you'd not get away with that anywhere else - but it is fundamentally correct, and I love it! The truck turned out superbly! And your French has improved immeasurably!
Cheers fraser, no code 3 on this one because it's the only one I have.
All the best Martin
A++
Thanks very much my friend
Hi mate, I love the front on this one the black really makes it pop and it's a nice shade of red. I hope it wasn't too hard getting that silver off the roof I can't remember what thinner that Molotow uses. It's warming up here again 31-up to 37 next week thank goodness we have AC in our cars. Now...... My mate Steve's throat closed off and he had to be rushed to hospital. To feed him they had to put a hose with a funnel on the end up his bottom. While I was visiting him the tea lady came around and ask Steve if he wanted a cup of tea. He nodded yes so she poured the tea into the funnel. Steve let out an awful scream 😲😖AWWWWWG. The tea lady said oh my goodness was it too hot? Steve grabbed a note pad and scribbled......NO SUGAR!😂😂🤣🤣 Catch you on the next one mate.👍🏻
🤣🤣🤣Nice one I like it ,thanks very much my friend
Work of art mate ,that AEC rad and light arrangement reminds me of the regent 5 buses in Margate as a kid they too had that big AEC grill as a small child I nicked named them blokes ??? God knows why 😂😂😂
Cheers mate
Mark 😊😊
Cheers Mark, yes I saw those grills when I was doing a it of research thay looked great 👍 all the best Martin
looks great again. funny how far that red fades out... some paints are not really lightfast. :) like these pink matchbox capris.
spoider mate, spoider mate, doing ev'rything a spoider can... wait, that doesn't rhyme. :P
🤣 cheers Lothar it's surprising how the red fades, similar to the older vauxhall real cars and vans I have seen ,all the best Martin
Hi there Martin i made a mistake i thought when you said about the AEC flat bed, i thought you was going to stretch the chassis of the AEC unit . Know i see the video im such an idiot yeah ive got 2 of them, but now thinking about it it would make a nice rigid AEC right going to watch the video.
Ralph
Thanks Ralph, iam working upto doing some code 3 work, so I will get there my friend
I didn't realise that the metal grille was replaced with a sticker 😯 shock.
Gonna have to dig out my AECs to inspect. I think that I have six in various guides?
Thanks Rob, I think the ones without jewelled head lights had the sticker grill.all the best Martin
@@martindaredare Matin. I have found one with the sticker grille with an ever so faint AEC badge on there. It's a BRS tractor unit with the dropside trailer. I think that I give six quid for it a while since. Minus a tail gate and canopy. Not the end of the world. Main one is metallic blue Silcock car transporter with yellow Hoyner trailer. That's all complete with metal grill. 😄
That's great now you can see the difference
Nicely done Martin, looks much better.👏👏👏👏How did you get the silver off the top of the cab without ruining the red paint?👍👍😉
Thanks, Al luckily, because it had a good gloss coat it rubbed off witch saved the day ,all the best Martin
I just started to watch your videos.
Will you be using a airbrush in the future .
Keep up with the great work
Hi Colin, on occasion, I do use the air brush on Diecast, but mostly on my scale models. Thanks for watching. it's much appreciated, my friend
Fantastic work Martin looks amazing well done 👍
Thanks very much Paul
