My absolute favorite was when he was with Ricky Gervais where David skewered his own bicep and had Ricky touch the metal skewer as it came out. Ricky legit just about crapped himself...
It's fascinating, every time I hear a David Blane interview he makes it sound like everyone can do it if he just trains enough, sometimes I'm not sure if he is aware that he is actually special. I swear, unless there is some absolute voodoo thing somewhere that I don't know about, I could train mind over body until I collapse and I could never do the things he does.
This may be the most I've ever seen Sean thrown off his game. Not in a bad way, but in like a pure reverent way. He was in awe of how David took everything. And when DB did the magic trick, it was like we got to watch what Sean was like as a kid...his smile was so genuine. Bravo for the first guest!!
I know right! Seeing him giggling uncontrollably when the pepper was cut open, so genuine it eliminates the chance of the trick being scripted. David Blaine is something else!
@@Amadeus2054 I think I have it figured out. The card was pre-selected by David. He had 2 other cards like it already torn the exact same way and put into the peppers, probably through the stem that was glued back on. David used mind tricks to have Sean pick that card by having it already presented out then asked back and forth to make it seem like Sean actually picked the card. The card was already pre-torn or perforated to have that shape. David actually ate the card then had both peppers with a backup card. That is why it took David longer to chew his pepper because it had part of a card in it too. The trick comes from the illusion of choice that Sean thought he had when picking cards.

I couldn’t stop laughing this whole episode. David calmly describing eating a Carolina reaper as amazing while Sean coughs a lung up. One of the funniest moments I’ve seen hahahah
David Blaine is the most incredible magician I have ever seen. Definitely on my bucket list to see one of his shows or be a part of his street magic. That would be amazing
The pepper didn't go into his stomach... lol just like the card that was swallowed... it probably went into another dimension from david blaines magic lol
What's amazing is once he goes into his performance persona, it's like a different person. One who seemingly can exert complete control over his body with his mind. So was he just affecting the reactions to the spicy during the wings?
David Blaine really has that laid back super chill vibe while at the same time he is really passionate about his craft and stories. Such a great personality.
As someone who has only ever seen David in "Performance mode" on specials and clips, I was pleasantly surprised at how happy and excited he was throughout this interview. Showed a very different side to him and made me smile the entire time. What a great season opener guest.
I came here to say the same thing. I was expecting him to be dour and mysterious, seeing this smiling dude chatting it up was a cool change of pace. Seems like a chill guy.
David is in performance mode 24/7. That's what makes him such a brilliant man. He's always so self aware. He has a full Joe Rogan podcast available to listen to. I highly recommend.
Getting a reaction is his favorite part. You get to watch people become kids again. He touched on that a bit in the anecdote about practicing for his mother; he didn't say he wanted to see what he could do, instead it was about what he could amaze her with next.
We all knew David would crush this... but wow. He exceeded my wildest expectations. He might be the only person on this planet who continues to exceed my expectations. Like, with any normal person, they would impress you, and then your expectations would increase, so they couldn't surpass them again... but David never ceases to exceed. Incredible human being.
David was the best guest yet, makes me sad for the people we've lost who I know would've been so entertaining on here, I think had Robin Williams been here today, He would've loved this and been a guest and made us die with laughter at his experience and quips. We need more Hot Ones!

Wow. I am in utter awe. David's energy is really something else. I was so enthralled and smiling the whole time. Sean's reaction to that trick was hilarious. I don't think I've ever seen anyone laugh at a magic trick like that. This may be my new favorite episode.
Agreed. I've seen him perform on late night shows a number of times, but he's always quite obviously performing in a way that is meant to highlight the trick, which works well for him, but it's very flat affect, deliberate and slow speaking, and it's so fascinating to see him participating in something that feels natural and almost giddy at times, like when he's talking about being a kid at Tannen's.
I'm really glad he brought up that kid who said "cool." I watched that magic special as a kid with my mom, and we both absolutely loved his reaction. It's cool to hear that he fought to keep it in.

The control David has over his outward reactions is amazing, his body sure as heck shows the heat - theres no escaping that. But UNFLINCHING thru the whole thing. What a great episode. 10/10 he has to be back on again
It’s due to his ability to tolerate physical pain. Once you get used to the idea “I’m not going to die or be actually hurt this is just a mental thing” you can do it too. I USED to have it to a degree with hot foods but I don’t eat em much now so I probably would have to relearn it
I love all the layers coming together. Finished the gauntlet, with extra dab, mind blown with magic, eating a reaper, and seeing David not even react to the pepper? Incredible!
Dudes a freak of nature absolutely incredible. Still maintaining his professionalism even through an unfathomable amount of heat. That was fun to watch.
It's definitely faked. The human body reacts to high scoville beyond your control. Anyone would be tearing up and snotting from eating a raw carolina reaper, let alone hot sauce filled with it's extract.

As long as a camera is on he is in magic man mode. He literally lives his act. And it is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.
David is by far the best guess they have ever had on the show, you can just tell he loved this experience just as much as Shawn
did
Tied with Dave Grohl for me.
@@Jordan-iw1ih that is also a good one.
what about stone cold steve austin!!!!
Blaine was awesome. Felt like he asked to be on the show rather than being asked to be on the show. Obviously not the case but that’s how you be a great guest.
This was good but Gordon Ramsay was the episode I like best so far..😁
Dude the fact that David didn't even flinch a little bit after eating the reaper is beyond impressive. Truly a master of magic and mind over matter. Love him. Great episode.
Maybe he magiced himself a red bell pepper that LOOKED like a reaper.... 😂

Never get into a pepper eating contest with a magician...for all we know David some how put both peppers into the Sean's mouth.
The childlike joy on Sean’s face at the end was one of the best moments in Hot Ones history.
I think this is one of my favorite episodes. Sean was in the hot seat without even realizing it.
I like how David Blaine just being himself and having a good time makes everyone else happy. Speaks volumes about him

He's absolutely a role model to humankind.
Fantastic first guest of the season!!!!
My absolute favorite was when he was with Ricky Gervais where David skewered his own bicep and had Ricky touch the metal skewer as it came out. Ricky legit just about crapped himself...

First time Sean struggled more than the guest, wow! Blaine has mastered dealing with pain, mind over body. What a great episode!
Guy Fieri and SteveO also beat Sean.
And lorde. Lol it’s happened a few times

I don't think Halle Barry "beat" Sean but she didn't break a sweat, and I don't think she touched her drink either. She was just straight hungry
HOW DID HE DO THAT
👏👏
