@@SegaDisneyUniverse Grodus isn't that hard, it's probably more so because Bowser happens in the same sequence. I would always make sure I leveled up after fighting Grodus. But yeah, now we know that you can basically beat him super easily.
To point out also: If you decide to attack Grodus's staff, this does not count towards his total HP. So you yourself are forgoing a round to make him forgo that same turn.
For real, I had this game for almost 20 years and just now learned that you can burn out his staff with Fire Drive! I could've saved myself so many deaths if I knew that trick as a kid!
This is goddamn wild. I never knew you could do that. I didn’t use fire drive much as a kid, but then again, I sucked at this game xD I want to replay it now that I’m learning so much more about it
Owned this game for nearly all of my life and I never knew you could hit the scepter. I love this title. Edit: And a rock can fall from the ceiling, too?! A Shy Guy somewhere needs to be fired.
Wasn't even trying. I tend to hit Poison Bingos all the time without trying, but no one ever gets to see them because I don't typically show failed attempts.
Isn't Fire Drive's base damage like 5 anyways? So considering Grodus's 1 defense, you only need +1 attack to stunlock Grodus like this, while base damage still nearly guarantees a lost turn.
I honest to God think that the scepter + fire drive interaction is a leftover from development that was accidentally left in. AFAIK, no other attacks/items in the game can target or hit the scepter, making this a ridiculously obscure interaction. You can't manually target the scepter, and no other spread attacks hit it.
This is amazing I've been playing this game for forever and never knew about this...Would you be open to a new challenge run idea? I'm currently going through a 99 DEF run for all enemies and I want to see how you can optimize it. It's been really fun so far! I've posted the two chapter 2 boss fights on my channel if you want to check it out. Love your videos and keep up the ridiculous no superguard strats!
I said this in another video but I'm going to say it again, the fact that this exploit is a thing really is stupid and really makes question how policed this game really is.
Me, with my very limited knowledge of TTYD: "Wait, why is he using those poison shroms on-"
*Sees Yoshi reach exactly 1HP*
"Ah. I see. Peril strats."
When in doubt, Mega Rush spam
Mario lives dangerously. He whipped out those poison shrooms like it was nothing.
@@thatguy4747 Is it really that dangerous when he's preventing all of the opponent's attacks?
He also has double pain equiped
That's pretty rad. I never knew you can burn out his staff. He's pretty much useless without it.
I know right?! I was like WTF?! If I had known that trick as a kid playing this, I would had saved myself a thousand deaths lol!

I'm honestly mad I never used Fire Drive in any of my playthroughs... Never knew it was this useful and OP against so many things
I really overused it...
you . . . can hit the staff?
. . .
What???
What????
What????
What???
What???
I never knew he was weak to the fire drive or that he had a second hurtbox. When I get here in the LP I’m showing this.
Holy crude! I didn't know the scepter had a weakness to fire drive! Amazing upload! Even after all this time, I'm still learning something new!
TheMistermastermario
Kinda seems like a weakness in a different sense, no?
Its not weak. It is vulnerable to fire drive attacks
If it was weak against fire drive, it'd take extra damage

@@SegaDisneyUniverse Jump works.
@@leoleo4469 It does?! Good to know!😆
Two stage situations in one turn! It's trying to kill you.
I mean this is cool and all, but can I mention the crowd is going absolutely nuts the entire time
Just found out 6:32 is an incredibly rare stage hazard.
Wowsers, I've never seen it! Prob cause it's rare xD
I remember experiencing a giant bowser statue falling on top of Mario once and then never again, I assume is also ludicrously rare.
"The fire hazard is that rare? I don't know, that happens pretty- OH"
I got it quite often. Occasionally it would happen in game too.
It happened to Fatguy703 twice during his blindfolded Shadow Queen video.
Its gonna be a Hot one on the Thousand Year Door Tonight
I am so glad I found you bro I didn't see all my years that I would find somebody still playing paper Mario thousand Year door
Man, Fire Drive really is OP, isn't it?
Leaving Mario waiting on Fire Drive for 100 Years is Perfectly Acceptable.

Theres allot of us actually!
I actually used Fire Drive WAY too much. Constantly ran low on FP due to that.
This stage is out for BLOOD. How many resets to Poison Shrooms maxing your HP out by the way?
Four maybe? It was ridiculous. I swear it's not even 20% heal, more like 50%

What the hell is *THAT?!*
The stage itself is out for blood!
nah is just a meteor casually passing by the stage
Lmao
I had no fucking clue goddamn meteors could come into the stage
@@Magicdfox This happened to me loads of times out of the 15 years I had this game! 😆
The fact that you always tend to bring yourself down to 1 hp to do these fights is what scares me more than the calculated damage output...
How is the audience giving you so much Star Power and having it last that long? I've never seen that before
Correct. You can read more about it here: supermariofiles.wordpress.com/2013/01/19/now-youre-playing-with-star-power/
GRODUS: GAAACK! NO MORE! NO MORE! JUST DON'T TORTURE ME OR STOMP ME AGAIN!
I love how there's a bunch of X-Naut soldiers in the audience.
Getting those perfect superguards at the stage RNG is absolutely insane!!!
GRODUS: AAACK! I'M BURNING! AND TOO MUCH STAMPEDE'S!
Staff is life. Literally.
Is it weird ive never seen the orange Yoshi before?
Ttyd if it was any other rpg 💀💀💀
What was that stage hazard at 6:32?
it's clearly a pretty big stone that really hates mario and their partner.
Sander Hankel I’ve played through the game multiple times and never seen that one
THE MOON 🌑
Planetary devastation
It’s an extremely rare thing that can only happen on the stage you get for being level 30 or higher
Nice showcase!
Interesting!
Holy shit you actually got a BINGO! for once lmao

Wait so can you attack the staff on its own?
Yes, with Headbonk/Multibonk/Body Slam/Ground Pound/Mario's Jumps (and maybe Hammer Throw?)
YOU CAN GALE FORCE HIS X’s?!
Isn't Fire Drive's base damage like 5 anyways? So considering Grodus's 1 defense, you only need +1 attack to stunlock Grodus like this, while base damage still nearly guarantees a lost turn.
Fire Drive pierces defense, meaning it will do 5 damage no matter how much defense Grodus has.
Holy Star Power!!!!
TIL you can hit the scepter
also those last two attacks
6:33 What the heck is that?! I never seen that appear in the game before!
That’s a meteor that the stage rarely uses to damage both Mario and his enemies.
