Our final expeditions episode is here :( we have arrived in our last spot - Hoi An. Here we spent a few days exploring one of the most beautiful cities here in Vietnam - also known as the city of Lanterns.
After doing the Hai Van Pass from Hue down to Hoi Ann (absolutely stunning by the way) we checked into our hotel and headed out to explore the city.
First stop was picking up group hats, before going out onto the river to celebrate the lantern festival that takes place every full moon.
The next day we were on the hunt for some local dishes - we tried the famous Banh Mi and coconut coffee.

On our second last day we held a workshop day with everyone on the expeditions, teaching them everything we know about running a successful TH-cam channel, travelling full time and how we started doing this.
On our final day we headed out onto the rice fields by bikes before stopping off at a local farm to learn how the majority of the population of Vietnam works and lives, before learning how to cook our own Vietnam pancakes.
We just wanted to say thank you to everyone for making this trip unforgettable :)

I have had Banh Mi many times right here in Toronto. They are $2-$3 each now. I started eating them back when they were 50¢ each. Love them.

What a great trip, enjoyed all the series and Bahn Mi is very good, we had a Vietnamese restaurant here and he made very good ones ,but alas he a passed away, I ate there often.. Travel Safe..

What did you think of the coconut coffee? I think I enjoyed the egg coffee much more, as the coconut version was a bit too sour for me but still interesting.

The one thing that most people don't notice about banh mi is what the bread is actually made of. It's one part wheat flour like most bread, but there's also rice flour mixed in as well. It's the addition of rice flour that changes changes the texture to a softer interior with a flakier crust. It'll never really catch on, but they should just translate banh mi to rice bread, since that's a better description of what it is.
