These are the credits on this song:
      *Monochrome*
      Lyrics : MK-METAL
Music & Arrangement : YUPPEMETAL (aka Yuyoyuppe) he's the one behind songs like Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Megitsune and Kagerou, so if you liked any of those songs no wonder you love this one too, he knows his business and totally rocks.🦊🤘🔥

@@jakemuller8626 As well as this song, MK-METAL (Mikii Watanabe) was involved with lyrics for 'Megitsune', 'Gimme Chocolate!!', 'Awadama Fever', 'YAVA!', 'Amore', 'No Rain, No Rainbow', 'Brand New Day' and 'Kagerou'.

The pop is back! And that's not a complaint. The pop production has been blended so precisely and tightly with the metal instrumentation on these two new singles. It hits like metal, feels like a rock anthem, and hooks like pop. I'm not really saying anything too surprising here -- this mix is the whole gimmick of the band, after all. It's just nice to hear the masters back at work after a few years. One thing I particularly like in this song is the amazing use of rests (musical rests, not naps).

I'm glad to see more and more reactors are liking this song, the first wave yesterday weren't so keen to this new single, but you clearly know and have some musical knowledge.
They're using the Norse mythology to narrate one of most horrible tragedies in the humankind history, Hiroshima and Nagasaki suffered this monochrome "fireworks" but she's giving us hope that if this war or any other sad moment (like the recent pandemic) is happening nowadays, the colors will be back.🦊🤘🌈
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this new BM single. Kitsune up and see you next time.🦊🤘

    Being a long-timer follower, it’s not officially a complete BabyMetal drop until there’s a Chainsaw reaction. 💪🏻
I see this song as a festival favorite, with crowds doing the callbacks. Probably why it was one of the early releases to get the fans ready for the upcoming shows.

Can't wait to see a live performance with Kami Band backing, choreography, and Moa singing this one with Su.
As several commenters have suggested, it helps to have the context that Su was born in Hiroshima, and lived there until she was thirteen.
She was very surprised when she moved to the Tokyo area, and the anniversary of the bombing wasn't even mentioned on the news, let alone a moment of silence.

  • @road-runner

    Great reaction, thanks!
Although I prefer "Divine Attack" musically, this one shocked me lyrically. It has some dark references to the end of the world or "Ragnarök" from the Norse mythology and also to their own song "No rain no rainbow". But not only to the song but also to the "kamishibai" (animated intro) narrated bu Su-metal from the concert "Legend S" performed in 2017 in Hiroshima, her hometown and it's about the tragic consequences of the nuclear blast. And it looks like the visuals of this video really points to this interpretation.
The final image of the only tree alive is probably related to the survivor tree or "Hibakujumoku". But it's also the typical form of the "Yggdrasil" (again from the Norse mythology), a sacred tree representing the link among the 9 different worlds. And that is linked to the main theme of their concept album: the 10 parallel worlds they discovered during their journey through the Metal Galaxy.
    Until next time!

Great reaction. I know nothing about Ragnarok or the Norse mythology being referenced but there do also seem to be references to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, even if it is not specifically about those tragic events. The "monochrome firework" could be the bomb and the tree they used in the visuals throughout and that was finally shown in colour at the end could be the Hiroshima Peace Tree that survived the bombing as well as the tree from Norse mythology.

On the subreddit someone broke down a bunch of the apparent Hiroshima-related imagery in the song and one of the Japanese members of the fandom confirmed that the reference is not at all subtle from their perspective.

Me too! I don't realize it myself, but apparently, Yuyoyuppe (Yuppe Metal)'s music seems to be to my tastes...
Is beautiful melody in characteristic of Japanese rock? I remember that Kanami from B-M also said she is always aware of this.. But I guess it may lack some power at the same time, and some people may feel it's not enough...
    Thank you from Japan.

It seems I am one of the few who loved this song right off the gate. Perhaps I do prefer the Yuyoyuppe written BM songs, I must check his discography then. On second thought it may not really matter since I like all BM songs, well except Uki-Uki haha

The album is about different worlds they discover. This one has a dying star, and you can see the planet's atmosphere stripped in the visuals. It's cold, raining, and dying, and they believe it will be reborn.

  • @SkpalTube

Great reaction. Personally, I love this more than Divine Attack. Su has a calm sweetness, almost a tinge of sadness in her voice. The song is dark, yet at the end gives us hope of a more colourful future. The 'monochrome firework' is a reference to the nuclear bomb, with the lone tree surviving is a symbol of resilience. This song is thematically comparable to No Rain No Rainbow.

You're right about it being more difficult to predict where a Babymetal song is going to go and I think that's why i sometimes don't like a song the first time I listen to it. I'm subconsciously trying to predict but it doesn't go the way I anticipated so it I'm semi- disappointed. When I listen from that point on, I listen to it a it is and naturally allow it to take me where it wants to go instead of me trying to lead it my direction. So I love it after that.
I really like the song but if I wanted to find a reason to criticize... I'd say it's a little too much conventional pop. It's done really well but I like their jpop flavor better. Still, Su's voice makes everything sound amazing..

  • @raycollins511
    @raycollins511 ปีที่แล้ว +14

you have watched it. now go back and watch it again watching the lyrics. look at the visuals and what it is trying to show us. this is all about the bombing of Hiroshima with the atomic bomb. the black rain. the imagery of the bomb dropping. the tree at the end is the tree that actual survived the bombing. in the middle of all the destruction you have this tree standing there like it should not be there but it was almost giving hope. when you know the meaning and then watch the visuals now, you will appreciate this song even more. it will touch you on a spiritual level.

    • @koka191
      @koka191 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes that's right
the building was not broken before 1:11 seconds
The building was broken after the explosion at 1:11 seconds
Monochrome fireworks = not really there
1:24 seconds bombs are dropped and the city is destroyed
      'Seven-colored dreams coloring the sky
I wanted to watch it like this for a long time."
This means that the daily life up to that point has been destroyed.
      That leads to these words
I don't know what to say.
