Aaaw snap, you done it now, you tripped and fell into the Fox Hole, forever… haha.
Babymetal is an international powerhouse rocking crowds since 2010 when they were 12 / 11 years old. Lead is Su-metal, flanked by Moametal and Momometal, backed by the Kami Band for all their live shows.
    If you enjoy collabs:
1). Metali ft Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine
2). Pa Pa Ya!! Ft F.Hero (Thai rapper)
3). Brand New Day ft guitar parts from Tim Hansen and Scott LePage of Polyphia
4). Distortion (album version) ft. Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy
5). Road of Resistance with Dragonforce co writing guitars.
6). Oh Majinai ft. Joakim Broden of Sabaton.
Babymetal has also performed Judas Priest covers with Rob Halford himself, and with Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers on the drums when BM supported RHCP on a UK tour. Korn also hopped on stage with Babymetal too.
    Look forward to more Babymetal!!

@@LegionzAnime Road of Resistance (Official) from their TH-cam channel is, in my opinion, one of Babymetal's best live performances of all time. It is from Jan 2015's New Year Fox Festival. You will get a true sense of Babymetal in all their glory! (Also keep in mind, they were 17 / 15 then)

They're incredible dude. Just paid $250 for myself and a friend to see them in the 2nd to last row in the upper deck. My third time, first for him. Originally I saw them thinking it'd be a joke.
I've toured, done Warped Tour, seen 1000s of sets, and I went home from my first time seeing them wondering if it was the best concert I'd ever seen. It's absolutely the best act in live music right now, I'm back to being all about them and listening a little bit like every day.
EDIT - some awesome live bangers:
    - Babymetal Death (it's their opener, gets me so pumped every time)
    - Road to Resistance
    - Starlight
You're on your way friend, the Fox Gods are watching over you now.

      @mitchellhodgemeyer7306 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Good picks. For my money, From Dusk Till Dawn is BABYMETAL's best track. It is an ethereal, moody masterpiece with perfect production, and Su-Metal's vocals on that are so high and amazing that they hit like synth keyboard notes. The really annoying thing is that the track is CRIMINALLY underrated and barely mentioned in comparison with other more known tracks - which is weird considering that it's one of BABYMETAL's few tracks also sung entirely in English.
And Tales of the Destinies of course is prog metal perfection in it's own right.

    • @ThePsychosocialite
      @ThePsychosocialite ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@mitchellhodgemeyer7306 I agree. To me From Dusk til Dawn is one of Su's most vocally powerful songs, with No Rain No Rainbow being her at her most emotionally powerful. Most of my fav Babymetal tracks are the ones hardly performed: Amore, FDTD, Yava!, Akatsuki, Sis Anger, Shine and Syncopation to name a few that don't get the love they deserve.

  • @armitage9
    @armitage9 ปีที่แล้ว +25

Good reaction. Welcome to the crazy universe of BabyMetal.
BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin.
Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.).
One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born.
The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads.
And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them.
And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did).
In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on TH-cam (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting.
But the success of BabyMetal on TH-cam and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example.
How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. .
But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one."
And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well.
They currently have 4 albums on the market:
-Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. Headbangers is from this album.
-Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West.
-Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems)
And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases)
Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ).
The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole.

Yeah dude, as someone who became a fan a few months back. Babymetal is a gargantuan rabbit hole. One I would argue is akin to a “red pill” in the metal scene. Many have heard their name and may even have scene some of their performances, but few look any further into them beyond the surface. Either way, for those that get hooked by Babymetal, they do kind of undergo a deconstruction of what defines “metal” and for many including myself, the process is almost akin to a religious experience. Kind of crazy.

Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 This song was one in the setlist that was performed in their North American tour with DETHKLOK (29 gigs in USA & Canada). They performed in your state as well at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on Sep.14 this year. Bostonians did, of course, a good job in the ♪oh oh ooh ♪ part holding their phones. 😄
BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover) We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)

FYI Babymetal was formed when the lead singer was 12 years old and the other two were 11. they created their own genre kawaii(cute) metal. you can not put them in a box because as soon as you do they will do something different. they have mixed like 25 different genres of metal and rock and made it their own. Kingslayer is the name of the song they did with BMTH. they have never done this live yet so don't be fooled by a video showing them live because it is a fake. also another recent song is with Tom Morrello from Rage Against the Machine, Metali. all their new stuff is good. before you dive into them maybe do a reaction to a video showing the history of Babymetal up til 2020, a guide to Babymetal by Cryptic Misery. do the 45 minute one not the shorter one. Su, the lead singer is to me one of the best front people period. even at a young age she can control the crowd. Su can do any genre and make it good. rap, edm, techno, latin, pop, rock, viking, cute, heavy, fun. you name it. she can do it. to see how good she is, now that you watched a live version of Monochrome, now do the piano version from the channel The First Take. same song. totally different feeling.

This was filmed at two sets of concerts earlier this year in Japan in January and April. I was at both sets of concerts and they were amazing; January was the world premiere live performance of this song, as they had just returned from an 18 month hiatus. The crowd were 15,000 each night for the January shows and 10,000 each night for the April shows.
The lead singer is Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto), the one you thought was beautiful (and she is) is Moametal (Moa Kikuchi), and the girl on the left side is Momometal (Momoko Okazaki). Their backing band for live shows is called the "Kami Band"; they were wearing oni masks.

Great reaction! Welcome to the wonderful world of happy metal that is BABYMETAL!
To see them powering up, watch the official MV for "Karate".
Their manifesto song stating they will not be pigeon-holed into any one style or genre, "Iine!" (with a capitol i, not Line!"), again the official MV to get the full mind-blowing effect.
"Headbangeeeer!!!!" Live at Legend 1997 (1997 being lead singer Su-metal's birth year. The show was in 2013 for her 16th birthday).
Then the same song live at the Legend M show where Moametal takes lead for the second half of the song for her 20th birthday. (a.k.a "Moabanger")
"Road of Resistance" Live in Japan official MV.
"Ijime, Dame, Zettai" Live at Sonisphere 2014.
That will get you started. There is no such thing as a bad BABYMETAL song as each is crafted to perfection before being released. No fillers and no throw-aways, and every song is different, so always be prepared to expect the unexpected and always watch the video to the very end or you might miss something.
As you noticed, a Babymetal show is not a spectator event. The audience participates fully with almost every song and the energy is always 120%, especially at the big Japan arena shows like this one.

Welcome to the foxhole. Nice reaction. The lead singer is Su-metal. The one you mentioned was beautiful yeah could describe all of them. But you said the one on the right, is Moametal. The one on Su-metals left is Momometal the new member who got promoted from backup dancer from their last tour. And when Su asked if Moametal and Momometal could see the lights. It's the first time we get to hear Momoko get called Momometal. Kawaii. And I think most fans would agree with you that they are very in synch with each other. They do choreography for every song they perform. And every once in a while, we do get to see them freely dance without it. This is Babymetal so I suggest starting at the beginning and working you way through their songs. That way you can grow with them. Literally since they started so very young. How young? Oh you'll see. Enjoy the journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.

I loved watching this, thank you for doing such a fantastic job and sharing this. You could spend years reacting to various live performances and studio work by them, and still find new reasons to love the band each time; they are a phenom, nothing like them. I look forward to seeing more as you go!
my suggestions (and really the only advice I would give is to find live versions of their work, or if you decide to react to studio versions do a comparison to live, they are 9/10 for studio work 10/10 live).
Some older classics I'd suggest - you can search any of these on youtube to find good versions to react to:
Babymetal - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (Su-Metal owns an audience, amazing music)
BabyMetal - Headbanger Live Legend 1997 (Legend 1997 refers to lead singer Su-Metal birthyear, this concert is her 16th birthday, its great)
Babymetal - Akatsuki「紅月 -アカツキ-」| LIVE at Budokan Black Night (Su-Metal solo)
Babymetal - MEGITSUNE「メギツネ」(Five Fox Festival ver.)
(Note, for this particular version try to make sure it lists "red fox festival live" audio, it was a one night concert for women/girls only, the song has a strong theme of women empowerment, its brilliant to listen to the audience interaction parts)
BabyMetal - Death Legend 1997 Apocalypse Live (heavy metal theater) --this one probably get through at least a half dozen others first, it is insane and much better if you already have an idea in your head of who Babymetal is.

Since you are an Anime and Japanese fan, slap yourself for missing out. The lead singers first band did songs for an Anime when she was like 9 years old. The one with the hand mic is the lead singer, the other 2 have headpiece mics cuz they dance a lot more. Moa-Metal is on the right and yeah so damn pretty, she can make my heart skip a beat sometimes. Moa is very emotional and will cry sometimes, she is known as the Angel of Love. At concerts, everyone in the crowd knows Moa loves them and that really helps people with emotional problems, they learn that at least one person loves them.

2 suggestions - F1rst Take, "Monochrome" piano ver. Same song only very different. Now something earlier - "Headbanger" Legend of 1997 from 2013. You are not going to believe the crowd interaction. Fun Fact - Su's birthday was the day before the concert, she turned 16.
Babymetal was created in 2010, Su was 12 and Yui and Moa were 11.

I had the incredible chance to see them live in September, and that interlude during Monochrome where Su takes a moment to engage directly with the crowd and allow us to give them something back was so beautiful. And then you remember: that beautiful moment was smack in the middle of a metal concert. If there is only one thing Babymetal do well, it's the presence on stage to set a tone of joy, hope, and a simple cocktail of everything that beautiful about humanity.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐
Huge Persona fan here, and iirc the background music was from Persona 4, that was my first introduction, love that game. Didn't play P5R yet but i did the vanilla the day it was launched, probably you're talking about "Rivers In The Desert", that's an awesome song but I'm not sure since that song it's more close to a MJ song vibes for me, anyway, both are great songs.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    - SuMetal, lead vocalist, now 25.
    - MoaMetal, scream and dance, now 23.
    - MomoMetal, scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently.
    - YuiMetal, scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
All of us are captivated by SuMetal voice, she really pierce into our souls with this unique talent.
This original song is more like hard rock and is one of the highlights when performing live like recently during all comcerts performed at World Tour.
BMTH and BM are very good friends since a very long time ago and that 2020 collab with Kingslayer was unavoidable and one of the best so far, BMTH gonna held a festival in Japan at the end of this month called "Next Fest" and BM will also be there along with Maximum The Hormone, I Prevail, Yoasobi, Paledusk and many more bands and artists. There's some hope they're gonna performed together Kingslayer but like BM said: Only The Fox God Knows.
I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get more clips from early era safe to react if YT allows me to do it. Meanwhile next suggestion:
    - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip under "Head Bangya" title.
Hope to see you next time with more BM songs. 🦊🤘🌈

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions:
      - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast.
      th-cam.com/video/LNFiDWJh2FA/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo.
      th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html
      - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997.
      th-cam.com/video/nwsinmxTxbo/w-d-xo.html
      - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one.
      th-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/w-d-xo.html
      - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/w-d-xo.html
      - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do.
      th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html
      - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs.
      th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html
      - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
      th-cam.com/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/w-d-xo.html
      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.
      th-cam.com/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/w-d-xo.html
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
      th-cam.com/video/ESzY9dL613Q/w-d-xo.html
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.
      th-cam.com/video/1dT1ywYR5So/w-d-xo.html
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/w-d-xo.html
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.
      th-cam.com/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/w-d-xo.html
      - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official, this one is easily to find but be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.
      th-cam.com/video/M8FKumvh-w8/w-d-xo.html
Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
      - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.
      th-cam.com/video/Hg0Rylcg8F0/w-d-xo.html
This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list.

      - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo. "BabyMetal Fans Ecuador" and "アカツキBabymetal" got the Black Night version (the safest one)
      - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014. "Kawaii Metal" got this.
      - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997. There's a widescreen with subtitles version at "Kitsune Sama".
      - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one. You can find this with the introduction translated at "GuilhermeCait".
      - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do.
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this clip with a short interview intro.
      - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. GuilhermeCait got it safe to react.

      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live. "Kitsune Sama" got this version.
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 is the choice at "Kawaii Metal".
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal. "Gans Tomas" got this.
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, then live at Budokan 2014 is the best choice at "BM REMASTERED".
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts. "BABYMETAL FANS ECUADOR" got this one.
      - Distortion, live at Download Festival 2018 or Rock Am Ring 2018, this is from Metal Galaxy 3rd album and is a safe jump to that BM era way different than the rest and without YuiMetal.
Ok that's it for now, just remember that I'm not saying those are the best version of their songs, all I'm saying those are the safest to react while conserving decent quality on video and sound. There's certainly better versions at BMRR (Reactor Resource) such those from 2015 and 2016, so remember to check it out that alternatively, although those will certainly need watermarked logo at least, so look for "Future Plans" short vid and follow instructions to get the full spreadsheet, trust me is easy and safe to get there.
Here's some "undercover" titles songs you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), (look in the description for clean version):
      - "Angry Sis", original title is "Sis Anger" live at Tokyo Dome 2016.
      - "Y_A_V_A" original title is "YAVA!" live at Big Fox Festival 2017 with Kami Band intro (this one is tricky so take more precautions).
      - "Dis-tor-tion" original title: "Distortion" live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020
      - "G J" original title is "GJ!" live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.
      - "TOTD" original title is "Tales Of The Destinies" live at Tokyo Dome 2016, leave this song along with "The One" after hearing a couple of more songs and traveling a little bit more of this journey, both songs are tied together so watch this one first.
      - "Hilarious Midnight", original title is "Uki Uki Midnight" live at New Year Fox Festival 2015.
      - "Line", original title is "Iine!" live at Saitama Super Arena 2015.
      - "MoaBanger" original title is "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" live at Legend M 2019 MoaMetal 20th Birthday, is an special version with MoaMetal singing the second part of the song, so watch the Legend 1997 first.
      - "CMIYC", original title is "Catch Me If You Can" live at MetRock 2015 with Kami Band intro, you already heard this song but this version hits way different, highly recommended if you like this song and wanna come back.
      - "FDTD", original title is "From Dusk Till Dawn" live at Budokan 2021, this song is from Metal Resistance 2nd album when YuiMetal was still in the group but there was no proshot version until last year.

Good reaction. Given the animated black & white image on the backdrop (and additionally the lead singer, SU-METAL, was born in Hiroshima), this one can be seen as a song about the tragedy of war -- bombs falling from the sky, like monochrome fireworks. Every time I hear this song I ask myself whether hope or despair this song is about. She sings at the end of the song, "When fireworks burst in monochrome, we embrace the world with the colors of rainbow. With smiles."

Headbanger, Road of Resistance, Karate are all worth checking out. Give Me Chocolate has the most hits, but is far from their best, but is very early, so if you want to see them early on that isn't a bad one, and Megitsune is another early one (although that is a case where I would say watch the video, because it is pretty cool).
As for Monochrome, there is a scaled back Piano version they did for The First Take.... this is worth checking out because the way it works is they literally get one take to do it, and it is haunting when scaled back to just piano and vocals.

Looks like my original comment has disappeared so I'll try again (sorry, this will still be too long - just imagine how long the original comment was).
Excellent first reaction. Welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 There really is nothing you will have seen or heard that is quite like BABYMETAL ... and in well over 50 years of listening to all sorts of music, going to concerts, seeing many of the recognised great live bands in their prime, I can honestly say that no other band has provided me with the same degree of entertainment or made me enjoy music and their performances as much as BABYMETAL.
They have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last, they have songs in virtually every metal genre but will also mix and blend so many other styles and genres with the metal. Some songs are good hard metal, some lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between.
BABYMETAL are pretty much unique in that they invented their own genre and their own way of doing things. Do not try to categorise them as just one thing or to put them in any one box. You will not be able to predict them, just expect the unexpected. They don't copy anybody or follow the same format as nearly every other band (as you saw for a start they have brought choreographed dance to metal).
They are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal (she was the one you picked out immediately as being beautiful) and, since the start of April this year, Momometal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in).
The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues.
After Yui left Su and Moa continued as a duo for the next 4 or 5 years through to their 10th anniversary and a bit beyond, supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) taking turns dancing in the third spot. Momoko was the only remaining Avenger from about March 2020 and was finally revealed as the official new third member on 1st April this year.
This was her first video as an official member and she even got her own solo section with the Kabuki Theatre section in the middle.
They started in 2010 when they were still only 12 and 11 years old as a sub-unit of a school themed J-Pop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin. In 2013 Su would be 15 and would graduate from Sakura Gakuin (having a school theme it was for girls aged 10 to 15), but it was decided that BABYMETAL should be her vehicle as she furthered her career as a vocalist and should separate from the Idol group to go with her as an independent band in their own right.
BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and have won many international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). Their big arena shows are spectacular, but they put on great shows every time, even in smaller venues and festivals as they tour the world where they can't always have all the special effects and flames etc too.

Welcome to one of the best live bands no one used to have heard of in the world for the last 10+ years :). This group is breath-taking and re-kindled my interest in music. This song is beautiful (there's also a lyric video that helps understand it) and a "First take" (just piano & violin) version of this. Their music will incessantly surprise you regardless of how often you see them (preferably live in general). I'm pretty sure they don't allow phones usually for their Japanese concerts - I think they're probably right having seen concerts elsewhere although I don't blame ppl. Good reaction and - more please! :D oh - the one on the right is Moa.........you'll find a fair number of people agreeing with your observation 😉
For me - Headbanger 97 & the Moa version, Kagerou, Ijime dame zettai from sonisphere 2014, maybe mirror mirror

2:00 That is such a good take you made about that feeling in the prelude. Kind of like how the people of Hiroshima were down and back up and surpass their history. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
Lead singer Nakamoto Suzuka, known as Su-metal, is from Hiroshima. Btw, the lead singer of their new sister group Metalverse, Todaka Miko, is also from Hiroshima. There both spend time in Actor's School Hiroshima.

When you said it was emotional, I’m pretty sure the song is about Hiroshima, as in the bombing of, and Sumetal, the lead singer is from there, and she’s a living testament to the fact that even after something as devastating as an atomic bomb, things can still get better. Which that line “no matter how long the night, the morning still arrives” really impacts what they’re singing about.

  • @mitchellhodgemeyer7306
    @mitchellhodgemeyer7306 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Well the first obvious thing you should react to if you haven't already is the lyric video for Kingslayer, the song they did with BMTH. Other than that, you could literally react to dozens of clips, as BABYMETAL is famous for their incredible diversity of style between albums and even further down to the level of the individual tracks on the albums - many songs sound completely different from one another.
There are of course "favorites" in terms of clips to react to, such as their performance of "Headbanger!!" at the Legend 1997 Apocalypse show (called that because Su-Metal was born in 1997 and this was a birthday show for her), or their "Road of Resistance" Live in Japan performance. But you could react to most of their catalogue/clips and not be disappointed. I will say that it is well known that BABYMETAL is best enjoyed live, so maybe skip music videos until possibly later (although do note that some of their "official videos" are actually live performance clips as the video, so those would be okay.)
Anyway, welcome to the foxhole. BABYMETAL is one of the best live bands putting on shows in the world today, and certainly one of the most interesting things to happen in the world of metal in the last decade. Enjoy.
