I was 13 or so when this came out, I think I had a lot of questions because I don’t experience the emotions in the series and it gave off so many Disney movies especially beauty and the beast which was where they were going
I actually really liked this series as a kid it was clearly just the writers having fun with their ocs 😭 To this day I actually really like Mothball and his design. And his pony disguise. I like that his cutie mark is a masquerade mask, that's genius. I didn't like the writing for the main 6 all that much for this series, ESPECIALLY for what they did to my girl Rarity 😭
I think the problem was they didn't know how to write Rarity asking these marital questions without it coming off racist because literally the only couples she could ask were the two interracial couples. She's not gonna expect a straight answer from Pinkie or Rainbow because Pinkie tends to not make sense and Rainbow would probably just say Sorin and her make it work because they're both awesome. 😅💀

The best part about liking MLP is whenever you're in an art crisis (for people who typically draw humans or people etc.) just draw ponies they're sooo simple and such a drastic change and just fun! Restores my energy so quick, especially messing with those fun deviantart bases

After reading the THIRD Fanfiction she made for the series, it makes me wish it got adapted to audio too. Son-In-Law of Discord Cause it had some interesting aspects... Spoilers Ahead you have been warned: Chrysalis gets her heart back, she shows love to her kids, followed by her death. *She also regretted using the heartless spell on herself and her family, and realized her feelings for Discord actually diminished over the decades. Also right before she died she regretted not dating Mantis* Mothball finds and reunites with a sister he didn't know he had, as well as his Niece, Zany and Twilight's daughter being shipped, etc. Sure Discord couldn't heal her illness, but I do think he could have saved her.. By having her shapeshift one last time into a unicorn and just SNAP her horn away. Leaving her stuck in the body of an earth pony. After all changelings fully change their body when they shapeshift. Sure she would still die, but from natural pony old age. After she gets the heart back of course. Either that or the power of love saves her. Oh and in the fiction version of Daughter of Discord... Fluttershy actually DID die, but Mothball and screwball's love revived her magically. Oh and... It was outright revealed that when she Married Discord, she gave up her MORTALITY for him. Yes, she is immortal like discord. While on a flipside scenario, Twilight gave up her immortality to live a mortal life with Flash Sentry and her family.
Fun fact, this story is a trilogy! The third fanfic is called Son in law of Discord. There's also a few short stories and one shots that take place within the universe. Discord mentioning the Discord dating game was a name drop for one if these one shots.

I mean, yes dragons age differently from ponies, but Spike was hatched when Twilight was no older than five in the cannon. Most of the Bride of Discord fanfic takes place around three plus years after the season two premiere. While he's still drawn like a tiny baby dragon in BoD, if we go by age he probably be either age of consent or almost there during the fic and they don't start dating until right before Screwball is born so I think it's not as big of an age gap as most people think.

And then like a week later it went into labor and had an unsuspected baby that was given to the kid of the house. That was by MagpiePony! I flippin LOVE Princess Trixie Sparkle even to this day. It had some of the same VAs, for example itsannachloem plays Rarity & Celestia in both series, I love her voice for them. There’s a sequel that I believe is ongoing, I’ve never watched the sequel.

It’s so weird seeing this story as an adult. For me as a kid it all felt perfectly normal as I grew up in a heavily LDS area where having 5+ kids was normal and girls were expected to have romance be their only life goal. Now as an ex member and aroace person this series honestly kinda gives me the ick with how much emphasis there is on needing to find a man to be happy (even if it’s kinda a toxic relationship). So weird for this series to be idolized as perfect writing when I was a kid and now I’m just concerned :,)
For the final musical number of the series, it was drawn by the same person whose make a wish this was dedicated to (I think their name was Pony in My Pocket.) They also briefly voiced Fluttershy too which is why the VA is different for the last moment. Something also interesting to note was that in BOD, Discord’s VA left until the final episode because he did not like the directions the show was taking. The VA from the last episode of BOD voiced Discord for all of DOD. He and screwball’s VA also ended up getting married and met through DOD!
I love how Twilight gives a motivational speech like "you believe in your self and love defeats all" or something when she was the one who wanted to turn everyone into stone
It's so funny how all the hetero ships kick off without issue or many, if any, hitches in the road that have any long-lasting effects (Discord can literally abuse Fluttershy for a year and they still get married), but the ONE lesbian character immediately cuts things off with one of her possible matches never to be seen again because Aqua stigmatized Screwball, but it'd be played as a haha funny if it was a hetero ship "Lol my husband HATES my bestie!!!! i was born in 2006 and for some reason, i felt too old to watch bride of discord but loved daughter of discord. I couldn’t and can’t sit through 5 mins of BOD dispite the ship being right up my alley. regardless I can still appreciate the hard work put into this 5 hour long project because it did pay off. I want to know what age they were when they wrote this. Mothball finds and reunites with a sister he didn't know he had, as well as his Niece, Zany and Twilight's daughter being shipped, etc.
Sure Discord couldn't heal her illness, but I do think he could have saved her.. By having her shapeshift one last time into a unicorn and just SNAP her horn away. Leaving her stuck in the body of an earth pony. After all changelings fully change their body when they shapeshift. Sure she would still die, but from natural pony old age.
After she gets the heart back of course.
Either that or the power of love saves her.
Oh and in the fiction version of Daughter of Discord... Fluttershy actually DID die, but Mothball and screwball's love revived her magically.
Oh and... It was outright revealed that when she Married Discord, she gave up her MORTALITY for him.
Yes, she is immortal like discord.
While on a flipside scenario, Twilight gave up her immortality to live a mortal life with Flash Sentry and her family.

I mean, yes dragons age differently from ponies, but Spike was hatched when Twilight was no older than five in the cannon. Most of the Bride of Discord fanfic takes place around three plus years after the season two premiere. While he's still drawn like a tiny baby dragon in BoD, if we go by age he probably be either age of consent or almost there during the fic and they don't start dating until right before Screwball is born so I think it's not as big of an age gap as most people think.

there’s a third fic I remember reading, the son in law of discord, which follows mothball a bit more. the plot is pretty much that the hive needs him as the king bc he’s the only one capable of reproducing (as a royal) , but that would mean screwball would have to mother.. ALL.. the changelings.. so they end up searching for a replacement for the hive, the missing royal sibling, who turns out to be…. trixie

I know the author has a comic series on devientsrt about queer representation and such and I really like it. The author did admit that they were closeted and had unhealthy ideas of romance at the time.

I remember a mlp audio drama similar to this one, I think it was made by the same person. It was about Trixie swapping bodies with Twilight and also swapping the bodies with the main six + Spike. I only remember the intro and how confused I was on who was talking. I would love if you cover it in a video.
That was by MagpiePony! I flippin LOVE Princess Trixie Sparkle even to this day. It had some of the same VAs, for example itsannachloem plays Rarity & Celestia in both series, I love her voice for them. There’s a sequel that I believe is ongoing, I’ve never watched the sequel.

It’s so weird seeing this story as an adult. For me as a kid it all felt perfectly normal as I grew up in a heavily LDS area where having 5+ kids was normal and girls were expected to have romance be their only life goal. Now as an ex member and aroace person this series honestly kinda gives me the ick with how much emphasis there is on needing to find a man to be happy (even if it’s kinda a toxic relationship). So weird for this series to be idolized as perfect writing when I was a kid and now I’m just concerned :,)

For the final musical number of the series, it was drawn by the same person whose make a wish this was dedicated to (I think their name was Pony in My Pocket.)
They also briefly voiced Fluttershy too which is why the VA is different for the last moment.
Something also interesting to note was that in BOD, Discord’s VA left until the final episode because he did not like the directions the show was taking. The VA from the last episode of BOD voiced Discord for all of DOD.
He and screwball’s VA also ended up getting married and met through DOD!

i was born in 2006 and for some reason, i felt too old to watch bride of discord but loved daughter of discord. I couldn’t and can’t sit through 5 mins of BOD dispite the ship being right up my alley. regardless I can still appreciate the hard work put into this 5 hour long project because it did pay off. ( despite me having to skip through the musical numbers )

In it we found out that Trixie is actually Mothball's older sister who ran away, and they have to find her because Chrysalis is dying, and if she died then Mothball and Screwball would be forced to become the new changeling leaders, which is literally the plot of Shrek 3. Also Trixie had a child with Ironhoof
