It is way too easy. They really screwed up the difficulty level. But when starting with the crazy mode difficulty it is awesome from the start.
its because the camera its so fucking annoying and i hate it -at least lament of innocence had a camera that actually works-

In my opinion this is the best Castlevania EVER, i just love it so much. Also one of the best soundtracks out there, simply beautiful.

This games needs a remake so bad. Keep the music (or enhance it), polish the world design and remove the long empty walks, spice a bit more the combat and it will be amazing. I have zero doubts.
Id say tweak drop rates and exp rates to make it less grindy, give a faster option of movement, and voila solid 10

I really loved how issac was crazy, trevor baddas and hector an avenger.
I still remember going to shop to julia and going calm listening to that music and her voice.
also: for those that complain about "how easy" it was...you can always play it in crazy mode and whit no inocent devils.
Game was hard enough. If it was too easy you were grinding too much before fighting the bosses. Crazy mode is insane even with devils helping but it’s doable with patience.
There will never be a game as enchanting as this for me again. This game had a very special feel to me compared to any game up to date. The magic in this universe and darkness make me feel... weird, but in a good way. The only game that felt close to the magic of this universe was the Elder Scrolls IV, but it still didn't have the feel

ilikeover9000pies You're quite spot on with how my experience with the game was. I honestly could not stop playing because I kept wanting to keep going and exploring every inch of the map. Enchanting is the perfect word to describe this game. And I was fortunate enough to have this be my very first Castlevania game, I went on to play SotN and Aria of Sorrow following this game. Actually, I've yet to finish this game actually! This music is just magnificent.
Finally got a good PC.... emulated this on ps2 yesterday the best

But really though I'm kind of glad that they didn't sequelize that kind of gameplay. Cuz I just hate when anything but especially games bleed too much into each other and become samey.
I think it's really cool how the series tried to make every game stand out as much as possible and most of the time really succeeded :D
I mean SotN could take credit for this Pokevania as well with it's introduction of familiars into the series... it really did change the franchise moving forward.
i swear the music is just so fucking good, the nostalgia is nuts. the mechanics for this were SO good. the weapon crafting system and above all, INNOCENT DEVILSSS

ΕΥΘΥΜΙΟΣ ΛΥΓΟΥΡΑΣ I think so too. But I also like the proboscis fairy I loved that part in the game when it pushes the button that made me laugh when I first played the game and I still think it's funny to this day. :)

With Konami holding the rights to the franchise, it's very unlikely that will ever happen. But I'm with you on this one. An updated version, with maybe 20% faster move speed (or a damn dash button) - I don't need more, not even a major graphics overhaul.
As well as Harmony of Despair and Lamment of Inocence!
I want a completely new game with a lot of the same mechanics used in cod. The ability to loot unique items from enemies and the crafting system was a standout to me. Superb soundtrack. Wasn’t perfect but definitely a game I’d pick play through again sometime.

Curse of darkness was so good, this game was was great just overshadowed by Onimusha and Devil May Cry.
I absolutely loved this game and the n64 castlevania games I think were my two favorites. This soundtrack is so beautiful and amazingly done.

As a SOTN fan I can say: this soundtrack is awesome. Lord of Shadow can't get close to this.

Let's be real, if LoS was exactly the same in all ways but it was Japanese and had catchy music, half the fans who bash it wouldn't be bashing it. There's some serious taste bias going in the CV fandom, as ever.
"Abandoned Castle", "Cordova Town", "Anti-Soul Mysteries Lab" and "The Cross of Fate" (It is a remake of Aria of Sorrow's "Destined Cruz" and "castle corridor") are among the best tracks in the franchise. Those are haunting melodies*. I just love the LoI soundtrack and the CoD soundtrack.
*A haunting melody is music that evokes emotion, that marks you and that you will never forget, they hit you in a place where for you they are haunting due to the depth of what you feel inside when you hear them.

after the epic trevor belmont theme that song feels like been magically blessed by a true Castlevanian Angel
The last Castlevania game I played all the way to the end. Maybe the best for me too. The weapon crafting and jewel power up system made an interesting twist along with a wide Symphony of the Night like diversity of monsters to fight through the 10 levels of that game, plus the weird 100 level bonus tower. Graphics and Music were both good too.

I have listened to This OST for son long... at office while writing i get a boost of imagination.... at gym in the walking thread i get a boost of energy Listening to cordoba town. Dont know what makes me listen a listen this, is like beign at dracula's castle and walking leaving a trace of shadows behind me.
This is such a bad ass OST. It might just be the best in the series. I originally torrented the OST but it was so good I just outright bought it for $20. It is worth it.

I played the living hell out of this game as a kid. The more I think about it, this was a lot like Dark Souls; except the Innocent Devil part.

***** Yyyy nope. CoD has even more complex combat system than LoI. Not only every weapon category has diffrent moves and combos but even weapons from the same category may differ. Add to this fact that you MUST use familiars/pokemon shit things in combat and it can be pretty deep.
I have played about 5 Dynasty Warriors games and the only combos are: SQUARE + SQUARE+ SQUARE or SQUARE+SQUARE+Triangle or SQUARE+SQUARE+SQUARE+TRIANGLE.
BTW if I can tell you about great game with VERY unique combat system- play The Mark of Kri and God hand for the PS2 - pure awsome.
