  • Oops... after all my promises in my last video, I ended up doing nothing all year. So here's a little apology followed by a little bit of history on the car while I warm myself up by the fire.
    Regular programming will return soon, I promise!

    It's great that you are back, that was a long 8 month wait, hope your new business venture worked out and look forward to more TR7 shenanigans in 2023👍

      Thanks! Yeah, I never planned on it being this long. Business venture is picking up after a slow start though, most of my spare money had to go into the business this year so no ££ to spend on the car 🙁 Things are getting better though!

    I just found your channel a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been watching an episode or two almost every day. You do awesome work. You have much more patience than I could ever have. An inspiration to all your viewers. Keep up the good work.

      Thanks for the kind words! The project is slowly picking up again now, next video should be out in a few days and then I'm starting on the electrics.

    Thanks for sharing.
    I restored a 1980 TR7 in mid 90s... Had it for many years... Sold it unfortunately. Wish I had it back. I had dual Weber's on it. Fun car.... except for the Lucas wiring

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think the wiring and some of the poor electrics make up a big portion of the problems these cars had. Mostly easy to deal with though.

    Hi. Just found your channel today and binged all the videos! Really enjoyed it. Listen, I bought a 1998 BMW 840Ci in 2008. Always wanted one and took a punt at this one which was fairly cheap (£4000) but looked stunning. Had some fun with it for a few years, but in 2015 (I think!) I noticed some tiny bits of rust had appeared here and there. I had just done some restoration work on my son's car and my own Golf Gti, which included fully painting them myself in my own garage, both cars had been to shows and were well received. So, filled with confidence I decided to pull the 840 to bits and do a small amount of restoration work on it. The car hasn't run since then and is still in the garage. I have totally lost interest in it about 3 times now, so I fully understand your mind set. Once you lose the momentum, it is so hard to get back into it. I am back on it now doing bits and bats, but I am 70 now so that doesn't help. Anyhow, good luck with the TR7, I am really interested because it is a car I always wanted myself.

      Yes, it's easy to lose motivation - trust me I know! Particularly when it's cold out and things just aren't going your way. I tend to go in fits and starts so I'm hoping this new start will see me through to the end. Having people watching these videos and spurring me on is a good motivator too, so thanks for watching 👍
      Good luck with the 840, I can't imagine that being a simple project!

    Good to see you back! I would imagine a “12 vane water pump” would have been fitted, this is an ‘upgrade’

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Unfortunately the engine I got doesn't have a water pump at all (long story short, I don't have the engine I got with the car any longer; this one I bought off ebay). I say unfortunately, because they're insanely expensive to replace!

    • @robbiejsaris3586
      @robbiejsaris3586 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had all this pain with my TR7 on it’s original engine and the following sprint engine, I then went over to V8. Btw, I lost my mojo with my TR7 for around ten years before starting back on it again, you’re doing well 😂

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robbiejsaris3586 Haha, good to know! I have been considering a V8 - I've actually got one in storage - but I think I'm going to stick with the standard 8V for now. A sprint upgrade might be a future project though!

    The entry in questions looks to say new wings.

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be actually! I know the passenger side was at least removed and refitted at one point, it's possible they were replaced then. Although both wings were covered in filler, so... even with the sheet I went through, there's a lot of missing history (the car's had at least two resprays on the front end).

    Looks like “new plugs”?

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possible I guess. Although there was another line with all the other HT parts, I'd have thought they'd have listed it there.
