I only care about losing belly fat. I weight train so I don’t mind weighing more, I just want a slim midsection and balanced hormones and easy digestion and the starch solution has helped with this tremendously. It’s mind boggling how I used to be high fat pescatarian and had so many digestive issues, skin and hair issues and candida. Whole plant based foods are really the best natural medicine and most of all it’s sustainable long term and very satiating.
I started following calorie density/as described here (I’ve been vegan for 7years) about 5 months ago and I’ve lost nearly two stone and I’m a pound or two off my ideal weight of 8 and a half stone. Once I had got into a good routine I found I could plan to go off plan once or twice a week (not too drastically mind) and I still kept losing. I haven’t gained on a single week. I know we’re all different, but it’s worth knowing that it can be possible to have ‘treats’ when you’re in a good position and know you can be consistent for the vast majority of the time and are still aware of your calories. Thanks Emmie 🥰
So glad I watched this video. I've been wfpb for almost 6 years. A year and a half ago I went down the slippery slope of processed foods....a month and a half ago I cut them out and started my fitness pal. Eating 1200 calories and tracking everything for a month. Just trying to get on track and now I feel like I don't know how to eat when I'm hungry. Today I ate 8 medjool dates with pecans stuffed inside. I needed this video, thanks for making it.
Part 2 please! Very helpful! Kinda did this at Thanksgiving with the fam. Was so foreign to not eat starch solution…and a good reminder why i don’t eat like my fam.
PART 2 PLEASE! This is great! I used to love smoothies and had one with my oatmeal every single morning. I wasn’t losing weight and I know this is one of the reasons why.
I'll definitely watch Part 2. I've been thinking about ditching my morning smoothie because I believe it would help me to start losing weight once again. I'm 32 pounds down and need to see another 20-30 gone, so yes, changes have to be made. Great video. Linda
Yes - I would definitely like to see a "Part 2". This information today has really helped me already. I was going to have "nachos" tonight on baked corn tortillas. I will now have them over potato slices instead. I've never heard the comparison of dry starches to wet starches. Thank you Emmie! Debbie in WA Ü
Part 2 to Part 100 please!!! This is so educational esp to a person like me who turns to Instagram , Pinterest and TH-cam for starch solution inspiration. Most of the time I can’t identify between a weight loss vs maintenance food cause everything looks healthy to me 😅
Most definitely part two please. Loving your videos. Just learning about the vegan diet and enjoying all the info. My daughter has been vegan/flexatarian for a few years now and I’m finally getting it!
Part 2 please! I found this incredibly helpful!! I realized my oat cookies and oat waffles are not helping. Healthy Emmie - you are the best! Love your videos! ❤
SO INFORMATIVE! I’ve been reading the Starch Solution and following several WFPB podcasts- but this is the first time I’ve heard of dry starches V wet starches!! So helpful, Thank you Emmie!
Ya, those oat cookies got me a few years back. I don't make them anymore. Same with dates. I fell into so many of these traps, but thankfully daily weighing opened my eyes quickly. After doing this for over a decade, I don't need to lose weight but enjoy following like-minded people. thanks for another interesting video. Part 2
Part 2 pls!! I did 100% plant based about 4 yrs ago and kept all my weight off for 2 yrs. Im over my start weight and having such a hard time committing to 100% again. I cant seem to get back. I appreciate learning abt the dry and wet carbs - i didnt know tht…. Thank u
PART 2 please! This was VERY helpful, thank you! I followed a WFPB diet for 14 years, was a healthy weight the entire time, but then fell into the lazy way of blended fruit each morning, and avo on sour dough bread way of eating. As I was heading towards the big 50 I began to gain weight. I was then encouraged and a little coerced by a well meaning friend to try Keto and although I lost the weight, I felt absolutely awful & exhausted the entire year and a half on Keto. 😩 I’ve gone back to WFPB, but been gaining weight consistently in spite of eating as balanced and clean as possible and am currently 30 pounds over weight. These tips were invaluable will implement them right away.
Comment Part 2!! Thanks for explaining the dry starches VS wet starches.....really helps to understand in order to make better choices. Still hanging in there with SOS....love it....Thanks Emmie!
Oh I would love part 2! Decided to switch back to PLANT Based because it keeps my blood sugar from dropping but need to lose weight. Went on a search tonight and I’m thrilled that I found you! I am following and soaking in every word! Thank you so much for sharing!
Not sure if you have done a Part 2 already (will search after this) but boy do I really thing that this type of video is a MUST!!! Seeing actual photos of other peoples meals and breaking them down into the 'do not do' is so educational. Oh, and yes medjool dates are definitely crack!! I can only eat one and its like a sugar overload. My addiction at the moment is a bliss ball made with oats, nut butter etc. Hmmmmm, yeah, bet that is high in calories! Will be doing the SS after I get back from my little holiday in a couple of weeks. Love your channel and learn so much from it.
Part 2!! Awesome tips Emmie! You have been a huge help and I have been tweaking my meals and already seeing a difference! What about PB powder since the fats are removed? I just add water, and usually eat with an apple.
Part 2 please - first person to explain wet oats vs dry oats! I never understood why everyone had oats for breakfast when they're so high per pound, now it makes sense! Thanks Emmie
Part 2 Please! Hello, Emmie I totally agree Medjool dates are super addictive! Even more so if you put it with peanut butter and chocolate for so-called healthier treats. Not bad to make just not so great if you eat too many of them.
i began transitioning into a vegan diet thinking that dropping meat and dairy would magically make me lose tons of weight. i learned so many recipes with dates and oats and i was confused as to why i wasnt losing weight because it was "vegan". whole food plant based doesn't equal weight loss and I learned that the hard way lol. had to say goodbye to the peanut butter filled dates i would turn to as a healthy snack haha
My old “healthy” diet at 140lbs took 1500 calories. But now super low fat i eat 2-2500 cals each day same exercise and easily maintaining 113. Why is this? Im not eating meat, no overt fat, no nuts or seeds or avo. Loads of barley porridge and apples. Huge difference. Plus I’m 54 in menopause!
Wow this was helpful. Been doing SS for a little over a week and gained a pound. I’m literally doing almost everything she named here (bread, oat bars, dried fruit, smoothies). Well that explains it. 🤦🏽♀️
Part 2 Please💕 Also would overnight night oats be considered more dry oats? I’m cooking mine, got lazy. I enjoyed Part 1, always learn so much from your videos.🎄
🤯 dry oats are a DRY STARCH 🤦🏻♀️ I would have never assumed that on my own, and it’s crazy I’ve never heard this!! Thanks for the info part 2 please :)
Part 2 flexitarian - sometimes it feels like the only thing that will satisfy my hunger is some kind of animal protein - or tofu, tofu will work. It feels like cavewoman hunger!
Part 2 please! I think I know my issues but I have a hard time overcoming them.. flexitarian being one of them and the weekend treats.. I bounce back and forth between doing intermittent fasting and eating breakfast. I understand calorie density but it’s hard to break the binge habit (which is why the flexitarian comes in with cheese 🤦♀️)
I only eat 2 medjool dates maybe once a week. I will dice them up small & add to my oatmeal & it’s plenty sweet enough. I could probably get away with just one. 😋
Hey I was curious about the fiber content being destroyed in a smoothie and all I could find is that it only is less when removing the peel and seeds. Do you have a reference for this? Just curious because sometimes I make smoothies when in a hurry and have to drive somewhere so it’s out of convenience.
Excellent video. It's OK to eat like it's your birthday, as long as you remember we don't have a birthday every week! Dr. Esselstyn wants to erase from his patients vocabulary the phrase "a little bit won't hurt". Actually it does. Part two please
This was an excellent video. It really was. I love your delivery you are quite the comedian. Thank you so much for this. Can I ask. If we are reducing or eliminating nuts and seeds for weight loss, where can we get our vitamin E from? I am quite concerned. I noted that Plantiful Kiki was deficient of several vitamins and minerals and I wondered if there was a problem with not getting enough BEANS. literally a sprinkle of chickpeas aint gonna cut it. otherwise i totally believe in the starch solution. Thirdly, why if starch isn't a weight inducer do we have to limit our carbs for the 50/50 plate? Thank you. Just trying to get a few things straight in my head.
"PART 2" Please Hi Emmie, thank you for your video since 3 months runs with me literally what the diet concerns everything badly. I had to take cortisone and that has my intestine which was already weakened totally destroyed. Since then I can no longer eat legumes, even some vegetables such as onions, green beans and eggplant, Brussels sprouts are no longer edible for me. As I am allergic I have to avoid dairy products, soy, wheat, gluten and nuts. Without the legumes I feel very hungry and constantly get ravenous. I am so frustrated that I eat everything and nothing. Can you give me some advice on what to eat instead of legumes?😘
What about overnight oats? Are they considered dry? Please say no 😅 I adore my overnight oats and only have 2 Tbsp of them with oat milk and loads of fruit as toppings and some soya yoghurt (no sugar)
Just found your channel and it’s awesome. Thank you for so much info! Is there an issue if you use Organic Stevia in tea or oatmeal etc? I have such a sweet tooth I can’t imagine not having sweetness. 🙏💕👍🎉
This is gonna sound dumb but are 'wet' forms of alcohol better than say shots of spirit? I am experimenting with this, mainly beer and wine, after hearing the blue zones enjoy small amounts of alcohol.
I've followed a plant-based diet for a while, but my body fat ratio has increased while my muscle has decreased. The weight itself has dropped but what's lost is the muscle, not the body fat. (I regularly check my body fat ratio at home.) What do you think is the problem? I don't eat processed vegan substitutes. I don't cook with oil. So I started wondering if this low protein + high carb diet has caused this problem. What would you recommend for the cases like mine? Would it be because of too much calorie deficit? :(
Another interesting, informative and useful video from the beautiful, cool, gorgeous & lovely Healthy Emmie. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕💞❤Emmie and all her viewers, subscribers and clients. Part 2 definitely required.
I lost 22 lbs on the SS diet but then went off it and gained it all back plus 30. I am on my 4th day back and it looked like I gained another pound so I am desperate. Help!

I feel like I just read my own comment!
Part 2 please! I just had the oat waffle this morning 🤦♀️🤦♀️ And I love that everything u say is exactly what Dr. Lisle preaches!

Oh I needed this dates reminder 🥺 They are definitely a trigger food for me.
Well the dry oatmeal is an eye opener for me. Thanks so much.

Chef AJ (who is WFPB) is allergic to beans. She eats a lot of sweet potatoes. You could check out what she eats in a day. 💋
@@sherylporter9557 Thank you😊

Part 2 please. Learned so much🤗
The secret is proportion control aka servicing sizes per meal.
Thanks for sharing!
Part 2... I was hoping for more on sauces and pastas and naked starches, etc.
Just found your channel and it’s awesome. Thank you for so much info! Is there an issue if you use Organic Stevia in tea or oatmeal etc? I have such a sweet tooth I can’t imagine not having sweetness. 🙏💕👍🎉
Yes! Part two please! 😄
Part 2 please. Very informative
Part 2, 3 and 4 please 👍
I’m doing everything wrong n thought it’s just my body that can’t loose weight. It’s how I eat it.
This is gonna sound dumb but are 'wet' forms of alcohol better than say shots of spirit? I am experimenting with this, mainly beer and wine, after hearing the blue zones enjoy small amounts of alcohol.
Yeees part 2 🙏🙏🙏
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I’ll subscribe to this channel.
Does excess STARCH convert to body fat? Thanks 🙏
Yes, part two please!
Part 2 Please!! Thank you!
Are overnight oats OK to eat...or are they considered dry starch because they are not cooked?
Another interesting, informative and useful video from the beautiful, cool, gorgeous & lovely Healthy Emmie. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕💞❤Emmie and all her viewers, subscribers and clients. Part 2 definitely required.
