I Bought a Red Wolf Fish , He Ate EVERYTHING in the Tank !

- I bought one of the most aggressive freshwater fish available in the aquarium hobby, the red wolf fish ( Erythrinus Erythrinus ) ! It has been a dream of mine to keep one and I finally managed to get my hands on one! Yes this is the reason I quickly set up the new aquarium lol.
The wolf fish will stay in the 56 for a month or 2 and then I'll move him over to the bigger aquarium.
I'll post an update soon, let me know what you think !

@@slicksaimon yeah I think most of the fish in my bigger community aquariums would be fine but I’m more worried about my smaller fish 😅 like the corydoras in my 200 or the botia loaches in my 240. They’ll definitely end up as snacks 😅😅

Been thinking about getting a wolfish. They seem like such cool fish. Only carnivores i have are some bichir and a south african leafish. But wolfish seem like another beast
Oh nice! Apparently the wolffish is okay with same sized or bigger tank mates so you could potentially make it work with those.
I definitely messed up with trying out small tetras but I was thinking about trying out something like a bichir with the wolf fish
You should get some amazon puffers for your other tank they are kinda small but they are semi aggressive so they should be fine

I don’t know if they are legal to own were you live but you should consider dojo loaches they are cold water fish

@@lunarfade613 Love Dojo loaches, they are really cool but I don't have a coldwater tank at the moment, but if i ever set one up I'll get one for sure
He should be fine in a semi aggressive community I had one years ago with bichirs and I even had a mala wolf that lived with an aggressive community before although each fish is an individual , I had a psycho brown knife fish that attacked my bichirs even though brown knifes are usually chill yet my mala wolf was pretty chill unless something started a fight with it and then he messed them up bad (edit - seriously though those tetras and shrimps were doomed that was never gonna work unless he was fully grown to were he might ignore them but even then it's a risk)
@@Taurassic Hey, thank you for sharing your experience! That’s a really cool insight. Yeah I was thinking about trying out a Bichir or maybe a Pleco, I’ll see once I get a better idea of my wolf fish’s personality.
And yeah the tetras was a serious misjudgment from my part 😅 I really thought the tetras speed would keep them alive and then the wolf fish would get bored after a day or 2. But yeah turns out the wolf fish can get quite fast when he wants to lol
@@ScoobzNPetz yeah wolves can be fast when they want to, even my gar would get those tetras though, the thing with little fish fast fish like that is when they sleep is when they get gobbled up during lights off I have heard of people keeping purple & red wolves together but again depends on the individual
@@Taurassic yeah I only realised the sleeping after it was too late 😅 Lesson learned. I’m going to observe the wolf for a bit and see what his personality is like before I try out another tank mate

@@j.t.cooper2963 Honestly, I thought he’d try and chase the tetras for a bit and then give up, he seems like a slow swimmer compared to the tetras. Unfortunately I was wrong
90% sure he could work in your large Community Tank. Large Fish work out well. Been keeping mine for a year with a lot of other fish. Even small Cichlids and Garras

@@ScoobzNPetz my red wolf is doing amazing, been growing really well. My other wolf the Hoplias Aimara is a little different. Been working out amazing at the start but there are some tank mates that he doesn’t like for unknown reasons.

This species is the nice one of the wolfs, but if it fits in the mouth It will be considered as food🤷♂️😂 I had one for years, really cool fish ☺️

@@kazkorianor I didn’t do it on purpose, I’ve mixed predator fish with community fish before and it worked out fine. I thought the tetras would be fast enough to out swim the wolffish but unfortunately I was wrong
This fish can't be put in with community fish it would be a massacre. Proceeds to up him into a small tank with some of the smallest community fish and shrimp.
A rough guide is nothing big enough to fit in his mouth.
Seriously what did you think would happen? Or did you just want to feed him your fish and shrimp for views?
@@awilderireland Hey, well the original plan was to just let the tetras cycle the tank and then I was gonna take them out but after the wolffish left them alone I thought it would be okay. I also thought that the tetras would be too fast for the wolffish as it seemed to be a slow swimmer. I was wrong of course. I learned my lesson don’t worry lol
In regards of feeding them for views, I wouldn’t do that. Not with the tetras, I had them for years. I was gutted when they were gone
