@@MrHillbilly no I mean like get a newt maybe call him trump then the next one you do of these ecosystems do Barack just see how many president we can get
Kudos on the dirt substrate. 👍🏽 My favorite, hands down, since 2012. Once I did it on a couple of tanks, and got into a flow of weekly water changes (to keep those constantly decaying nutrients down), it was just amazing. Everything took off…plants that I could never grow before, yet people claim to be "able" to grow easily in gravel or sand… or with only root tabs. 😆 Personally, never had that luck! I’m talking about root-feeders, like swords, crypts, crinums, aponogetons, lilies, etc. They just won’t thrive in a minimal nutrient base. Maybe with CO2 added you could MAYBE get away with a weak substrate…but everyone who injects CO2 seems to use Aquasoil or something decent anyway. But with dirt, I find you don’t even need CO2, and you barely even need lights or root tabs! 😂 I had a dirt tank purposely receiving only natural light, filtered through a screen, and it was great. The fish and plants all got into the rhythm of the natural movements of the sun and moon. I had it in a corner window facing northeast, so just morning sun would potentially be harsh, so I had a screen…algae never an issue.
@@erikm8372 ya I’ve found natural dirt with a few organics in it like small pieces of wood works the best for growing your rooted plants. It’s the way it grows in nature and it works amazing. I’ve never had luck with sand and root tabs.
@@erikm8372 my river tank I think I added too much organics cause my plants have multiplied X10 in just a couple months and staghorn algae growing on everything. I may have too much lighting so I just removed 2 of the lights and if that doesn’t slow it down I’m gonna raise the lights up about 10 inches
at your inspiration, im making one of these. smaller, but still gonna be fun. whatever i find on craigslist, because i own some lizards and thinkin of getting mud/musk turtle
First! The tiger salamander and axolotl are related, but the axolotl never metamorphosizes into a terrestrial salamander. However, it is possible to force an axolotl to undergo metamorphosis. This can be triggered by an axolotl’s environment and diet. The animal will look like a tiger salamander, but the metamorphosis is unnatural and shortens the animals lifespan. Second! Your choice of inhabitants I thought was very irresponsible. At anytime more than one of these poor creatures could’ve been injured or even killed! Not to mention the husbandry for each of the inhabitants are quite different! I found the video to be very uncomfortable to watch knowing that an accident could happen at any time. Please at the very least inform people that this is not proper care for these animals and that they should do their own research to ensure the best care for the animals! Your information is very misleading to someone who does not know! Do better please!
There’s always one negative person who doesn’t read and goes on the attack. All the creatures live together in the wild so tell me how is it irresponsible? I’m creating the most natural environment for them. And why are you telling me how to morph an axolotl when I don’t have one?! I’ve been raising water dogs sense I was a kid Also if you find it hard to watch then don’t watch it 🥴
I normally don’t comment but i believe you were just being offered constructive criticism. I have animals too have worked with them professionally for about 7 years. I personally wouldn’t mix the animals that you do it’s a cool temporary setup but i. The long run there is a huge possibility for injury. That’d be dope fart frog setup tho.
@@MrHillbillyokay not to throw hate at you but your water dog isnt one. A water dog belongs to the species of Necturus, it is similar to an axolotl but not the same. This is an Ambystoma mexicanum, and thus an axolotl. Water dogs are slimmer than axolotls and their external gills dont get as long as your specimin in the video. Although their lifecycles and habitat are very similar they are not the same. And even though the axolotl and your tiger salamander are from the same family, they dont morph into each other unfortunatly. Just a heads up, i liked your video and your paludarium is very well made tbh👍
My phone glitches and deleted my essay so I'll just sum it up Crayfish eat salamanders Salamanders eat small crayfish Snapping turtles eat both Even if the snapper isn't big enough to eat either rn it could still take out and arm or leg or an eye. It could kill without eating them. This is poor husbandry and shouldn't be done again. Please take this advice and move the snapper to its own tank. Otherwise everything should be fine. The crayfish should also be kept separate from the amphibians. Otherwise the setup is pretty good and you're in the clear.
I think your terrarium contend is great but I don't like that you went into the wild to catch fish. You cannot just take them from outside! It's illegal and moreover it's a desaster for the environment to drive thru the swamps and foests with your motorcycle. Please prevent our beautiful planet for everyone in every generation to enjoy. God gave it us to enjoy, not to demage it. And I think it could be a nice hiking trip if you went there by foot.
That’s exactly why I built it. I’ve always wanted something like this as a kid! I will eventually give it away to someone who wants it more and building something twice the size this spring.
I like how you made a sort of storyline for the vivarium. I like to think a change in climate lead to a drastic increase in rainfall in the desert leading to a mass die off in various organisms and those that survived were mainly the reptiles and amphibians being best equipped for this new humid and flooded world. Anything that wasn’t aquatic was forced to move to higher ground to adapt and survive while the low lands were flooded leading to a vast shallow swamp.
@@MrHillbilly Now I’m imagining a chapter where the swamp gets flooded even more via rising sea levels becoming a salt water lagoon of sorts. I just imagine each chapter the environment of the vivarium changes. For example we have the scorched age being the desert vivarium and now we have the age of amphibia aka a lush humid swampy world. I’m curious where this goes next.
You are close! The water is slowly going to drop carving out the rock little by little until it’s a fast rapid stream eating away at the earth creating a BIG… MASSIVE …. Some would say it was GRAND …… Canyon. With a venomous predator or a bearded dragon. I’ll have everyone vote on it haha. Thanks for the insight. You have some good ideas that I’m going to use!!
I’m also thinking of a pre historic tank with dinosaur looking creatures and massive miniature trees for scale and looks of hanging moss. Maybe even throw some dragon flys in there. 🤷
@@MrHillbilly I can imagine in the river that remains a relic like a snapping turtle from the swamp living in it and as the environment around them changes there basically trapped. A relic from a bygone era. I can also see fish filling out the nieces left behind by the amphibians that couldn’t handle the changes and meanwhile on land reptiles may claim dominance but it’s a waning grip as new rising stars such as various spiders prowling the canyon walls and scorpions and centipedes slowly usurping the dominant reptiles as top predators.
I did a foam backdrop in my 150G. The centerpiece was a foam Mayan calendar. I covered it all with dyed fiberglass concrete. After about two months the entire thing was covered in moss and looked natural. It was absolutely amazing. I kept a Red Belly Pacu and Cichlids in there.

If I am wrong please help me to correct it. 😂 I want to give the most honest animal experience. I don’t know everything but I try my best to give the most accurate info.

Mr hillbilly is back!!🎉🎉
Love videos like this fr great job man. Very entertaining‼️
Appreciate it!
try putting the food more spread out so they dont fight that much, they could get injured
I drop the food in 3 different places they just always meet up at the center one.
This was an amazing video keep up the good work🙂
Thank you! I’m trying to keep up with these other guys but they are killin it!!
A siren might be an interesting top predator for a future build, or this one once the snapper outgrows it
That would be cool but I have no idea where to get one of those!
Your videos are always edited and made so sick🔥
Thanks! 🔥
So you’re telling us that this series starts as a desert then a swamp then a Grand Canyon d sert
Yes
I may have too much lighting so I just removed 2 of the lights and if that doesn’t slow it down I’m gonna raise the lights up about 10 inches
at your inspiration, im making one of these. smaller, but still gonna be fun. whatever i find on craigslist, because i own some lizards and thinkin of getting mud/musk turtle
sick! remember to do research and take good care of em. id love to see the results.
That’s awesome! Join my discord and share the pics! Links on my main page and in the description!
i cant keep watching these your vids are so good im happy your a youtuber keep it up!❤
Thank you 😊
no problem i hope you have a great day im just chilling watching your amazing vids they so entertaining :)
How is this guy managing to make engaging fish tank lore 💀
I found these videos while stoned and I was dragged into knowing what happened next 😂
I like this video so much❤
@@dominospets7578u ever heard of people doing “ecosystem”
My phone glitches and deleted my essay so I'll just sum it up
Crayfish eat salamanders
Salamanders eat small crayfish
Snapping turtles eat both
Even if the snapper isn't big enough to eat either rn it could still take out and arm or leg or an eye.
Dude this is awesome!
It's not illegal to collect wild fish, lmao. Get over yourself brah.
What a great video!! Great job love your channel.🐠🐢🦀
Wait till you see the room in person with all the Tanks!
This mam makes my day😭
Awesome set up man! This is what we dream of building as kids 🤩
That’s exactly why I built it. I’ve always wanted something like this as a kid! I will eventually give it away to someone who wants it more and building something twice the size this spring.
Wow, Cool video! Love Morphious!❤😊
Me too! I’m filming him in this new video as we speak. Should be ready by next weekend
He said yea. What’s up. I bust out laughing 😂
Nice work! You're going places
Thanks!
Great video brother, I will always be supporting you from the Hispanic community
Thanks! I appreciate that.
Oh my god this is just so freaking cool!
Thank you 😊
Man these videos should be 3x as long as soon as Im glued in its over😭
I would love to make them longer but just this 12 min took a month of filming. Waiting for them to morph could take another month….
@@MrHillbilly got ya! Good stuff my friend👍
Great video, thanks 👍
I like how you made a sort of storyline for the vivarium. I like to think a change in climate lead to a drastic increase in rainfall in the desert leading to a mass die off in various organisms and those that survived were mainly the reptiles and amphibians being best equipped for this new humid and flooded world. Anything that wasn’t aquatic was forced to move to higher ground to adapt and survive while the low lands were flooded leading to a vast shallow swamp.
Yup that was the idea for the story.
Keep up the good work, really love this series
Thank! The next one is almost done. Just finished filming today.
Awsome video this was so cool! This was very good bro keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!

Forget the build-its amazing but youre hilarious 😂
Thanks!
again an amazing video keep on
Thank you 🤙🏻
I did a foam backdrop in my 150G. The centerpiece was a foam Mayan calendar. I covered it all with dyed fiberglass concrete. After about two months the entire thing was covered in moss and looked natural. It was absolutely amazing. I kept a Red Belly Pacu and Cichlids in there.
That sounds awesome!
@@MrHillbilly I wish I could find the photos of it. That was about 16 years ago but it was great.

Yes part two is almost done filming. Waiting on the tadpole to morph but it’s not looking like it’s gonna happen…

Good plants But how Dit you get Morphious?
I rescued him from a bait store. They sell them for $2.50 as live bait for fishing.
Nicely done!!
