Instead, their are two pieces that are "rumors" which involve stupidly hard quests just to obtain them. They actually make the "free" hunt pass "armor" harder to work for than the elite hunt pass stuff. Its actually pathetic. Let's also mention how you can pay (ridiculous amounts of) platinum to just skip all of the quests, which I believe is not restricted to just rumor quests either, but all of them. Pay-to-win has entered this game and I am not for it.
I personally like increasing the attack speed as you go on. I say that with the aether strikers on mind. I think they feel good right away, and then as they increase they just feel better.
Whereas in the inverse, I think that the amount of attack speed needed to make Axe feel like it's in a decent place would be far too much for something like the aether strikers or chain blades. So I'd rather not step away from attack speed cells. Now, if you wanted to take Conduit out and bake it into all of the weapons...
It's mostly to emulate the optional upgrades taking gear from +10 to +15. Minimal increases for those who want to min/max. Not strictly required to do. Though reforging let's you use the aetherhearts to add extra power to your gear as well. Makes it worth it in my mind. You'll get more than a basic 5% bonus
I tought it was a dumb system. Now watching this, it really is a dumb system. There were no need to change it at all. It was good before. Just like what they did in 0.4.7. 😒
Yeah, they could have just made the "slayer's path" a completely new skill tree for people to get new shit from, while keeping the previous system, instead of making it replace the old system. P.S. and if doing that would make people too powerful, they could just increase the overall difficulty of the game, or add higher difficulty modes, and that's that. I'll give it a try, but I'm not too excited for it, honestly.
Tbh this would've worked if they reworked the useless cells into good ones. Remove the innate cell and replace it with an additional cell slot and add passive effects on each armor piece and/or a set bonus so upgrading armor is worth it. This along with cell drop rate buffs so new players don't ragequit because they don't have cells. Idk why the game gives you a cell every blue moon but they should make it so they drop whenever you finish a fight.
i honestly don't fancy this overhaul. it seems like they removed a part of progression. now every piece of gear starts at +1 cell lvl like they did before but there's no way to get them to lvl 2 ? they didn't mention that anywhere, only said that by power surging you get endgame gear with +3 innate cells and all that. at least the upgrade system before this was easy: 1 to 15, at 6 you got "+2" on your innate cell and at 10 you got "+3" and the only reason to upgrade up to 15 was for the power. reforging basically downgrades your weapon for "prestige" stuff. now i can't even run my +10 gear because they only give you 1 aetherheart per +15 gear item so I'll be stuck with "+1" innate cells for a while. they did say they'd give people like me some aetherhearts relative to the upgrade lvl our gear had but power surging costs too much ram even if i did do the grind. Edit: Ok, so you can get your gear to have lvl 2 innate cells but without power surging you can't get them to lvl 3.
Plus the item once +10 now considered as tier 1 item (at least in my case, idk bout others). Need to farm tonnes of rams to get it to tier 5. Material is no problem. But the amount of rams is nonsense

You basically gather money from cores from my experience. Every time i leave the hunting grounds i open a bunch of cores i got and all have rams in them
Not bragging just making a point here, i was a veteran before this update and literally the only thing left for me from those vet days are my prestige trial gold sub 100 leaderboard armor set and weapon transmogs, all of my builds are ruined, all of lantern updates gone, all of +15 gear, all the behemoth masteries all the slayer masteries all gone, and now i have to farm it all back for what once i had is that it?
Fr all this update did was make the game a lot easier for new players and ruined it for veterans, spent all that time grinding materials to max out gear only for it to not even matter with this update. What a massive waste of time...
For those who can't find their main quest. From what i've seen by helping people in the ps4 community most of your main quest are locked behind the milestone nodes. Your progress before the update also may have messed up the progress on this update. Example; let's say that you were on dire patrols and the quest said to hunt Valomyr and the quest after that said to hunt Riftstalker although before the update you would unlock the Riftstalker right after you slayed Valomyr, but now if you didn't progress your mastery far enough beforehand the milestones in the slayer's path set you back to where you technically are in terms of experience. Furthermore this example is shown on how you unlock Riftstalker
@@callumoneil9707 Aetherhearts are used to "power surge" a specific weapon. Aethersparks are the material used to reforge a weapon class. As far as I can tell, power surging instantly makes a certain weapon endgame while a reforge is mostly a "prestige" rank
I actually like how they are putting people out of their comfort zone and getting them to try new weapons. It gives me a reason to try and learn weapons that I wouldn't learn otherwise. I also am a general fan of prestige systems
So I hopped on dauntless today and I have a serious question can you not upgrade gear or weapons anymore because it looks like all you can do is power surge them it doesn't look like you can level them up anymore if there is something that I missing please help me Dough also I completed the rumors quest and didn’t get the gear or transmogrification or whatever it was please help
Weapons should feel good out the box like Monster Hunter but that's just me in regards to attack speed. Can't say I'm a fan of prestiging though unless it was only cosmetic.

12:27 I think that having the flexibility of attack speed is pretty good. It makes it so people can play with a slow and controllable speed or really fast speed. They both have benifits but attack speed right now outweighs raw power/damage by a fair bit
@@nukefoodsofficial5849 have you used full attack speed axe pre attack speed nerf? It's impossible to get resolve. And priming hammer attacks is hell with too much attack speed. Pretty sure priming with athercharged ammo and extra damage is more DPS than 40% attack speed
In answer to your question about attack speed, I like how you can add more speed BUT some weapons should have more speed for example chain blades they're so slow when you think about it this weapon SHOULD be much faster, and I didn't understand the empowerment like if I reforged the strikers I get more attack speed on all the other weapons (sword/chain blades/ex..) and what if I don't play strikers I still can reforge them for attack speed right?
So does this reset all of our progress we’ve made so far in the game if we are veterans along with resetting our gear back to zero or do they give us the proper amount of currency to max out nodes if we already have everything maxed and unlocked right now in game?
@@hyperchunky7299 you'll lose some power but the power surging you can do with the aetherhearts helps keep the overall loss to a minimum. Think the article talking about it was a straight +100 improvement to the power/resistance of the item being improved while also being how you got the +3 perk on your gear in the new system
In just 2 days i got my pass level to 25. Dauntless got addicting. Especially because it became so smooth going from one behemoth to another and not wait through 3 minute loading screens and matchmaking to fight 1 monster
For me personally, I would love Dough's suggestion of boosting attack speed. I'm kind of newer to the game, but I've tried every weapon, and the heavy hitters could really use a boost in attack speed. It doesn't have to be an insane boost, but enough to make them feel good to play.
In hunting grounds my support build actually supports the team more effectively. I just have to grind all over again to get the repeater to do enough damage for gaining shields.
One thing i am wondering...is power surging the only way to level up gears that were not +15 already before the rework? It seems that I have to reforge if I want, say, get my Rage or Savagery back to +6 because the perk levels are decreased on my gears : (
attack speed is the thing when you have it you feel it too much or not enough, when you dont have it you want it. they should just buff overall attack speed and only let few weapon able to increase attack speed on their own {special/mod)
Seems like it's harder to have multiple weapons and armor sets at a decent level. Before I remember you could use guns then if you wanted you could use your resourced to upgrade the other things you want to mess with like gauntlets. But now it seems like it will take a lot more resources to be able to do the same thing.
They need to increase the buffs from the tree they look so underwhelming so little bumps in crit and more I hope in trying to reduce power creep they don't just nerf hammer us into the ground like a shroud slam
Note to all new players. Just because a weapon does a load of damage, it does not mean you should choose it. If you cannot dodge almost 100% of the time, you are a burden. But you also want to help the team I here you say. It's fine if you can dodge, but I would prefer a teammate with a chain blade rather than a teammate with a hammer who cannot stay on their feet. I use the spear. I an great at wounding behemoths as well as flat out killing them. But if I have a teammate with a chain blade, they are able to wreck the wounded parts.
I hate it. It locks you into only one type of weapon and grind is a million times worse. Also even if you have finished all mastery and have all the champion gear and everything at 15 you now feel like you've just started again
Understanding the slayers path isnt hard. It's just a skill tree like in other games and you have an explanation on how to unlock each node, literally on it. What I am confused about is the upgrade and up leveling system, especially on armors. I do not understand the level of my armor and how strong I am. I had my armor lvl 11 before, I dont know how to tell its level now. Perhaps I missed some stuff but a video on that would be much appreciated. I believe beginners expecting a Monster Hunter style game will be most confused .
Taking a break from dauntless and playing other games really made me realize and dislike having to use wild frenzy and speed boost i do wish we got natural attack speed boost
I get why Dauntless has attack speed as a variable that Slayers can change, but for us regular players that just want to hunt, attack speed should just be at a baseline standard. It sucks that slayers have to account for how fast a weapon deals damage on top of what cells they would need for their hunts.
So what im hearing is a built in catalyst. Even though we might be losing buff from escalation. I dont think its going to be as much of a decrease in power overall. Im honestly looking forward to playing this update
They are removing the capacitor's tripled power in escalation and only allowing it to add to your power/resistance in escalation. Keeps regular hunts more balanced Catalyst is always gonna be a top tier cell for those who can maintain their tonic counts

To be able to knock down the strongest bosses in all Dauntless Now I can't even with levels 5 ... and I emphasize I have played since Dauntless began and also had my things level +15 both my swords and my accessories, I do not know what happened but that They did not calculate it well, Macana & everyone Who its Just a Partner does not say anything about that because they give everything to them and they can upload anything, but those who do not, we lost a lot of power and many things, also I even had a bug with the parachute xD And all my equipment got stuck and I couldn't attack I had to leave Dauntless, but well bugs nothing serious, hurts me more all the effort, so that I can't even continue with the weekly challenge because now I don't have attack and i cant resist anything that happens with this. kill 1500 times every behemonth to have all very good. And do not even give you 30% of what I had .. uff had to say a lot of effort actually more than 900 times in climbs for this !!!! I think that many with these new changes will not play again, the truth is, we lost a lot and when I say a lot is enough .. I emphasize that I could only improve one of my armors only once. I cannot upgrade armor crafting node , it's said "require : complete weaponsmith's request" but there is no quest for me in town but I can unlock all other node
So, if we already have some of this stuff due to unlocking it in the current/older versions, do we keep the equivalent in the update or does it restart, and we have to unlock it all again?
Don's listen to Edgar cuz the compensation is crap. You do lose damage and levels and you definitely do not have the equivalent anymore. You don't have to unlock certain things again, but you do have to grind to build it up again through a completely different progression system.
@@SchrollShepard the compensation. Several of the players (even ohdough) have said they are missing millions of rams, so there was not any proper compensation. I was a little hot headed though, because they called the lacking compensation "generous" and the only reference to the loss of levels (1-15) and the change to tiers was the line "personal loss" and thats it. That was my fault for letting it bother me too much, and I am sorry for how I reacted to you.

I reforged my swords pistols and strikers I’m trying to use twin subs but it won’t let me access the twin suns tab to level them up plus all of my weapons and armor are level 1 again and I only have the option to power surge them not level them up is this a bug or did I miss something?
IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!!!! How Am I supposed to upgrade ARMOR when I need Aetherhearts??? The Armor doesn't level up the way Weapons do, they STAY at the basic level, which means +1 on the PERK. I want +3 PERKS but the only way I have found to make Aetherhearts is to level a weapon to lvl 20 and spend 100 Aethersparks to get ONE Aetherheart!!!! So if I want to do a Trail that requires MAX level stuff you CANT do that without leveling up to level 20 A LOT OF TIMES just to get everything to +3 PERKS?!?!?!
The game gave you 1 Aetherheart for each Weapon or armor you had at level 15, but I had almost everything at level 10 because that was the minimum level needed to get +3 PERKS... Now I only got Armor with +1 PERKS!!!!!! Why did they not give the HEARTS for each level 10 instead??? I only got a few Aetherhearts now, I cant upgrade everything I had with +3 PERKS!!!

I would much rather have weapons be good out of box, and better with mods. Personally they should add not flawless mod builds too, like increase speed when you get hit and stuff.
I have a question about the repeaters... In the crafting page the frostbite prison says it deals 3,000 damage over 30 seconds, but in my inventory/equipment it says 1,000... Which is correct? Is that a big? Do I need to upgrade it cause I honestly don't know how to do that since the update?
How the hell do we get all these rams? I played for about 5 months now and only peeked at 120k rams. It'll take years to get enough without ability to sell anything
@@filippobertone4255 when you die just mash the hotkey for bulwark before you get up. it works on xbox. once you do it you wont take dmg at all. you just turn into godmode. i really dont wanna cheat. im new to the game and bulwark is really useful for new players like me but it is broken right now atleast on xbox. you can try it and tell me if you are on pc or other console.

Really not fan of the prestige/reforge, ain't going to lose 400 of my power and resistence for some 5% buffs.

Chainblades special is scuffed in hunting grounds, people can body block you or you can be caught on phantom hit boxes.

I can’t even deal 150 part damage with a single light attack with a chain blade anymore, how do I bump up the damage after I reforged chainblades?
Weapons should feel good out the box like Monster Hunter but that's just me in regards to attack speed. Can't say I'm a fan of prestiging though unless it was only cosmetic.
Started yesterday, logged in today and I'm so confused. Do quests no longer exist? All I had was the glider, is the game just hunt monsters now?

You just hunt with some random players in the island and just keep hunting all you want.

I think that having the flexibility of attack speed is pretty good. It makes it so people can play with a slow and controllable speed or really fast speed. They both have benifits but attack speed right now outweighs raw power/damage by a fair bit

@@nukefoodsofficial5849 have you used full attack speed axe pre attack speed nerf? It's impossible to get resolve. And priming hammer attacks is hell with too much attack speed. Pretty sure priming with athercharged ammo and extra damage is more DPS than 40% attack speed

Tbh I am liking this slayer's path thing bc of the last part were instead of having a power creep, it's a constant power buff for the veteran slayers.
I'm a veteran and this power buff is crap because of the ridiculous costs and grinding time required. Not worth the effort.

In answer to your question about attack speed, I like how you can add more speed BUT some weapons should have more speed for example chain blades they're so slow when you think about it this weapon SHOULD be much faster, and I didn't understand the empowerment like if I reforged the strikers I get more attack speed on all the other weapons (sword/chain blades/ex..) and what if I don't play strikers I still can reforge them for attack speed right?
So does this reset all of our progress we’ve made so far in the game if we are veterans along with resetting our gear back to zero or do they give us the proper amount of currency to max out nodes if we already have everything maxed and unlocked right now in game?

@@hyperchunky7299 you'll lose some power but the power surging you can do with the aetherhearts helps keep the overall loss to a minimum. Think the article talking about it was a straight +100 improvement to the power/resistance of the item being improved while also being how you got the +3 perk on your gear in the new system

In just 2 days i got my pass level to 25. Dauntless got addicting. Especially because it became so smooth going from one behemoth to another and not wait through 3 minute loading screens and matchmaking to fight 1 monster
For me personally, I would love Dough's suggestion of boosting attack speed. I'm kind of newer to the game, but I've tried every weapon, and the heavy hitters could really use a boost in attack speed. It doesn't have to be an insane boost, but enough to make them feel good to play.
I might replay the game from a beginner cuz this looks really awesome

In hunting grounds my support build actually supports the team more effectively. I just have to grind all over again to get the repeater to do enough damage for gaining shields.

One thing i am wondering...is power surging the only way to level up gears that were not +15 already before the rework? It seems that I have to reforge if I want, say, get my Rage or Savagery back to +6 because the perk levels are decreased on my gears : (

attack speed is the thing when you have it you feel it too much or not enough, when you dont have it you want it. they should just buff overall attack speed and only let few weapon able to increase attack speed on their own {special/mod)
Seems like it's harder to have multiple weapons and armor sets at a decent level. Before I remember you could use guns then if you wanted you could use your resourced to upgrade the other things you want to mess with like gauntlets. But now it seems like it will take a lot more resources to be able to do the same thing.

They need to increase the buffs from the tree they look so underwhelming so little bumps in crit and more I hope in trying to reduce power creep they don't just nerf hammer us into the ground like a shroud slam
Note to all new players.
Just because a weapon does a load of damage, it does not mean you should choose it. If you cannot dodge almost 100% of the time, you are a burden.
But you also want to help the team I here you say. It's fine if you can dodge, but I would prefer a teammate with a chain blade rather than a teammate with a hammer who cannot stay on their feet.
I use the spear. I an great at wounding behemoths as well as flat out killing them. But if I have a teammate with a chain blade, they are able to wreck the wounded parts.
I hate it. It locks you into only one type of weapon and grind is a million times worse. Also even if you have finished all mastery and have all the champion gear and everything at 15 you now feel like you've just started again

Understanding the slayers path isnt hard. It's just a skill tree like in other games and you have an explanation on how to unlock each node, literally on it. What I am confused about is the upgrade and up leveling system, especially on armors. I do not understand the level of my armor and how strong I am. I had my armor lvl 11 before, I dont know how to tell its level now. Perhaps I missed some stuff but a video on that would be much appreciated. I believe beginners expecting a Monster Hunter style game will be most confused .
Taking a break from dauntless and playing other games really made me realize and dislike having to use wild frenzy and speed boost i do wish we got natural attack speed boost

I get why Dauntless has attack speed as a variable that Slayers can change, but for us regular players that just want to hunt, attack speed should just be at a baseline standard.
It sucks that slayers have to account for how fast a weapon deals damage on top of what cells they would need for their hunts.
So with any weapon. That mean that I get the stag or speed with sword or any weapon i use or just for example. I get the speed with any gloves.

So what im hearing is a built in catalyst. Even though we might be losing buff from escalation. I dont think its going to be as much of a decrease in power overall. Im honestly looking forward to playing this update
They are removing the capacitor's tripled power in escalation and only allowing it to add to your power/resistance in escalation. Keeps regular hunts more balanced
Catalyst is always gonna be a top tier cell for those who can maintain their tonic counts

To be able to knock down the strongest bosses in all Dauntless Now I can't even with levels 5 ... and I emphasize I have played since Dauntless began and also had my things level +15 both my swords and my accessories, I do not know what happened but that They did not calculate it well, Macana & everyone Who its Just a Partner does not say anything about that because they give everything to them and they can upload anything, but those who do not, we lost a lot of power and many things, also I even had a bug with the parachute xD And all my equipment got stuck and I couldn't attack I had to leave Dauntless, but well bugs nothing serious, hurts me more all the effort, so that I can't even continue with the weekly challenge because now I don't have attack and i cant resist anything that happens with this. kill 1500 times every behemonth to have all very good. And do not even give you 30% of what I had .. uff had to say a lot of effort actually more than 900 times in climbs for this !!!! I think that many with these new changes will not play again, the truth is, we lost a lot and when I say a lot is enough .. I emphasize that I could only improve one of my armors only once. He did it too, let's hope they listen to us because if this looks like a Meme ......

So they take away things and overcharge for rams to get things unlocked
They didn't take away much if anything on the slayers path. You actually unlock more now though. 8 flasks is an example

Whatever you can't keep/have transferred, you're given currencies to compensate for it (aetherhearts, combat merits, etc.)
Don's listen to Edgar cuz the compensation is crap. You do lose damage and levels and you definitely do not have the equivalent anymore. You don't have to unlock certain things again, but you do have to grind to build it up again through a completely different progression system.

@@SchrollShepard the compensation. Several of the players (even ohdough) have said they are missing millions of rams, so there was not any proper compensation. I was a little hot headed though, because they called the lacking compensation "generous" and the only reference to the loss of levels (1-15) and the change to tiers was the line "personal loss" and thats it. That was my fault for letting it bother me too much, and I am sorry for how I reacted to you.

I reforged my swords pistols and strikers I’m trying to use twin subs but it won’t let me access the twin suns tab to level them up plus all of my weapons and armor are level 1 again and I only have the option to power surge them not level them up is this a bug or did I miss something?

How Am I supposed to upgrade ARMOR when I need Aetherhearts???
The Armor doesn't level up the way Weapons do, they STAY at the basic level, which means +1 on the PERK.
I want +3 PERKS but the only way I have found to make Aetherhearts is to level a weapon to lvl 20 and spend 100 Aethersparks to get ONE Aetherheart!!!!
So if I want to do a Trail that requires MAX level stuff you CANT do that without leveling up to level 20 A LOT OF TIMES just to get everything to +3 PERKS?!?!?!
The game gave you 1 Aetherheart for each Weapon or armor you had at level 15, but I had almost everything at level 10 because that was the minimum level needed to get +3 PERKS...
Now I only got Armor with +1 PERKS!!!!!!
Why did they not give the HEARTS for each level 10 instead??? I only got a few Aetherhearts now, I cant upgrade everything I had with +3 PERKS!!!

Every max prestige I ever saw on a cod was a rat.
I would much rather have weapons be good out of box, and better with mods. Personally they should add not flawless mod builds too, like increase speed when you get hit and stuff.

In the crafting page the frostbite prison says it deals 3,000 damage over 30 seconds, but in my inventory/equipment it says 1,000... Which is correct? Is that a big? Do I need to upgrade it cause I honestly don't know how to do that since the update?

they didn't even bother test the update before the release. if you use bulwark it will eventually glitch and you'll stop taking dmg at all.

@@filippobertone4255 when you die just mash the hotkey for bulwark before you get up. it works on xbox. once you do it you wont take dmg at all. you just turn into godmode.
i really dont wanna cheat. im new to the game and bulwark is really useful for new players like me but it is broken right now atleast on xbox.
