Seems like a lot of them have problems with being disrespected and under appreciated. I’m kinda scared of that now I’m doing pre-requisites now for RT school
I love this and I definitely agree that we are under appreciated for what we do. At my hospital, our entire nursing staff is so amazing to us but as a whole the profession is not appreciated as much as it should be!
Thank you for this kind of content. I work inpatient phlebotomy in my hospital. I've worked in the OR for many years as an anesthesia tech, so only saw one side of nursing. When I went to the floors phlebing, I got to interact with the RTs and even shadow them. Interact with their director. I was riding the fence for a while on if nursing or RT was for me. And seeing what I see in the hospital RT fits me wayyyy more than nursing.
It is true about the nurses and doctors I have literally pulled some aside and reminded them that we are supposed to be a team and I am not below them no matter the title.
Awesome video, thank you! Love hearing new perspectives. Also lol to the guy who said his favorite / non favorite thing was free food / lack of free food Thanks and sending love from Toronto
Update 10 months later! I saw this video on my recommendation and decided to watch it again only to see I have commented already! I am officially a RT! 3 months already and it’s been a lot :(. A lot of reoccurring deaths, yelling, alarms, beeping, and nightmares of the hospital and/or death .. It doesn’t get better
Hi Cecilla, thanks for sharing the awesome video I found it insightful. The best part of the video was @ 5:50 :P If you could go back in time, would you decide to become an RT? Diego.
so can the work life balance depend where you work at? i laughed when the guy said it takes away from the gym because i could relate to the gym lol. this is something i just recently am debating in going
Definitely where you work and how your schedule looks. At my hospital it’s possible to work 6 days in a row and get 8 off. Some places only require 8 hrs and some will do 12’s. I think it can be really flexible
@@ceciliaamorena3353 thanks! I’m interested in becoming an RT. I just need to take Chemistry as the final prerequisite and then see if I can get into this fall semester.
Thank you for the videos. I just have a question. I've been a Paramedic for 17 years in a very busy 911 system. I'm entering Respiratory school soon. As a Paramedic, will my background provide a step up in the Respiratory program? Thank you very much.
@@kristenlevaur9449 Thank you again ma'am. That made my day. I'm chugging along. This program is taking my present skill set to the next level and beyond. Thank you for the invite. Have an awesome day.

I love nurses who are understanding 💕 it’s nice to meet other people in the RT community 🤗

Asking these questions will bring solutions for improving both the life/shift of the RRT and the patient! Thank you for your vlogs!

For sure!! I would love to have you at MUSC once you graduate! Hit up the Medical University of South Carolina and ask Kristen Y the RT.
