Heck Ford is getting 100 horsepower per liter out of the naturally aspirated 5.0. Dark Horse Mustang is 500 HP off the showroom floor. Imagine with a supercharger.
What engine development all they did was add a turbo…yea it’s pretty impressive for a small engine but the 392 natural aspirated engines are true engine development
I own a Grand Wagoneer with the high output i6 and also a Ram 1500 with the 5.7. The 5.7 feels better to drive around town, more responsive and eager to go. The turbo Wagoneer has bad lag in normal driving.
That's difficult to say. The 3rd gen hemi had an oiling issue. Inline-6 tend to be the most reliable engine design. However, this is a stressed engine where the hemi was not.
Could have just put a Hemi in it and been done with it. Instead they are compensating with a smaller booster engine that will not have the same rumble, sound or feel of torque. To put down the same HP numbers ON PAPER they have to force compressed air into the engine, effectively raising the displacement. When reaching max RPM the i6 will be working so hard, while the Hemi is just doing what it does, all by itself.

The german engines have longer strokes, usually the longer the stroke the more aggressive/throaty the engine sounds. They would would even better if they were NA, as everyone knows NA always sounds better
It won't be long before the guy on " I do cars " channel is tearing one of these I6 down after catastrophic failure. There's no replacement for displacement. Jeep just needs to throw the Cummings in it and be done with it or just keep the hemi option . A little turbo 3 liter will never last hauling a wagoneer around for 200k .
I hate to say this but if you need it and you have to take several seconds to change all the modes around to get it that Peterbilt is going to hit you. That's what I miss about the old school stuff the instant hit when you needed it. When you have to reactivate cylinders, wait on torque management and build boost there's going to be a delay. That delay will stop you from getting my money.
I did all of those settings cause most of the time commenters will say - how’s it do without traction control and other limiters kicking in. Engine in this Wagoneer was very responsive and torquey. The low end grunt blows my 5.7 hemi away and once it hits boost, there’s no comparison.

I would guess that there's a least a 2 second delay with that Hemi before it's in the right gear and giving you all it's got. That new engine is exciting but something that very telling is the fact that the 5.7 and 6.4 Hemi were available in a 1 ton and the Hurricane is not.

It's the same engine being tossed in the charger. It Def won't kill it if it's not 24/7 tbh. The engine alone is making alot of power stock so fuel economy isn't much better than it was with a V8. U could easily toss that same logic with a bmw x4m with a I6 that makes similar power and people treat those the same/throw power at them.
So basically, my manual wrangler is faster. Good to know. This new i6 with turbos is not going to end well. Rebuilds at 40k will be pricey. And the 3.6 P and 5.7 H will always outperform it.
I have a 2019 Ram with the Hemi and honestly the i6 is way more torquey off the bottom and once it’s in boost it has almost an electric like pull through the rpm range. I would take this engine over the hemi in a heart beat just from a driving experience stand point. Maintenance is TBD for sure.

Yeah but in line v6 from other companies has proven to be reliable. It remains to be seen with fiat running dodge now. It does have more power than the scatpack though and with mods i heard this version is way below what the engine can handle. So it has potential to be faster then some hellcat models plus it shaves a lot of engine weight.

You can get the 392 Hemi in it and the 392 is actually quicker from a roll and 5-60 oddly the tests of 0-5 the Twin Turbo is .02 quicker

@@BigBadJohn I usually disable cylinder deactivation via manual mode. I believe the 5th gen rams have the same transmission as the Wagoneer too (ZF8).
