Roman, you can actually get to the Lightroom camera really quick by adding the Lightroom widget to your widget screen. That way you can swipe right and take the picture, as fast as the iOS camera. To make sure is fastest, you can organize the widgets so that Lightroom Widget is one of the top ones. Hope that helps.

Roman, I have watched a shed load of your TH-cam vids over the past few weeks and I love your anti snob attitude. I was looking at landscape photography as a hobby but wondering how I can do this in the weird world we currently live in. Bang! Street photography. I’ve always loved it. Thank you for approaching the subject in a no snob way. You seem to have a ‘Good Is Good’ attitude and how you get there is that person’s business. I find this an inspiration, thank you 👍🏻

The best camera is the camera you have on you at all times. (Pro tip: You can use the volume buttons are your shutter release on IPhone and Andriod.)
i think phone cameras like the newer are better quality than digital camera that cost like between 5000 or 10'000 dollars
like my android phone has way more megapixels than digital more detail and for the dslr that is the same as digital like why not buy a extra lens and stick it on your phone and you shoot better background blur photos
@@AD-ww4hd that's not true. Phones these days may have high resolution sensors but the lens Infront of that sensor can not even come close to resolving that much detail. The much smaller pixels also significantly reduces the dynamic range and the ability to gather light.
Phone cameras are absolutely incredible for quickly grabbing a convenient shot and they are very usable in modern phones with the computational photography advancements recently, but at the end of the day the quality of the files do not come close to a big sensor. For example having to use night mode for acceptable quality in low light instead of a big sensor being able to snap instant high quality photos. There is only so many situations where processing power can make up for the lack of the hardware being there in the first place

in digital the shot looks cinematic and natural blur
but the difference i spotted is that on phone photo it looks much more sharper
while the digital all the photo looks like that they added 10% blur on all the photo
idk about you but i like my photos sharp and clean
also you cant know what will happened in the future someday a phone will surpass digital i mean have u even seen how the phones are evolving so big each year that goes to mobile photography as well
@@AD-ww4hd I agree and phones are getting incredible but the reason they are improving is because of software such as night mode. That software is simply trying to emulate what a real camera can do without the need for sitting still for multiple seconds. Phones and digital cameras work in identical ways and as phone camera hardware gets better so does full on camera hardware. You have tonnes more flexibility with a bigger sensor and interchangable lenses, you can even stop the apature down to make them equivalent to a phone where literally everything is sharp or open it up to obliterate the background and get insane low light performance.
Phones are amazing for 90% of the time but at the end of the day you can't beat physics and having a bigger sensor and bigger apature lens that lets a lot more light in can't be simulated or done with software.

My phone has always been my other camera and yes, it can take as good a picture in perfect conditions as the camera . It is knowing the limitation of your gear and playing to the strength of the tool you are using to minimise failure . This is a good old fashion business concept adapted to the pursuit of getting the best image where possible .

2 years later and this is still a great video only now we have pixel 7 pros and iphone 14 pros galaxy s 22 ultras its psossible to take even better street photography photos from a smart phone -again it wont replace my canon with 22 mm lens but were getting there

I have two phones, one for calls and stuff... and one for photography. A cheap Honor 8X for use and a rather more costly Sony Xperia 1 ii for the images and video. Great video.

Really enjoyed this.... My phone choice is somewhat dictated by the camera and it is always interesting to see how other people view it. I agree that in 'normal' mode they can be effective but as the Light lessens or the zoom is used they become snaps for social media and even this is sometimes dodgy.
I use Photoshop Express for processing in my Android world.... I got what was considered to be the 'best' phone for camera but I sill carry a little Sony RX100 Iv with me.

The examples of people calling when you're about to take an award winning shot are oddly specific...
You're about to take the award winning shot, but then grandma calls to wish you happy birthday even though she is already late by 2 days now. Luckily the subject hasn't left yet but then your former roommate from when you studied abroad in France texts you saying they sent you money for the security deposit to cover the damage in the wall from the last party. You quickly close the text but then the bank app comes up to tell you about the money transfer. You check to see that the transfer went through ok and it did so now it is time to take the picture. As you are about to take the shot a Mafia hit-man comes and shoots the subject dead and in the commotion you miss the shot. Another nearby photographer with a real camera successfully photographs the murder and later on becomes a world renowned documentary photographer. And that's why a dedicated camera > smart phone.
I would have liked an example of a man disturbing you.
It's really sad that people consider phones as OK while cameras as suspicious 😕
its a shame that people think its all in the camara, its what you see not the camara and your creativity ,in the old day you had a film roll 36 photos so you look all round be for you took the photo, thanks for the video,greeting from holland
I am ogree about shooting in raw. Stock camera app many times does the overharpen (unless in pro mode). In raw i can clean all those imperfections and even i can make a somewhat analog look

I have a pixel 4a I use an iphone 11 pro as my primary device but I want to put some use into the pixel 4a instead not of using it would it work for street photography?
Good tips but I think you're kind of underselling the value of the phamera (did I just say that?). I have all the bells and whistles in studio lighting, DSLR, high end bridge camera, and at least with the latter 2, I don't have to lug anything anymore. I'm studying formally the use of the iPhone camera and it's going to be my new go to. check out the app Mobiography. It's pretty amazing. Next on the list is an actual macro lens ;) Happy day.

Hello again I now only use my phone I've had a number of cameras in the past now at the age where I don't want to carry heavy gear around my Samsung s21 is very good if a little to sharp I've now got to the stage where I'm not going Pro just taking photos for fun...
It’s kinda a critical for mobile photography,but the snapping pictures getting faster and some phones like hwawei and Sony are very nice. But the camera works better in photography and a point and shoot camera is better to do photography when you need something small and want to be a bit more discreet
i didn't get the reason why having a proper camera in and around places like canary wharf stands out to the security? are specific permissions required for these places?
Roman, you really miss the point. Street Photography is capturing the moment not obtaining the highest resolution etc, etc. Look at some of the masters of this genre, Elliott Erwitt, Vivian Maier and Henri Cartier Bresson, their images which were often soft in focus and comparatively poor resolution but the images they captured are still highly admired.
I too have an all singing all dancing Fuji binky bonk. But today I was able to take with my smartphone, seventeen images of a couple of gentlemen just a metre away from me in a coffee house, having a rather animated conversation and they were totally unaware I was photographing them. I couldn’t have done that with my Fuji. CAPTURING THE MOMENT trumps all.
Exactly! The hobby of photography is not the exclusive domain of people with proper cameras. I hate it when people like this compare photos by resolution instead of the subject themselves. Just enjoy the process whatever tools you use but that's not good enough for snobs like this guy!!

Default camera does have raw on iPhone. You just have to enable it in the camera settings.
What app you use for expose?
My view is the Samsung S24 Ultra is a phone. A computer. A work tool. A full camera. An office. In fact it's an awesome tool in your pocket. It's a money making devise better than all other.
oh my god I get yelled at all the tie with DSLR but with iPhone nope. I went to London (I'm from NY) and I'm not used to security coming around me for taking pictures of a building. I get it they have their reasons, but it's really startling considering in US very rarely to I get told off for taking photos. Even when I got to Washington DC , hang out in front of executive buildings and Whitehouse, and I can take pics with my big 70-200 of people coming out of the 2 building and the grounds. I even point my camera at secret service and they don't care.-Even if I'm right next to them. In Paris, same exactly thing happened as London basically. I got yelled at for taking photos near military buildings and one gentleman accused me of trying to secretly take pics of him! I told my husband, if it was an iPhone, (in this case a Leica was being used) then he wouldn't come for me. You'd be doing it all day, the amount of tourists with phones that go through there to get to museums! I guess you guys are used to it and smart about it in London, thank you for making me feel better. I felt like a criminal
Which phone are you using though?? No issues with my 12 pro max or s21 ultra in pro mode
Because Huawei basically don't fully open up the Camera 2 API, I cannot successful use third party camera apps. That being said Huawei is one of the best. Nova 5T midrange handset doing just fine.
I got the nova 5t to its a great phone you can use pro mode on the camera and it works a little bit you should try it 👍

I will respectfully disagree on not having good results on low light/night time photos with a cell phone.
My Pixel 3A is very good for low light or night time.

I'm not sure about iphones but with my Pixel the raw file is 11 MB which might not be the best size for a large print but normally my photos are posted on social media and I very seldom make prints anymore.

I recently found a 2017 article in Magnum where Alex Webb shot some sort of smartphone in Shanghai. The results were great. I think we trick ourselves into thinking we get better when we buy new gear.
Apple should revive the iPod Touch and give them camera specs that’s similar to the iPhone SE, or say the iPhone 12 or 13 (base or pro models). So that way, you have some of the same functionality and quality of the iPhone cameras, and people can take mobile photos with no phone call and/or text interruptions. They’re slowly doing that with iPads, so I don’t see why they can’t bring iPod Touch devices back and give them upgrades, especially when they know that almost half of their consumers are beginning to use mobile photography as their gig/business.

Good for developing an eye for photography and getting into the habit. Then when the bug has properly bitten move on to an SLR.
If you have a recent Samsung (Better cameras than Iphone) you can shoot in Raw using the Pro Mode.
Hello Roman, I’m sorry that this is completely unrelated to the video. I’m considering getting the XF 50-140 (like I don’t have enough Fuji lenses) but I remember on your review of the lens you mentioned that you were going to talk to Fuji about the lens hood issue (difficult to connect/disconnect), did you ever get it resolved or are you still waiting for the chinese virus to be over?

@@snapsbyfox It’s my new toy, now when I go out to take photos around town I just bring the XF 16-80 and the XF 55-200, I’m getting lazy. LOL the XF 100-400 is just for keeping my distance from alligators and whatever else I find in the Everglades (South Florida).

The phone has a dual purpose and everyone has one, The phone cam is evolving an expediential pace compared to DSLR's, I think the future of the "pro cam" will be pocket sized an look similar to a phone, with a decent dslr sensor, everything the XT4 has in your pocket. just look at the I phone12 Pro Max, believe me it's not far off.
I hope so haha.... I have an neck injury so carrying around heavy gear is not ideal haha

primes lens all ways good,i have nikon 1.4 50 mm great lens
I use the 15 -35 sigma art and the 50 mm 1.8, they perfom very well, the f 2 should perfom well as well

Moment is great photo app for your phone. You get a raw file for photo and video but you have to pay for the app.
8:26 I was surprised you did not mention Open Camera as the best app. I use it as my #1 camera app and on top it is open source which means your karma will provide you with eternal life because you support our society and you give a sharing economy a chance (check www.gnu.org if you do not know the ideology behind open source and the almighty and crazy Richard Stallman)

I live in the Android eco-system and have never owned an iPhone, so enlighten me if I fell pray to those who are plagued with lack of knowledge and wisdom. (I am not Donald Trump however).

Sorry to disagree with you, saying phones are crap, try a proper phone instead of outdated iPhones. I use both the Huawei p20 pro and p30 pro, and I can get shots that are as good as my canon dslrs.
Sorry Roman, but smartphones do not take CRAP photos, as you said, even in less than optimal light… You should see those I take with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Many great photographers in these forums agree that Phones can take great photos, often as good as a camera, especially for sharing on Internet.
