Two questions. 1. How does striking velocity work with triggered samples? For example, when you load in a snare sample, but you are striking at different velocities, does the same sample just play quieter or louder? Or are there dozens of different samples that are triggered, depending upon your strike velocity? 2. Do you know you control gates with an SPD while using RT-30 series triggers on an acoustic set?
1. It depends on the software. Modern drum plugins such as Superior Drummer and Steven Slate Drums use tons of samples and depending on the velocity, trigger a different sample. Some of them will even let you adjust which sample triggers at which velocities. Older or low end plugins will just change the volume though. 2. No idea
