I purchased one and installed it... easy enough to do, except that it doesn't work for the early 2010 Tundra. Come to find out you need a "G" key which corresponds to the type of ignition you have. I have a "dot" key so it didn't work... it doesn't program. My bad for not reading that in the description listed on Amazon. Support was helpful and quick to get back to me and was kind enough to explain the difference. I didn't realize there was a difference until now.
I have a 2014 Tundra double cab and I’m getting ready to install the start x remote start. I noticed on your truck you didn’t feed a wire to the passenger side tpms connector is that on the driver side in the 2019 tundra?
Great video with step by step instructions! I just bought a 2020 Tundra. A little secret that a lot of people don't know is that most late model Toyota cars and trucks already have remote start from the factory. Press the lock button twice and hold down on the third press. It's a little tricky getting the button press timing down. It works on my 2020 Tundra. Mine has push button start, not sure if that makes a difference or not. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much. And yeah, our Tundra did not have that function. But, our Camry does. But, it's extremely annoying. The car shuts off as soon as you open the door. So, you yet again have to start the car. Great hearing from you. Thanks so much!
I agree, it is annoying. Whether i use the toyota app or the key fob, the truck shuts off when the door is opened and only runs 10 minutes. I love my Tundra but question toyota's thinking on some of their engineering. @DadsGarageDIY
@@SmokingDeWalt Yeah. It is really really annoying. I have no idea what they are thinking on this. I have never had a car with remote start before that does this.
Thanks for the video. Couple of questions. Once the truck has been remotely started from the outside of the truck, then i get in, do i then need to place the key into the ignition and turn to "on" position in order to drive? Have you heard of or experienced any problems with seat or steering wheel controls once installed and working? Do you happen to know the max range at which the remote starting kit works? Thanks in advance!
Hi Garrett. Great questions. Yes you have to put the key in and turn it. Just to the run position though. If you go to far it will want to engage the starter. Learned the hard way a few times. I have experienced zero problems. This video is 3 years old. We still have the truck. My wife loves the remote start. It is a game changer for her. She uses it every day. Zero issues with anything since the install. I don't know the range. My guess is maybe 50'. It is certainly further than my 2024 Camry's factory setup has. Great hearing from you!
I’ve got a sneaky suspicion this will be your new #1 video. 😁. I just bought a 2016 Tundra Crewmax. Greetings from GA! 🍑👋🏾
Thanks so much for the kind comments! Really appreciated. We just have the 2wd. I will get into more maintenance on the Tundra. But, they will probably come a little slow because of 2 things....We don't put a lot of miles on ours and Toyota's just don't break. But, I will keep them coming as available. I wonder if you can get an aftermarket remote with one touch remote start, I cant see my fob lasting too long if I have to press the lock button so many times.

Yes. It will work exactly as you leave the controls when you left the truck. Not at all. Ours is a little weird. It starts every time for my wife. For me most times I have to try 2 or 3 times. I think it may be a little picky with the timing between clicks.
