Thanks for taking the time to check these out and throughly demo them. We couldn't be prouder and are looking forward to seeing what people end up creating with them!
Why no headphone output and aux in? I played for 22 years and since one year I have a hotone nano on my pedalboard, just for practice playing with TH-cam... I play way more than I used to.. at night, no neighbour's complaining, ... I play way more at home than with the band, or on stage... to only reason I would buy a new preamp is to dump the nano and EH preamppedal ... please next time aux in and headphone out?
The tones sound incredible coming out of this pedal. The way you put together the demo was really helpful as well. Nice work as always. Appreciate you guys.
They sound fantastic.I love preamps and have some good ones. Now I have one more as I'm waiting on a 64'.Yeah they're pricey but I'm an old time bassist and life's short.
This is super cool! Can't wait to watch the demo of the Super Vintage, now! I'm pretty sure at least one of these two is gonna make it into my pedal collection (and on my board)! Thanks for the demo!
Ampegs are absolutely amazing, I’ve got one myself. But the Fender Bassman is the OG. Without the Bassman we wouldn’t have the amazing bass amps we have today
So the bassman is the all tube pre-cursor to the 69 Ampeg SVT? I really would love to invest in the 50th Anniversary SVT heritage with the two channels of Ampeg’s best era ‘69 and ‘75 but it’s a $2700 head
@@xero_2003 Right now I have an Orange AD200 MK III head, but I can’t get it to have the SVT tone, even after putting GE 6550 tubes in it, which tells me the SVT Analog circuitry is completely different ( no comparison) The Orange I guess does the Orange thing really good, but I’m looking to invest in the $2700 50th SVT Heritage that I mentioned in the above thread! Maybe I’ll keep the Orange for the small shows and use it in the Fall/ Winter, and bring out the Ampeg for the bigger shows in the Spring/ Summer, my band is performing at Summerfest July 1st but I don’t have the finances for the SVT configuration I want, so I might just snag this pedal or the Origin Effects “Super Vintage Bass Rig” and run that D.I and Mic the Orange head/ 1X15 Cab at that show.
@@bassplayer807 that ain’t a bad idea at all Right now I’ve got it where I’ve got a decently smaller Peavey amp I use for small shows and practices and I’ve got a Ampeg combo I use for main shows
As always, great comprehensive review. My thoughts. This pedal has all the classic lo-fi tones, but adds rich harmonics and add a ton of character. It's not a jack of all trades, but it is a master of one.
You say you're using the direct out to Tascam to demonstrate just the sound of the pedal but with many modern amps like a Genz Benz or Genzler for example you could take the signal from this device out to the effect in loop allowing this to act as the pre-amp stage. Not sure if I'd be willing to drop $500 plus tax to see if I'd be happy with it !
another epic content as always. I am currently using a black edition DCX Bass in EQ mode as a tone shaper with my Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon. Now, I'm just waiting for my OE Bass Rig 64 Black to arrive to add to my minimalist fly rig. I plan to place the Bass Rig at the end of the chain (EBMM Stingray 4 > DCX Bass > DG Alpha Omega Photon > 64 Black). I intend to use the DCX Bass as a boost or for my clean tone, and have my Darkglass drive the Bass Rig. Considering that they are all preamps, would it be too much to have three preamps on one board? If you can please create a content stacking pre amps like origin with darkglass would be killer.
Yo! Do a payment plan with zzounds or your online retailer of choice! Softens the blow a bit and makes it more manageable and affordable with respect to the price! 🍻
Nice videos! Comparing the two BASSRIG you just tested, is it normal that I prefer the black one? While the blue seems to be more defined the other sounds so bassy and warm… lovely!
can you run the 64 black panel and the vintage bass rig with a a@b switch through a powered speaker and have two deferent amps at hand and if so what powed speaker would work frfr cant find an answer anywhere on youtube about this
The only thing lacking in any of these is the ability to switch between clean and dirty via foot switch..... Here is an ideaa that would sell like hot cakes ..imagine origin did a 3 way pedal....like a dcx..the 60s tig and the svt all in one..... separate setting via foot switch....kinda like the old Vt deluxe from tech 21....except with the cali pedals......man
This might be THE pedal I've been seeking. I was kinda bummed that Darkglass seemed to be dominating the small form-factor preamp space, as sometimes I just want a "Plain" amp tone. \m/

So glad that you're showing bassists some love! I have a RevivalDrive Custom that I use for both guitar and bass, but I bet this will be even better!
Yes as the previous poster said thank you for thinking of us bassists! This sounds great and seems very flexible. Brent, VT

For a pedal like this, a late 60s Guild Starfire bass with Pyramid flat wounds would be great to hear. It's the San Francisco sound!

Awesome preamp. 😎🤘🏻🎸 it’s got a nice rich tone and it sounds incredible with every bass that’s been demoed. Both active and passive.

From all the reviews I can find, this included, the ‘64 is going to be my pick. I play a stingray special HH.
Very well done Demo! Thanks!

Sounds incredible. I've wanted a Fender-based bass preamp for a long time, this is it.... So who wants to buy a kidney? Hardly used.

Not odd at all.The blue sounds great but there's too many preamps with the Ampeg tone stack.
I wonder how this would work with regular electric guitar as a BF fender preamp.
I bet it'd sound great.I played with many guitarist that used the bassman and 2x15 or 2x12 cabs. They sounded fantastic.
I have a master effects super 800 on its way

Active basses are the best 👌

The P and J tones from this were meh... then the Stingray absolutely shined
I don't think you're the target audience for this pedal, then.

Lots of good preamp pedals with non DG sound.I should know,I buy way too much of this shit.
