I was torn between these two, but i ended up buying the Capo because of the versatility. Two DI signals with the FX loops and the different preamps make every sound imaginable!

The Capo is an astounding bit of kit. People are so friggin smart, coming up with this stuff.

The BassRig's overdrive almost sounds like a synth. Very cool! Thanks for the vid, very helpful

the level of detail is really outstanding out in your video! It also makes perfect sense to talk about the usecases with effects imo.

What an awesome video 👍 I went and bought a Caveman BP1, but I think I am going to get a Capo as well - they sound amazing and it’s so versatile! Thanks for a great vid

Thank you so much for this! Wish there was as thorough and real a review of the SVT one, compared to a dif SVT pre like you've done here would be a treat

Been too long Rob. Love you taking the time to engage with us, your craft and talent is deeply valued 👌🏼 curious to know when you’d change the tone controls on the bass itself vs the pedals and how that affects the overall tone?

    • @RobinMullarkey

Hey Simon. I rarely touch the bass tone pot once I find the sweet spot. Usually around 7/10 depending on the bass

I’m really interested in the BassRig.
Could I use this with say a Fender Rumble as my cab? It has a XLR out.
Or would a FRFR speaker like a Headrush or Tonemaster FRFR10 be better?

    • @RobinMullarkey
      @RobinMullarkey  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

The bassrig has 1/4" and XLR outputs. I think you're asking about pairing with a neutral sounding active speaker and I imagine that would work great. Be aware that the XLR output includes speaker modelling

Great Review of these two pedals ,hard to have a fave but. I think I would have liked a backing track ,but there was a lota good chat to get in, about the possibilities . Thanks a lot for the Vid

Thank you for this great comparison, I really like how you bring out some details. I'm currently looking for a supplement or expansion for my clean Glockenklang (test)amp, and I have these two pedals on my shortlist. And now, thanks to your video, I now want to have both ....😉 greetings from Munich, Andi

Great video again Rob, Thanks! I'll be going for the Bass Rig. Also, curious what you might think of the Markbass vintage pre-amp. Have been hesitating to buy one for months now. Hearing great things about that pedal.

Thanks for the video, helped me decide on which to get. I know what you mean now (having bought it) when you said the eq on the BassRig was flattering, subtle but very nice. The Capo sounds like a great pedal as well. Spoiled for choice.

another epic content as always. I am currently using a black edition DCX Bass in EQ mode as a tone shaper with my Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon. Now, I'm just waiting for my OE Bass Rig 64 Black to arrive to add to my minimalist fly rig. I plan to place the Bass Rig at the end of the chain (EBMM Stingray 4 > DCX Bass > DG Alpha Omega Photon > 64 Black). I intend to use the DCX Bass as a boost or for my clean tone, and have my Darkglass drive the Bass Rig. Considering that they are all preamps, would it be too much to have three preamps on one board? If you can please create a content stacking pre amps like origin with darkglass would be killer.

I got turned on to the Capo by Tim Lefebvre. I liked it so much, I got a second one for a travel board. It's an amazing preamp.

a little late to the party here. but I feel it's very unfortunate that the EQ on the BassRig doesn't engage without the Drive turned on... that's why I sold mine and got the Capo - which I really like. cheers, great video!

Great Video. Both are outstanding pieces of gear. And expensive. If you could afford only one, which one would recommend for an overall flexible use? Or which one would you prefer for what reason? Thanks

1 thing the settings on the BassRig are not flat. Like a Bassman flat is with the bass all the way off and the mid all the way up.

    • @RobinMullarkey

Hi Brian. I don't believe the pedal is designed the same way. Eq controls at 12 o'clock are flat

@@profile2047 Simon stated that it has a Fender tonestack. A fender tonestack does not have a mid boost (only cut) and is flat with the bass and treble control at zero and the bass control above zero around 8-9 o'clock (as tested on my Bassrig '64). BTW, I own both the Origin Bassrig '64 (and the Super Vintage).

Hey, does anyone have the Shift Line Olympic and the Jad Freer Audio Capo. Both seem like awesome pre-amps. Would love to hear the Shift Line Olympic and the JAD Freer Audio CAPO in a comparison video. If anyone who viewed this video wants to compare them in a video, that would be great.

Non sono affatto di mio gusto. Secondo me sono scorregge, non suoni musicali.
Pagare per bene per scorreggiare tanto. Questa è la nuova moda, nelle mie annate (70-80) il suono del basso era tutt'altra cosa.
