There’s one important thing that you didn’t mention. In channel chasers, Timmy actually has the opportunity to get rid of Vicky for good, but he chooses not to because he doesn’t want to risk not needing Cosmo and Wanda anymore. One of the reasons he never chooses to permanently get rid of any of his problems is because he doesn’t want to lose them sooner than he would have to
On the one hand, you're correct about how not everything 'needs' a Watsonian reason to be the way it is within a given narrative. However, this does mostly ignore the primary reason that most people enjoy weird fan-theories and the sharing of them - because it is a method of creating *additional narrative*. It is a practice not unlike writing fanfiction, but with its own self-imposed set of limitations and rules that make it an artform all its own: "What if we treated these things without strong diagetic reasons behind them as though they did have such reasons? What would that imply? What evidence exists within the narrative to support one given such Watsonian reason over another?" The very process of digging for 'lore' is its own artistic expression undertaken as a result of thoroughly enjoying a work of fiction. And this lore/theorycrafting can often go on to spawn other fanfiction writing that expands on it, creating more new stories as a result. The performative aspect of this theorycrafting and head-canoning tends to involve 'taking it seriously', often because there is humorous value in treating something as unserious as, for example, a children's cartoon, as a subject of serious analysis with significant depth. Part of this comes from a sort of shared cultural memory of English Lit classes in highschool or college in which the lens of lit-crit is placed squarely over 'the classics', important pieces of media that 'deserve' such attention.
I'd say that for other kids on worse situations than Timmy, maybe they revealed their secret, like Tootie was about to do, almost no kid kept them for even a year
Exactly Maybe they did have fairys and they told someone of they just got found out Also it's possible many of the kids we see also have fairys but they are just much better at hiding them so Timmy never found out like he did with remmy. So for all we know Trixie, aj, the bully or boil boy have fairys and Timmy hasn't seen them so the audience hasn't as well
I don’t like that you don’t talk about his PARENTS EMOTIONAL NEGLECT Coz you can have all the riches & physical stuff, but they mean NOTHING when when your parents leave you EMOTIONALLY NEGLECTED
I always thought that fairies got assigned to kids who were lonely or neglected, like Timmy. Then it makes sense that Chester doesn’t have fairies because he has a good relationship with his dad, and he gets fairies when he loses his dad. I always loved how Timmy’s relationship with Cosmo and Wanda is more important to him than anything he could wish for, beginning in the first episode where he’s not even upset that he can’t make wishes as an adult as long as Cosmo and Wanda can still stay with him. they try to teach him lessons the way that parents would, but I don’t believe it’s some sort of secret conspiracy. They just genuinely love Timmy and want to fill that void from his real parents being neglectful
I always wondered about this. Why take away their memories and everything wish they ever made? Then what is the point of having fairies in the first place! As a kid it always bothered me.
Really good video, put thoughts I've had before into words very well, I often watch these videos purely for the sensationalism and how they have to just murder suspension of disbelief in order to justify their existence, but do find it like, just odd, how many people seem to actually believe them in the comments sections. A lot of the times with worlds like this, having them pertain to reality makes them fall apart, but its the type of thing not meant to be picked at because that's not the point of the show mostly. Stellar video though, nice work!
It isn't odd. People in the comments just watched the video. And even a very basic video should be competently able to put forward an idea and show some apparent evidence. Yes, the evidence might actually be cherry picked, ignore contradictions, etc. But when you watch a video, people often don't recall those things, but just accept what the video gives as being in good faith.
I find theories like those good for writting fanfiction, when one writes fanfiction, you might end up exploring more one part that was unexplored, you may need a watsonian reason to continue writting and can't ignore it like the original did because of the situation you wrote. These theories can work as an alternative to cannon where there is no real cannon or the cannon is contradicting itself too much, fanon if you must call it a name.
I've always been unsure about the fact the godkids loose their memories and experinces. Um well Fan theories are fun to think about it, yes the 'dark' ones can be insane but there's nothing wrong with fan theories much like fanfiction, trying to expand on what we know in a creative way is fun🤷♀ 7.6.24
i mean you have a point but not every fan theory is like that. Also not every child who watched the show was Americain XD so the whole 'relating to Timmy' aspect doesn't work for EVERYONE😅
Nice vid. While i do agree with your point about themes being more important and using critical thinking. Some years back i did enjoy binging those theory videos. The darker nature of kids cartoons was interesting clickbait lol and it was fascinating to imagine if their secret messages were true. I find these days people only cherry pick were to try to use criticism. Eg anything female led vs john wick. But even then its just parroting hate click youtubers. So i still do appreciate these cartoon videos 😅 unless anyone actually thinks they are real and not just a theory. (Also i dont see a problem with watchmojo frederator making these videos. If they are simply using the theories most people like)
Great video totally agree people take things way to seriously just enjoy it or leave it alone. I like it when stories have a deeper meaning bit I also like something a little more simple not everything needs a big twist or moral lesson that being said I still kinda want that theory you made about fairys being given to kids to teach them to Appreciate there lives and grow as a person to be real you made some good agreements for it nice job making a solid theory while also explaining how being to focused on theories can be annoying that's some MatPat level writing and thinking

kcuf sa eurt
Well…Timmy did wish for Vicky to be nice once. That didn’t actually go very well. XD

Yeah that bothered me too

@@FFKonoko Perhaps "odd" wasn't the right word lol, but yeah, fair.
I kinda thought teaching kids to be greatful for what they have was the whole point of the show lol. Didnt think this was a secret or anything.

Headcanons are just a more self-aware variant that doesn't involve a conspiracy board
the one that annoys me is when people try to replace cartoon logic with real logic.
Damn, I'm early. Literally just discovered your channel 15 minutes ago
Same!

Great video, just subscribed to your channel!
I like how this video is an actual fan theory and then the next half is just saying that that wasn’t true so what was the point of the video lol?
