OK, I love this review. You talked about everything good about the first season and weren’t afraid to criticize everything you didn’t like about the first season, which I commend you for. However, there’s one mistake: I need to point out what you made. You said he never took responsibility for his actions in the Love Potion episode. I completely disagree with you. He did take responsibility for his actions. I’m not saying that just because I’m biased with my being a Morty fan; while I’m a big fan of his character, I believe you’re right about criticizing him in this episode. Though I think this episode is a deconstruction of a love potion, most people don’t believe it’s messed up until the implications of a love potion are brought up, like Morty in this episode. Anyway, I think you were wrong because when Morty called out Rick for causing this apocalypse, Rick ripped into Morty for having him make the love potion and called it a roofie. Morty was shocked and horrified by Rick’s words, and as I pointed out, he took responsibility for his actions; he stated that he caused this mess and he was going to take responsibility, and all he wanted was for Rick to take responsibility because as Morty pointed out, he chose to make the potion anyway, even though he knew it was a roofie, mixed up a bunch of nonsense and made a serum that transformed the humans race into monsters. Morty took responsibility for his actions in this episode, and all he wanted was for Rick to take responsibility for his actions as well and for him to fix the problem the two of them caused, which Rick refused to do both and just ran away to another dimension where a counterpart of his dig fix the problem. I just wanted to point that out, and I say again, great review. I am happy to have watched it, and I can’t wait to see your reviews on the show's future seasons.
First off thank you for the kind comment!! I really appreciate it! Secondly I agree with you mostly. He did take reposiblity and I was wrong saying he did it. You were right about criticizing Morty, and to his credit, I believe that when Rick called it Roofie, Morty realized the implications of what he did and was horrified. I loved rick and morty from the get-go. I generally hate fanbases. I like Nirvana, in school never met a "nirvana fan" who didn't make me cringe. The thing about Justin Roiland is, man, stop being a creep and you could keep making art.

So the thing about interdimensional customs is that it is improtant to remeber that they are not in their own dimension when they go through interdimensional customs I think they did figure out interdimensional portals in some universes and not in others but because they galactic government is so shortsighted they don't even think to share that tech with themselves across the multiverse.... I always wondered if this shows downfall was that it started with such a high-note of seasons and it was just so hard to write for. Not sure if this is comparable. But I always felt it was the same thing with "Invader ZIM". The first episodes were so genius. But the right balance was just so hard to write for. Even the not finished episodes were kind of underwhelming. But the first episodes were also silly but in a "lighting in a bottle" kind of way :/ If you read out loud both premises of R&M and Invader ZIM you would not guess which episodes were dissapointing.
what i've never understood about the first episode was rick telling morty he went into a "futuristic" society to get serum the cures broken legs, when later on in the series its referenced multiple times that rick doesnt do time travel? was this society just so smart it created it? or was this a flaw in the writing?

I just wanted to point that out, and I say again, great review. I am happy to have watched it, and I can’t wait to see your reviews on the show's future seasons.
First off thank you for the kind comment!! I really appreciate it! Secondly I agree with you mostly. He did take reposiblity and I was wrong saying he did it. I should have really focused on how much of a creep move it is. He did know that it would make Jessica fall in love with him and he didn't care which is still really messed up. But ya you're right
@@workinprogress1987 I remember in a fantasy series how love potions were treated as, I wouldn’t say right, but not a big deal. I liked that the implications were not ignored in that episode. I agree that love potions are messed up, and I’m glad that Rick, of all people, brought up the implications. You were right about criticizing Morty, and to his credit, I believe that when Rick called it Roofie, Morty realized the implications of what he did and was horrified. But yeah, it was a creepy thing to do, even if most people ignore or don’t realize the implications. Again, I love watching the video.
I’m looking forward to the season two video when it comes out.
Thank you very much! Hopefully it'll come out soon! Still depends if this video does well or not
It clearly did something right since we're going into season 8
Also season 1 has a lot of the most memorable moments. Mr meseeeks might be the most popular.
I agree except pickle rick is probably the most popular thing from the series
Ricksy business is #1
I respect your opinion
I love every single episode of this season.
Episode 1 is the weakest, but it's still really good.
It was always good
Time for season 2…
Please do one for every season I’d love to see where exactly it all dropped off. The first season was something else it was before it was super popular and mainstream
I've already done one on the second the third is a work in progress
I need to stop doing shots when tell people told me not to
Oh No!!
Knock season 7 all you want, but the reveal of how Evil Rick actually wanted to die the entire time due to being controlled by Evil Morty was pretty damn cool to experience
It was
Something RICK-ED. Like wicked. Goated episode name btw 😤
Man thank you for correcting me, there definitely wasn't 5 other people who did
@ I’m yanking your chain dawg I’m literally enjoying your video right now 😭
Sorry about that
Isn’t the whole premise of episode 2 a pop culture parody of inception?
Ya it is, and they do bring up that it's inception, but they do it to make a joke about how it made no sense. They also don't defense stuff a lot. I really should have worded my argument better. I guess that's what happens when you take a 6 month break while making a video
It was good but it flanderized itself like other shows
The episodes that had a sci-fi hook to them were pretty good. The episodes with a character hook were much weaker.
3:37 youre wrong they chase rick for portal gun but in this episodes portal is huge and it seems immovable
Shrinking into someones body is an old movie reference.
The characters look the same in stills, but when they move, why do they look so different? Is it a framerate thing?
It's insane how different the animation gets
@@workinprogress1987 i found out season 1 is 24fps, while season 7 is 60fps. Idk when the change happened tho
That makes sense
I loved rick and morty from the get-go. I generally hate fanbases. I like Nirvana, in school never met a "nirvana fan" who didn't make me cringe.
The thing about Justin Roiland is, man, stop being a creep and you could keep making art.
Exactly there's no reason to be a creep. It's not that hard
U like John Oliver? U have to be the first person to ever say those words in that order
2:19 doesn't Rick reference 'Back to the Future?' After Morty breaks his legs in the clip you just used, Rick says smt about how broken leg serum is sold in every corner drugstore
I have no idea I haven't watched back to the future in awhile
The something rick this way comes episode is an example of the A plot being good but the B plot being terrible.
So the thing about interdimensional customs is that it is improtant to remeber that they are not in their own dimension when they go through interdimensional customs
I think they did figure out interdimensional portals in some universes and not in others but because they galactic government is so shortsighted they don't even think to share that tech with themselves across the multiverse....
Basically it's not a retcon- it's just not their Galactic Federation
Actually admitting in public that you love John Oliver is crazy.
Why someone explain this
John Oliver is awesome
@@workinprogress1987 He had some truly excellent investigative journalism pieces in the first season or two of his show. Nowadays he's producing mostly disingenuous, opinionated hit pieces and shilling for the Democrat Party and mainstream media. He realized TH-cam clips were more profitable than the show, so he carter's to the social media-obsessed radical leftist crowd. It's disappointing, because as I said he was pretty dammed good to begin with.
For context, I am, and have been for my entire adult life, a registered independent.
@@mickeyconnor830How is YOUR voter registration "context" for explaining his show or opinions?...the wording of that was weird. People could probably guess you didn't align necessarily with Democrats. Also, John Oliver has always said that he's not a journalist or news program--he's a topical comedian who also likes to keep people informed. Yeah, it's great when it's balanced but he's always given his opinion and he's allowed to have one.
@@Amanda-kd1zr Yes, I imagine it's clear that I'm not associated with the Democrat party. But in today's cultural climate, I find that it seems to help keep the crazies on both fringes at bay if I dissociate publicly from both, whenever I happen to be criticizing one or the other.
0:04 brooooo 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Season 4 actually tones down Rick's power as far as I remember
I remember season 4 the one intensivfying it. I guess I need to rewatch it
@workinprogress1987 naw, that's season 3.
The first episode of season 4 is literally about how rick could never die because he can just get another body from another deminsion
@@workinprogress1987 the first episode of season 4 has Rick being defenseless and getting his ass beat over and over, which is a recurring theme in the season (again, I could be wrong, I haven't watched it in a year)
But the thing is he is immortal. There's no tension because he can't die and I really don't like that
I think it was fine for what it was. Parodying sci-fi stories in an a and b plot story scheme.
Raising gazorpazorp is a direct parody of Zardoz
Okay can we all step the hell back and remember that this rick and morty fandom thing was like… at LEAST 6 years ago? Bringing up practically ancient clips by internet times just makes a whole fandom that is LONG past those days just look… bad
I’m a huge fan of some of Season 7’s episodes and I feel like acting like the fandom is still “szechuan sauce” and all that is just giving it a bad name and alienating people who might be genuinely interested.
Don't be lazy due Season 2 I subscribed
I won't, I'm starting work on it tomorrow, don't worry
"Our" Morty is NOT Morty C-137! He refers to himself as that once or twice but he is not as C-137 is the dimension where "our" Rick loses his wife, therefore never having children, therefore Morty never exists in that dimension.
The c-137 Rick's flashback of losing his daughter in s3e1 was fabricated to convince the bug agent, that the portal gun code is real.
@ keep watching the show
idk the twist that rick knew all along isnt that fun, i dont like when he knows everything and always wins
Do more Rick and Morty
So many classics, every ep from s1-2 is streets ahead of s3 onwards. The M.NightSham aliens episode is def top 3 for me
Scott the Woz on Family Guy? 👀
what i've never understood about the first episode was rick telling morty he went into a "futuristic" society to get serum the cures broken legs, when later on in the series its referenced multiple times that rick doesnt do time travel? was this society just so smart it created it? or was this a flaw in the writing?
I think it just meant this deminsion was way ahead of theirs so they could create the serum
Wait im lost who is Justin Roland and what did he do? Can somebody fill me in please?😅
Yes it is really good and fan base is the best
Youre supposed to pronunce Ricked like Wicked
