Dude I really appreciate your explanations. You’re the 5th person I’ve watched because the other 4 left out details on their commands. Your tutorials are by far the most comprehensive I’ve come across. I sincerely thank you for the knowledge.🙏
Thanks, Ari! I'm now revising this whole series per the updated UI. You can find the first few lessons (and eventually all of them), here: bit.ly/30daysUpdated
This has been an awesome set of videos so far. Love it. The only difficulty is that my version of Fusion 360's interface is so much different that what was used in the video. I have been able to muddle my way through successfully. To change the appearance to glass-bronze was not available for me on the right click in the canvas. ELSE... spot on videos. He is clear and concise. Easy to understand. Thank you!!
I had the same issue just now, I found that I was able to complete this command by a few ways as this was a feature I had never played with. You can enable the Appearances menu with the keyboard shortcut (A), additionally you can right click the bottle in the browser and select Appearances, as well as find it under the Modify menu. Other than this one thing I had to look around for, this has been an informative series thus far.
Just completed it and never used the letter D as not there as an option. Anyway it was fantastic. Once again Daniel top marks. The way you explain things is just perfect. So clear and precise. Im already feeling so confident in this program. 10/10
THANK YOU FOR REVISING THIS. I am brand to new to Fusion and was really struggling with a lot of the steps you performed on the previous video, it was ran through very quickly and steps made the were not explained. Appreciate you listening to your followers and re-doing this tutorial, this one is much more easy to follow for me. You're the man, thank you!
Just completed Day 2, The changes in the UI are useful in a way, makes you search out and try and make it work! It's tempting to go back and use the old UI, but i'm forcing myself to keep going with the new one. Thanks for your tutorials 👍
I teach jr/sr high school shop. My Jr high students and I are learning Fusion 360 together using your 30 day series. I am on a desktop, but students are on Chromebooks. The steps for getting the "root" beer bottle onto the Canvas was a bit different, but we figured it out. We 3D print and have an AVID Pro CNC router. We also use VCarve Pro. Thanks for the great tutorials!
Despite the different toolbars, commands being in a different place, etc., I could still do this exercise in the newer version of Fusion. Using points for splines is an excellent idea (I'm coming from a 2D graphic design background). He goes a little fast for me, but I'm old. ;-) Loving this whole series so far and so grateful that it exists!
Just finished day 2. I really think I would be lost without this tutorial. Have to figure out where things are in the new interface every now and then, but so far it is working. Thank you so much for making this series.
Hi, I am a french guy not fluent in english but let me tell you that your tutorials are the best I have watched for weeks. Congratulations for you work and you pedagogy.
I'm a complete beginner with no prior exposure to the design/engineering world so It took me several tries but I made it through. I downloaded the personal use version on 1/6/21 and I guess the latest version UI is quite different from what you used when making the video. So I spent a lot of time searching to find things or looking for equivalent steps. Also when I adjusted the bottle top to 9mm it put the bottle off center so the final hole cut procedure was off. I went back and removed the 9mm and left it at original dimension and that fixed it and I was able to finish the exercise.
Thanks, Bombastus. I'm happy to hear the revised version was an improvement. As always, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on my tutorials. Cheers, Kevin :)
Unbelievably powerful program and very well explained. I learned a lot in 30 minutes. I can't wait to see the next lesson. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
Whew made it. As I'm using the newest F360 and toolbar has changed, I learned from Lars Christensen that if you go to Preferences->General, check Use Old Toolbar and that makes it easier to follow your tutorial. Also, I kept trying to get the extrude+cut on the top of the bottle to work but couldn't so I really had to pay attention to your instructions and the I believe that the difference was the horizontal constraint may be what made it work...finally. Well...on to Day 3 :-) And thanks for these videos.
Hi, Ken. I just released the tutorial today that covers all these new critical changes. You can watch that video here - th-cam.com/video/tuZzHcmFtg4/w-d-xo.html That video should help bridge the gap between the NEW UI and the OLD UI, which will be very helpful as you work through the series. Please don't hesitate to comment questions on the tutorials as you work through the remainder of the series. Cheers, Kevin :)
Thank you for you lessons, I thought I was pretty good at figuring everything out coming from Solidworks and Onshape, but found that it isn't that easy. The concepts are very different and you're making this a breeze for me to get used to. Thanks again!!! :-)
Nice,us students do appreciate a little slower approach as we are struggling with following along such a complex program. I do appreciate how through these lessons are. Thank you
Hi, Thanks for your awesome tutorials. I am learning Fusion 360 only with your tutorials. I personally thought that learning 3D modelling is quite difficult and impossible to me. I started your 30 day tutorial yesterday and I learned a lot. Your simplified method helps.
Some of these videos are more than 2 years old, but they are exactly what I've been needing to learn Fusion 360. I've never been able to understand any other tutorials, but yours is working. 3 days in (out of order) but here's to 27 more!
Just finished day 2, one note: right clicking on the canvas didn't gave me the appearance option but had to use the modify dropdown menu to select it. But another excellent episode.
Made it all the way to the finish line! Good thing I can always 'rewind' and look at certain parts again whenever something didn't work like your did. The days of sitting in a classroom and asking the tutor to repeat something are coming to an end, haha! This is brilliant stuff, Kevin. I've got quite a bit of experience using 3ds Max. However, this seems to be a complete different game with measurements being way more crucial for these product designs. I'll be going through this entire playlist and then some! Thanks again!
Hi, Kaj. Glad to see you're making progress. You are certainly correct, Fusion 360s parametric nature is a much different approach than 3Ds Max. However, that would be valuable to be skilled in both. Keep at it! Cheers, Kevin :)
Thanks, Anders. Most all of the online courses I've previewed do not teach F360 best practices... and often the instructors do not take the time to practice teaching. Anyway, don't hesitate to reach out if you run into any roadblocks.
Excellent tutorials, great explanations. I found you after going through the Fusion360 Tutorials, which I now realize you taught some of! Nice work buddy, you're rad. I added this to my model by going back to the original sketch and using the spline tool there to modify the shape a bit. Thanks for all these videos. They are super helpful as I learn Fusion!

Very helpful videos. I am just getting started, and there are many stops and starts as the interface is slightly different, but these are so helpful. Thank you for posting them.
You are a life saver I was directed to your videos and tutorials and I can't thank you enough for making them and explaining them in an easy format thank you!!!!
Finished. Had some issues so i started over and it went perfect. Printing this out now on my Ender 3 with sharpie colorizer and 3 brown sharpies in vase mode.
Did the bottle. That's two in one day. Getting a lot better at navigating through the program. It's to the point when I did have little issues I was still able to complete the model. For instance, right click canvas to bring up appearance. Wasn't working for me. But I did find it quickly in the drop down Modify box.
Awesome tutorial! I'm also very happy about the community chiming in when the UI changed. IE: The Appearance command living in the "Modify" section. I was stumped until someone mentioned it in a comment because it wasn't available in the right-click menu. Looking forward to more tutorias!
@@ProductDesignOnline please bring in some advance tutorials like car engine and complex mechenical designs if you could... That would be really helpful.
Thanks for the Tutorials! I learned Pro Engineer 4.0 in school (a long time ago now) and most things transfer over but there are some new features and details with the newer software. Its nice to be able to go over the basics again and make sure I'm not missing anything. I am going to go through the entire 30 day program hopefully.
These are Awesome training vids... and your time stamps are perfect for when I stop listening because Im trying to find what you are talking about (a lot of things are not where you say to find then and my tool bar is sub-sectioned white working in a split screen), or just complete the steps. You are just fast enough I dont feel like Im sitting around when trying to re-listen to a specific value you gave and your just paced enough I can clearly follow when I should be changing steps.. more then that... I actually Understand Most of whats being taught!! Im not just copying but actually learning about these things... like why you drew a separate line on the top instead of just connecting the Spline.. that was a mistake that was easier fixed by starting over.. may be simple fix to break the line and add the flat top.. but it was so fast to redo after following along with you the first time!! this is awesome! Ill have to donate once I manage to find work I can safely do again... this year has been hard.
Thanks, Marcio. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed this one. Please don't hesitate to comment on any of my videos should you have any questions. Cheers, Kevin :)
Kev two things that would make this helpful for people as I was fumbling around till I got it. First remind people if they don't save the file then they are unable to calibrate the image to add the points to the boundary. Second when you are adding the dimension of 9mm to the top and adding the constraint to make sure the line from the center of the bottle to the other splice point is only selected. Because that is where you can constrain the line to horizontal/vertical axis. Hope this helps others.
Thanks for sharing this, Shant. I will take this into consideration as I record future tutorials. Please don't hesitate to comment on any of my videos should you have any questions. Cheers, Kevin :)
@@ProductDesignOnlineyou got it brotha. Working through your tutorials so i'm sure i'll have questions. Thanks for taking the time to share these videos. They are helpful in getting my feet wet.
That was very clear. No idea what the old version was like. I liked the small teaching parts where the workflow was probably not optimal, to include something that can be demonstrated on the side.
Thanks, hoggif! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this tutorial. The first version had a much faster pace and wasn't quite as thorough with some of the fine details. Don't ever hesitate to comment questions on any of my tutorials. Cheers, Kevin :)
Hi Kevin. Working my way through your tutorials. I like the pace and the fact that you tell us which keys you are pressing. I started with some DesignSpark tutorials a few weeks back but got frustrated looking at things magically happen on the screen. So I switched to Fusion 360. Keep up the good work and hopefully the user interface does not change too much in version to come so the content stays relevant.
Thanks again for another great lesson, I’ve found it helpful to take notes and to try and make these objects again after your instruction. The updated video makes it clear what I’m doing, and with only a few discrepancies in UI, learning your techniques is easy.
ty so much for this content. I've already went through several different tutorial series from different people. I am learning so much about Fusion 360. What did we ever do before youtube? Greetings from Indiana, USA
Hi, Gary. Glad to hear you're enjoying the series. Here's the playlist with all of the most recent videos of the series - bit.ly/learn-fusion360 Please don't hesitate to comment questions on the tutorials as you work through the remainder of the series. Cheers, Kevin :)
This was very useful. I feel that some discussion of using the mouse and it's possible moves to manipulate the model in the first of the series video might have been useful. Thank you!
I really love this so far. The whole interface is already changed so much since you revised this. I have to keep looking for things to do differently... like "Appearance" wasn't there with the right click. No problem though.. Once you know what you are looking for you will find it soon enough anyway and learn even better. Top presentation and super good build up .
Another very informative video! Like others, I find that the (seemingly) constant changes to the software make keeping up a little challenging, but very good instruction!
Day 2, I have a glass bottle! As others have said, with the new release, some of the steps require a bit of searching, but your excellent tutorial on the updated interface has really helped, and I’m able to rummage around to find the necessary step. I made one mistake of completing the spline to the top of the centre line, and had to work out how to break the line - through the undo menu, and then add in the missing line at the top of the bottle. One thing I noticed, when dimensioning the top line on the bottle, it moved the centre line rather than the right-most point on the spline, but I managed to stop it moving by anchoring the centre line... not sure if that was right, but it seemed to work! Excellent tutorial. You really have a gift for this stuff.
Great video. The one place I got stuck was on creating a hole in the top of the beer bottle. I wasn't given the option to select the top of the beer bottle for drawing the circle for some reason. The only place I could draw was on the axes.
I had to redo this as well. If you trace the top of the bottle too accurately, it will have a rounded top surface that can not be extruded. Make the top of the bottle as flat as possible so you can extrude your hole. That just sounds wrong...
@@Angrygreek00 @Chris Natale, top of my bottle was flat as a pancake. Still can't hollow it out from that face. EDIT: scratch that, adjusted the shell width to be thinner and it worked.
Finally got it done correctly. Took a long time to complete because my version is slightly different from the video. I will have to do this lesson a few more times to get the hang of it.
I would recommend watching my tutorial that covers the new UI updates. I discuss the critical changes in terminology, placement, and iconography, that should help bridge the gap between the old UI and the new one. You can watch that here - th-cam.com/video/tuZzHcmFtg4/w-d-xo.html Cheers, Kevin :)
Thanks, G Smith. I'm glad you're enjoying the series. Please don't hesitate to comment questions on the tutorials as you work through the remainder of the series. Cheers, Kevin :)
Thank you so much for your help! Just a suggestion: please explain to us better how to more accurately place spline points when tracing as the lines and the shape starts to go everywhere!
Seems like the appearence menu has moved in under the render tab, took some time before I could find it. Great tutorial, loved the create point feature, worked like a charm, and also the calibrate canvas hint, awesome!
Hi, I've just started this series and just want to let you know that I'm truly enjoying and learning from it! You deserve way more views than you have. By the way I"m curious about where to go after finishing this series. Is there some sorts of "intermediate" courses you can recommend? Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Hi, Benjamin. I'm currently releasing more intermediate level tutorials (but don't have an intermediate series like this 30 days series). Finished. Had some issues so i started over and it went perfect. Printing this out now on my Ender 3 with sharpie colorizer and 3 brown sharpies in vase mode.
JUST finished day #2! Loving this series, hope i'm much improved by day 30! :0)
Great work! Keep going :)
awesome tutorial.. loved learning how to use the spline tool
Did the bottle. That's two in one day. Getting a lot better at navigating through the program. It's to the point when I did have little issues I was still able to complete the model. For instance, right click canvas to bring up appearance. Wasn't working for me. But I did find it quickly in the drop down Modify box.
Great lessons, Kevin. I'm learning a lot very quickly! I'm going to cheat, however. I'm going to try to reduce 30 days to about 2!
Awesome tutorial! I'm also very happy about the community chiming in when the UI changed. IE: The Appearance command living in the "Modify" section. I was stumped until someone mentioned it in a comment because it wasn't available in the right-click menu. Looking forward to more tutorias!
I have created bottle by following this tutorial till the end..thank you very much for your videos...appreciated.
Great job, Sameer. You're making great progress. Keep going... :)
@@ProductDesignOnline please bring in some advance tutorials like car engine and complex mechenical designs if you could... That would be really helpful.
I finished it! The shell command didn't handle the neck of the bottle correctly, but the cut extrude command fixed it! Thank you! Day 2 complete :)
Thank you so much. It makes me very inspired and excited to learn more when I make full products while learning the features as well. :)
Revised version is much easier to understand. Congrats on the project of teaching us Fusion 360 so well explained!
@@bigshantolifting You're welcome! I'm always happy to help. Keep at it! Cheers, Kevin :)
Thanks! I'm hoping to (eventually) revise the entire series... once I get done with some current coursework that I'm working on. Stay healthy. Cheers!
Here's the playlist with all of the most recent videos of the series - bit.ly/learn-fusion360
Please don't hesitate to comment questions on the tutorials as you work through the remainder of the series. Cheers, Kevin :)
This was very useful. I feel that some discussion of using the mouse and it's possible moves to manipulate the model in the first of the series video might have been useful. Thank you!
Excellent! FYI, if you're on version 2.0, I found "Appearance" by right clicking on the top most item in the "Browser", or by pressing "A"
Kevin you are an awesome teacher!
Best professor ever
This is awesome simple to follow and have taken some frustration out of learning F 360 thank you dude.
I really love this so far. The whole interface is already changed so much since you revised this. I have to keep looking for things to do differently... like "Appearance" wasn't there with the right click. No problem though.. Once you know what you are looking for you will find it soon enough anyway and learn even better. Top presentation and super good build up .
Just to add my bit. In the 2020 version; I found appearance in 'Render'
i made it with your help, Thank you so much. Let take education to the highest level
As everyone else has commented, the UI has had some minor changes but it's still possible to follow each step. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial, just like your others that I've viewed so far. Thanks for the clear, concise steps to follow.
Just finished Day 1 and 2 and you are Awesome! 🤘 You have a great way of explaining things and I look forward to completing the 30 days!!!
Happy learning 😎
Thank you! this is teaching me so much. Things are easy when you have a great instructor.
Thanks, Lee! Glad to hear you're making progress. Keep at it and don't hesitate to comment if you have questions :)
Great video! Please continue to do more of these.
You can watch that here - th-cam.com/video/tuZzHcmFtg4/w-d-xo.html
Cheers, Kevin :)
if there were more people like you, the earth would be a better place
thx. btw
Thanks, Leo!
It is so good thanks for putting efforts and making it a success.
Thanks for the video, very helpful and well explained. Off to make so soft
Besides giving you a thumbs up above, I'd like to give you another thumbs up here for appreciating your efforts! Thanks man
Thanks, Vincent! I appreciate your support and kind words :)
Excellent video and series. Exactly my pace of learning. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Great point. Thanks, Farah :)
Finished. Thanks for the video!
fantastic lesson as always!!!
Very much enjoying these tuts. Extremely well done and informative.
Nice tutorial. Very helpful. Thank you very much.
N00B learning from scratch. This is nice, thank you
Seems like the appearence menu has moved in under the render tab, took some time before I could find it. Great tutorial, loved the create point feature, worked like a charm, and also the calibrate canvas hint, awesome!
started watching your videos and learning a lot, i already have some experience but you have nice tips and tricks .... just subscribed
this is a wonderful video
totally gonna subscribe
Thank you Kevin! Your tutorials are really helpful and clear! They help me a lot!
Thank You Brother ,I am beginner and you are helping lot to learn fusion 360
Hi, I've just started this series and just want to let you know that I'm truly enjoying and learning from it! You deserve way more views than you have.
By the way I"m curious about where to go after finishing this series. Is there some sorts of "intermediate" courses you can recommend? Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Hi, Benjamin. I'm currently releasing more intermediate level tutorials (but don't have an intermediate series like this 30 days series). I would recommend checking out some of my playlists to see some intermediate tutorials based on types of modeling (surfacing, sculpting, solid, etc).
1. Go here - th-cam.com/users/productdesignonline
2. Click the 3rd tab, "playlists".
Cheers, Kevin :)
Product Design Online alright! Will check them out if I finish this series
Fantastic tutorials, engaging and very easy to understand. Great job, well done! :)
Awesome vid!!! such a big help...sure do appreciate your time and dedication!!!
Sir, I kept doing very well but unfortunately I cant get it 18.33. My bottle center doesnt change to top of bottle. You say 'c' but when I click c on my keyboard, I can choose only the center of bottle. Can u help me to solve this problem :(
Fantastic series. Very easy to follow. Looking forward to the next few lessons!
THANKS BUDDY FOR THE DETAILED EXPLANATION.
