I loved this video because it reminded me of being young and having a cool British sports car. It took me back to the early 70s when I got my first car, a 1966 MGB convertible. I now live vicariously through you guys.
The view over the bonnet brings back such memories! I had a white Mk.3 when I lived in London in the 90s and regularly took it out along the M4 to the Heathrow tunnel late at night - wonderful sound from the straight 6 in said tunnel. My mate used to join me in his GT6 Mk.2, so we'd be side by side in the tunnel - what a sound!!! Then back home via a cuppa at the Heston Services. I travelled all over the UK in that car. I later changed it for a Memento Mk.3 with a 2.5 litre engine in it (from a Triumph saloon). That made it into a real long legged touring car.
Two obviously mega rich geezers showing off!! Main thing is that the car itself, the classic Triumph Spitfire GT 6, remains a force to be reckoned with, even in today's world. A beautiful car. (Forget the Boy Racer presenters!) The GT6 was the star in this video!
Nothing like the sound of a triumph,,,,,my tr6 growls when switching gears at 4000. Almost sounds as it inhales as you depress the clutch pedal. So much fun,,,,lol
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
@Kane Dillon thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Learned to drive on a GT6 in 1986 under my father's tutelage. An extra challenge vis-a-vis regular drivers training (which I later took), due to the manual transmission! SO loud, even on surface streets, but on the highway--yikes. Listening to the radio above that noise probably caused some ear damage! So, although it looked good and holds a place in my heart, can't say I miss it from that standpoint alone. Another annoyance was that it broke down pretty frequently....
Thanks Adam for the great video and thanks Olly for keeping her looking good. I'm Stateside with a 72 RotoFlex GT6, a project always in the works. It's nice to see someone else who thinks this car should be driven and not babied.
Nice late model GT-6. Mine was a 1968 into which I put the 2.5 liter TR-6 engine, Rajay turbo, and T-50 transmission. I sold it years ago and wish I had kept it. It would out accelerate aPorsche 930 Turbo Carrera but was very hard on rear ends and broke piston ring lands several times. I'm glad to see Olly's running so well.
Olly, there are not many things in life that I regret. Somewhere around 1984 I sold my GT-6 hot rod. There are many times that I regret doing that. That car meant a lot to me now that I look back to my younger days. However, I still have my jacked up 4 wheel drive Camaro V-6 powered yellow 72 Triumph Spitfire on 33'' tires with the boat propeller under it....
If you guys didn’t drive on the wrong side of the road I’d live over there and I’d be a bloke. I’d eat fish ‘n’ chips and I’d drive a Jaguar if I could. If not I’d get a Sunbeam Tiger or a GT6 Triumph, I’d get a classy beautiful British girlfriend with a heart of gold and, since they wouldn’t let me have a gun I’d fly around in a Spitfire (the Supermarine/Vickers - not the Triumph) with cannons - you know, just in case. Ohhh 😮 nice MGB!
you brought back a lot of childhood memories back period if I have the car period I would be driving from Boston Massachusetts to Montreal through Vermont and the Grand Island
Had one. Bought a GT6+ for restoration. Found out they weren't built well. Basically had to refab the body due to rust. Luckily I was in the auto parts business so I had quite a lot of connections and did a lot of my own shop work. I got it back to "factory specs" however I painted the body hunter green. It came out of the factory a canary yellow. Broke even on the sale.
I want to know more about this GT6. What has been done to that engine? It sounds amazing!! I want to do that to my TR6. Is there a youtube channel or video that covers the work done to this GT6?
Please please tell me what your exhaust setup is? I've got 6-3-1 headers into dual exhaust and it's nowhere near as loud. Love the sound and love the video.
I love the vents on a mk2, will a mk2 bonnet fit on a mk3. Is there much difference between mk2 and mk3 in handling as I finally have enough money to buy one but can't decide.
Mk3 has the rotoflex rear - less sudden snap oversteer as the rear wheel tucks under, as that was a bit of a problem on the earlier cars, made worse by modern tyres not gradually breaking grip, but keeping huge traction until the rear suspension basically folds the wheel under and the tyre loses grip. These cars handle well enough, but they weren’t designed for huge grip, so you need to drive with that in mind or use less grippy tyres to keep that progressive break-away and “dancing down the road” feel, as opposed to “oh-shit-it’s-having-a-tank-slapper-and-now-I’m-in-a-ditch”. 😉
DDM_Historics Oh right, where is it parked then? The numerous videos I have seen in which Adam goes to your house I don't see it on the driveway. In storage for the winter?
Would it be a crime to remove the stock Triumph engine from a GT-6 (store safely to keep unmolested), and implant a built Jaguar 4.2L turbo inline-6 engine with 6-speed manual?
Re the title, I was really looking forward to this but ............... the opening 5 seconds showing YOU monging-off assured me I'd never get to the end, just way too painful, can't you stack shelves or something???
Consider this....a Triumph Gt-6 has only a 2 liter engine....so where are you feckless jerks generating all of this noise? Simple; it's acoustics....I see it every day; little "four bangers" ; zipping in and out of traffic, with a "megaphone" tail pipe....guess that makes them feel somehow better...but I want to hear the sound of a real engine.....such as a 427 Corvette....now that's power!
Who needs a stereo when you can listen to that, honestly that gt6 is absolutely stunning I'm totally in love with it
I loved this video because it reminded me of being young and having a cool British sports car. It took me back to the early 70s when I got my first car, a 1966 MGB convertible. I now live vicariously through you guys.
Nothing will ever sound as good as the snarl of a straight six (especially a Triumph 2 litre)...Makes me miss my GT6+'s (I've had 3).
I travelled all over the UK in that car. bloody fantastic!! a good old straight 6 is just as good as an old v8 IMO
@Jamie McPhilbin Yeah
@Jamie McPhilbin Oh right. Sorry lol
What an absolute dreamcar. So jealous on that inline 6 sound😱
Two obviously mega rich geezers showing off!! Main thing is that the car itself, the classic Triumph Spitfire GT 6, remains a force to be reckoned with, even in today's world. A beautiful car. (Forget the Boy Racer presenters!) The GT6 was the star in this video!
Obviously mega rich geezers? 😂

enjoyed that keep em coming love the tunnel sounds

@Jaxtyn Bridger Instablaster ;)
@Kane Dillon thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.

@Kane Dillon It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
@Jaxtyn Bridger glad I could help =)

If I have my way, the GT6 we are restoring will sound just like this! Beautiful car, cool channel. Subscribed!
ah cool, do you have an instagram page? if so, message me on there, id love to see it :)
Don't have instagram, but I have a few videos of it on my channel, and should have Ep4 up next Sunday. Feel free to check it out if you want! :-)
ill check them out now :)
Hey thanks man!
I have a Tr6, it sounds very similar to yours. I have a custom dual exhaust system, small mufflers love the sound!
I have a Triumph Vitesse Mk.2 Convertible, same engine, same sound, LOVE it.
Thanks Adam for the great video and thanks Olly for keeping her looking good. I'm Stateside with a 72 RotoFlex GT6, a project always in the works. It's nice to see someone else who thinks this car should be driven and not babied.
Great to see a 2CV in wild. A rare sight now.
beautiful car and sounds great ☺☺☺

Sounds great! I had trouble finding info in the video - what's the exhaust setup?

Lovely GT6

All in all what was the cost?
I want to know more about this GT6. What has been done to that engine? It sounds amazing!!
I want to do that to my TR6. Is there a youtube channel or video that covers the work done to this GT6?
Your TR6 has got a 2.5l version of that 2.0l engine they put in the GT6s. The sound is just because of the stainless steel sports exhaust.
lovely engine sound ;) Greetings
I fount a red one of these abandoned in a multi story car park today it was perfectly intact aside from a bit of vandalism and dust
hello fellow "young retro motorclub" member! haha (sticker on the rear glas 😂)
hello :P
Does the GT6 have a new engine or was it rebuilt? It's sounds so finely tuned!....and it sounds so good in the tunnel for sure!
Hi, excelent paint color!!! May I have the color code of this? Is't original royal blue? Thx Martin
Is there anything done to the car to make it louder?
'sports' exhaust. Fewer baffles. Easy to find
Boat tail Alfa Spider, in red.. 'Mrs Robinson, you're trying to seduce me' ;-)
I have a 1971 gt6 what kind of exhaust does he have on there
Please please tell me what your exhaust setup is? I've got 6-3-1 headers into dual exhaust and it's nowhere near as loud. Love the sound and love the video.
Manifold is standard into a stainless straight pipe (plus a resonator)

I’d love to buy that car!!
Bugatti World record edition. Love it!
Sounds so good! Is that a standard engine? I want to restomod one of these
yep standard :) just exhaust
I have a Tr6, it sounds very similar to yours. I have a custom dual exhaust system, small mufflers love the sound!
is that the v8 or straight 6?
S6
Use the tunnel from England to france
Nice ❤❤❤
The driver side window kept falling down on my MK2. Great sound, but not fast by todays standards.
Great Car..... Just Great Car :)
2:35 That hurt my soul
What is that grey station wagon
It's a Triumph Herald 13/60 Estate (the British term for Station Wagon).
11:33 A30 Blackwater?
Sounds like a Cayman Gt4...
turbo?
Is that the standard exhaust?
Im also interested to know. A Monza I suspect
what engine is in that gt6?
Skyline r33 straight six :)
Skyline r33 2.0ltr straight six to be precise :)
Primo Carnera lol, i just drive it and fix it :P
My dad owns a 1974 Triumph 2500 P.I.
Interesting spin--lovely car.
@ 5:15 what kind of wagon is that?!?!?! probably the sexiest wagon ive seeeeeeen...
badazzlemons The front looks like a Triumph Herald but I didn't know that they made estates.
Triumph Herald
Extra Bad ass, i must own one of these!
I thought the angry eyed ones are Vitesse's?
The Herald 13/60 had single large 'slant eye' headlamps. They were the last of the Heralds. I too would love a 13/60 Estate.
Well at least i know what my rear camera looks like now! :P
DDM_Historics Have you still got the Alfa? I haven't seen it since the "Hilarious Signs" video.
Scott Sherman Yep still got her, just haven't driven it much since then. Got a bit distracted with how quick and capable the golf is. :)
DDM_Historics Oh right, where is it parked then? The numerous videos I have seen in which Adam goes to your house I don't see it on the driveway. In storage for the winter?
Scott Sherman Top secret info right there! But yea storage elsewhere.
DDM_Historics Smart move, don't want it rusting out!
You need glass sealant no need for wipers
i have rain repellent in the garage, havent put it on yet...
Olly Barker well worth it am rain ☔️ follow me on Instagram or watch my video on it 😉lovely car by the way
Paul Dolden Details will do 👌
Olly Barker Don't tell Adam my Dad use to have a 1965 MG roadster British racing green 😉
shh
Is that a 2jz
No, its a Triumph Build 1998cc i6.
Real sports cars.
Be safe. Don't wack a pedestrian!
❤️🔥
Be carful driving them old cars this time of year, so much salt on the roads...
As long as we wash them underneath afterwards, they'll be fine. It's sad to see cars like these locked up for several months.
James Burch yes, ill be putting her up on the lift soon for a winter treat so all shall be okay :)
AdamC3046 Good good, keep up the videos lads!
Would it be a crime to remove the stock Triumph engine from a GT-6 (store safely to keep unmolested), and implant a built Jaguar 4.2L turbo inline-6 engine with 6-speed manual?
a) it wouldn't fit b) the diff and axles would last about 15 seconds, what would you do then?
The GT6 was already overpowered for the chassis, and the weight distribution would be terrible.
I first somehow read it "A Day with a loud Trump"
Sounds soooo nice. Looks to kill.
Perfect if you lost the commentary
Re the title, I was really looking forward to this but ............... the opening 5 seconds showing YOU monging-off assured me I'd never get to the end, just way too painful, can't you stack shelves or something???
Excuse me?
Mk 5 b
love these gay videos, but i do miss the girls!!!!!!..................keep em commin kid
Robin Whyatt okay..?

AdamC3046 Okay.....I feel better now...
GO TRIUMPH.......
