That hour 8 creeper trio was crazy. I got creeped on so many times while making my current base in BTA. And all I was doing was making a mountain road. It was so painful, especially since I was working with sand and gravel. I don't play enough minecraft to really make a definitive statement, but old minecraft creepers are so much more of a menace for some reason. I also have to say that seeing your builds is a great way to inspire me to build myself.
Personally what I think modern Minecraft really excels at is creative mode. In beta, the progression was "limited' enough that all you really concerned yourself with at the end of the day was breaking and placing blocks because it's just what you wanted to do. Playing creative mode in the latest version, stripping all progression out and just focusing on that pure essence of breaking and placing (without mods like WorldEdit) really makes me feel that vibe that I think people nowadays associate with older versions of the game.
Beta is pretty cool. Got a world in Beta 1.5 that I've been working in since Late August 2018. It's my crowning achievement in Minecraft I'd say. Didn't start playing MC until release 1.7.2. Been playing in Alpha 1.1.2 and after a month it feels like home. Thanks for the video to watch on breaks!
You're very good at this, your base is so cool. I have the flu right now and I don't feel well enough to play, but your video made me happy, almost as happy as if I was the one playing.

Its really mostly nostalgia. The only thing I can say about beta as someone who played it back then, the game was so bare bones that it motivated me to build more despite the limited tools.
@@dragonweirdocreap Ya that’s what I like the most. There’s no progression past a diamond pick so all there is left to do is build. I never played minecraft until 2013 so I didn’t play beta, but it’s till nostalgic somehow.
i dont think its nostalgi. i have 800+ days beta 1.7.3 which is my first ever beta world, and it has the most days i ever had (previously i had about 50-70 days a world on 1.16) and i started playing on 1.12. i tried other versions like 1.0, 1.12.2 modded, 1.18, but thay didnt work. sometimes i get burn out but it happens to everyone. and yeah the fact it is so simple hepls me to keep going
You had more fun with this than Better Than Adventure? I guess how Minecraft feels optimal really is quite subjective, I personally first tried vanilla beta due to Modern Minecraft feeling so hard to stay motivated in, and had more fun than with Modern, and then I tried Better Than Adventure and I've been having even more fun.
It is kinda weird, maybe it's because I really focused on building in this one while I didn't so much in BTA. BTA was still great tho, I might revisit it.
For some reason older versions of Minecraft inspired us to make more castles, and i think part of the nostalgia comes from the typical fortresses we used to make, and now people do other stuff which either is too complex, or too technical, like barely decorated...
@@Mihaz-c2n thank you, I use a launcher called multi-mc it has pretty much any version you could need, from modern to the alpha and some cool mods like bta
I tried playing BETA because i never had before.. but it wasn't working for me.. lack of tools and functions. I keep trying to go back to 1.14.. but people who visit my channel complain when i'm not playing the latest and greatest.
As someone who is currently playing a beta and modern version of the game, I do think it really comes down to personal preference. Maybe you like how the gam used to look, or the fewer features made it feels more complete and less overwhelming, but nothing really stops you from playing like before, besides maybe the terrain being different which could cause people to feel like the way they want to play and build is being impacted. Maybe its because I watched videos during the release 1.6-1.7 era, so I'm used to this mix of modern and old, hence why it feels a lot more subjective to me than simply saying "Beta was better." Because my goodness not being able to place slaps on the top sides of blocks alone is infuriating, alongside always upright stairs and such. Also ngl the old health system kin of sucks without stackable food. I actually like how BTA does it where it still just heals hearts, but at a slower rate so you don't have to worry about always eating, but also not instantly regenrating.
@@ToyFreddyGaming1987 Same - I've been playing in 1.21 recently with some resource packs that bring back the older aesthetic, and I've been really enjoying it.
beta 1.7.3 hates recording software, clicking the properties and resetting the focused media will make it work, but sometimes clicking both programs a ton works too (and I do mean a ton)
Do you think you might play the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft? Might take more effort with having to get a 360 if you don't already have one as well as a copy of the game itself, but to me it's the perfect balance between modern and beta Minecraft.
Beta is definitely a better game. Modern minecraft is a soulless game owned by a mega-corporation whereas 1.7.3 was being developed when the game was truly still an indie game and a passion project. Modern minecraft is also very bloated and full of useless features and mobs that add nothing to the game. Not to mention problems like microtransactions and always-on-telemetry. Yeah I'll pick beta any day over modern slop.
Beta is nice and nostalgic, but it isn't as fun nowadays IMO. I would rate the BTA mod about equivalent to the modern versions, although they're fun for different reasons and played for different purposes. In that regard, vanilla Beta isn't better than the newest versions, but it is undoubtedly a classic and still fun to play.
