You do know there are coaches that never played professionally but they are still able to talk about football strategy/coverage?
@@raulvillanueva4175 those coaches climbed the ranks. coaching middle school, high school, rec teams, up to d2 colleges and getting bounced around as assistant in d1. those are very rare and literally only under 100 total people who coaches at the NFL all time both head and assistant level who never touched a football competitively. lot of them have at least high school experience.
People outside of a profession can give valued criticism to people inside a profession.
Skip literally has covered sports since including Baseball , Football, Basketball, since the 60s. I’m willing to bet there are 100s if not 1000s that know the sport inside and out. Nick Saban was mediocre at best when playing football, yet, he would / could debate coverage.
Point being you don’t have to play or be amazing to know the sport.
