  • I've been taking my time and doing a lot of sanding and painting. I am really happy with the results. These trucks are turning out even better than I imagined.
    Files to print your own found here: www.myminifactory.com/object/...
    The design is fully modular. You can have as many or as few axles as you want and change the length between the transmission and the dive axles. The drive axles have a working differential, giving a much sharper turning radius. There is also a solid axle option if you plan to go off the pavement. There is a functioning lift axle with working suspension and passive steering.
    I plan to sell the files when all is complete. I am excited to see what trucks everyone can build. The options are endless. From a single axle in town truck to a multi drive axle heavy haul, or dump truck. There's so many possibilities with the ease of the modular design.

    My GOD that looks good!!!!! 👌🚛👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Too bad it costs SO MUCH to 3D Print something that big.

      Thanks. It’s really not that expensive. Even if you had to buy a 3D printer (ender 3 is a good option) the whole thing is more affordable than buying a tamiya kit, and you then have the ability to customize things and make new parts with the printer.

      I've got a Sovol SV03 Printer. I still don't even know how to turn it on!!! I'm almost 60, having to learn all this from SCRATCH.
      I bought it in January, thinking ALL I had to do was load a .stl file from Thingiverse.... and print stuff!
      Then several people proceeded to tell me that it's MUCH harder than that. That I have to learn things that sound like FOOD, that the Filament I use makes a tremendous difference.
      They like my choice! Like the heated tempered Glass Bed, the 2 color input, Silent Motherboard, dual Z Axis, dual Fans......
      Except for the Fans... I don't know what ANY of that means!! 😕 😲
      All I bought for Filament was PLA. 5 colors. Half the people said I'm good, half said I need PETG or TPU...
      I DON'T KNOW THE FREAKING DIFFERENCE!!
      I can't find any reliable information for novice DUMMIES. I don't know anyone with a 3D Printer, which of course is why I got it.
      Now I find your Videos, with several things that intrigued me!! (Well, don't have a use for a Snowmobile!), but I'm very into 1/14th Scale Semi Trucks. I get the feeling that you may design even more cool stuff!! 😁
      I'm lost though.
      For a Joke, I'm also building a Thai Dump Truck, parodying the little Kei sized, OVER DECORATED, underpowered things, that have trouble MOVING on soft but Dry Dirt!!! 😜😂😂🤣
      But I need stuff. 😫 Can't find an Isuzu Ranger, HINO or Mitsubishi Fuso Mini Cab... ANYWHERE in the First World. All over in Thailand, in my CHOICE of Scale! But they don't ship here.
      OH WOW! Sorry, I went on many tangents. I do that! Didn't mean to flood you...

      I'm not familiar with the Sovol, but most 3D printers work very similar. It takes a bit of learning, but I'm sure even an old dog can learn a new trick 😉 You'll be good with PLA, That's what I use 99% of the time. Myself and many others on my discord channel are happy to help as you learn it all.
      You're feeling I will be designing more 1/14th stuff is correct, I have a lot of fun plans.
      I hope I can be of help. If you happen to create a discord account and join us on there I am sure we can help get you going.

      @CarminesRCTipsandTricks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely looking forward to more!
      Currently in the process of moving.... but will probably get discord. I absolutely appreciate the help!!
      I am very into details, like Air Brake items, Engines (especially that slide over the electric motor), interior details...
      Trailer details! There's a lot going on under Semi Trailers that are never modeled.

    Does 1/14 tamiya parts fit like grille and lights on the day cab body ?

    • @BuildItBetter3D
      @BuildItBetter3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure, probably not. This was designed to be an accurate body of a kenworth so it’s not likely things like the grill will fit. With a little tweaking things like mirrors or lights should be useable. It is the same scale as the tamiya trucks, so accessories should be compatible with a little work.

    Awesome is that on a tamiya frame I subscribed to your channel I have a tamiya frame but no cab or bunk bought it with everything but a cab and bunk grand hauler frame

      Thanks. It’s on a 3D printed frame, but would fit a tamiya chassis with a little work to make some brackets.

    I would like to learn how to paint the Tamiya box trailers. So many videos about the Tamiya trucks but NO ONE AT ALL posts videos on how to customize/paint the trailers. Do you know of some industry reason why expert hobbyists seem to withhold trailer painting information?

    • @BuildItBetter3D
      @BuildItBetter3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use the exact same techniques to paint a trailer as I do a truck. Videos showing the process of painting can be applied to more than just the subject in the video. I can only guess as to why there aren’t videos showing painting a trailer, and my guess would be that it’s not as entertaining to watch as painting a truck.
      There’s really nothing different to painting a trailer. Prep the area well, mask what is needed, primer, paint, clear. Of course you may want to mask multiple times for different colors during the “paint” step and then clear them all at the end.
      My suggestion is watch some of the videos showing the steps and techniques and then apply that to your trailer.
      Or, if you want to send me a tamiya box trailer then I’ll paint it and make a video for you 😉

      Yes it should fit. You would need to make some bracket for mounting, but that should be pretty straightforward.

    Instead of bondo try Rondo. A mix of fibreglass resin and bondo and can paint it on with a brush. I have used this method for making concrete moulds. Otherwise great to see your progress.

    Nice job…. Can I ask, how long after the second colour is applied do you remove the masking tape?

    • @BuildItBetter3D
      @BuildItBetter3D  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I try to remove tape soon after the last coat. If you let the paint dry completely there is a chance that the paint will crack as you take the tape off. So I try to get the tape off as quick as I can, just be careful not to touch the fresh paint as you do it.

      I printed mine in PLA. If you plan to leave it in hot places such as a car then you’ll want something with more heat resistance.

      @@BuildItBetter3D thanks for responding, i live in Canada Lol.pla should be ok. I have experience in 3d printing but not at all in electronic parts, for example how to sync up the CR controller ,etc is there all the instructions about it? Thanks in advance

    • @BuildItBetter3D
      @BuildItBetter3D  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @gafenickel5869 my instructions don’t cover electronics. The truck uses very standard rc equipment though and most rc information should apply to it.
