This really shows how challenging it is to lay Bruce’s vocals onto his instrumental arrangements. His phrasings are so complex but he makes them sound effortless.

The song was one of many Springsteen tunes covered by Allan Clarke of the Hollies, both with the group and solo -- he had discovered Bruce's music in 1973 or so. Allan put his version out as a single from his 1976 album "We've Got Time". So, I put that single and this in my Hollies playlist, along with a bunch of other Bruce tunes and covers..

It doesn't sound like the official arrangement, more as an outtake. There are some differences after the first solo. Strings' arrangements are missing, while there's an electric guitar, or something else instead. Beautiful document! Thanks!
