From the spoken word to turned up to 11 thrash metal, this combination of words & music has never failed to take me where I wanted/needed to go... Forever grateful. The power of music is a beautifull thing.

To me this is like so many other Bruce and E Street songs they do live. You just never know what they might do or play but in the end its magic.

I love that the sax solo remained in tact throughout so many versions of the tune and what a solo it is, RIP Big Man.

that annoying sax ruined his music for me.
this would've been the greatest song of all time but he screwed it up with that saxophone.
      lame!

The first Bruce 8 Track I bought. I was hooked. Bruce is an angel of music and even the Good Lord tunes into Bruce.

Yep - he couldn't get what was in his head onto the recording media. He put his band through 6- months of shit because THEY COULDN'T understand that track goin in his head - what he WANTED. I think the final mix was pretty good though. This out-take (though interesting) was definitely not the one.

Actually this is the ORIGINAL version of the song.
It sounds different that what you know from your past because there are parts that are heard on this version that are not on the original version and there are parts on the original version that are not on this one.
If you look at the "Making of Born To Run" video and you listen to the cassette tape section where Bruce and the other guy are isolating certain sounds you'll understand.
In the COMPLETE version of this song there were about 25 different parts. On the RELEASED version there are only about 12.

    • @r5t6y12
      @r5t6y12 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

If you watch the whole movie you'll hear that they went through about 40 takes of this one song alone because Bruce didn't like most of them.
Eventually they tried so many different things that were layered onto the song that were later omitted from the released version.
But this is specific parts of the original version. It's just that this version has certain parts from the released version omitted here, and other parts that never made it to the released version.
      In essence this version is A,B,C,F, H, J, K, and L.
The released version is A,B,C,D,E,F, and M.

It's punchier but the added strings are too melodramatic. The mix of the strings in the album version is perfect. The organ is great!

  • @Rockstaralan

Wow! To me, this is even better than the final mix that made the finished album. Oh, just as sure as some you may start flying at me with bullshit elitist insults like "Wow, really? Better get your ears checked or something, because this version is NOT good at all and that's a fact", I'm gonna have to disagree with all the hate being dumped onto the choir part (which, by the way, was NOT entirely left out of the final mix, but merely buried and almost inaudible). From what my perfectly good ears can tell, the choir part just takes the whole thing to a higher, almost celestial level, which suggests the young couple at the heart of the song's subject matter, who were desperate to run away from the hell of their old lives, are that much closer to reaching the light at the end of a long, dark, damp tunnel to begin a new chapter. And not for nothing, it certainly adds more to what Bruce has often described as his cinematic intentions for the song, as envisioned and played out in his head before he even committed it to tape. Also, mad props for the organ part being more discernible as well. Now, let the trolls come out and start hating!

One of the worst sound recordings! But, who cares, it became a hit!
No, I feel the strings and chorus were later added, but never used. Found the multi-tracks, but still difficult to squeeze out decent stereo! Thanks!
