Jimi was my dear friend,who was a genuinely kind and thoughtful person. He loved his children fiercely and unconditionally. Family was very important to jimi. I said goodbye to him for the last time at the grave sight where generations of his ancestors and his beloved mother waited for him. It was a quiet place resting under ancient trees and green farmland. There was such a feeling of peace. It was a place of grace. It was where jimi belonged, with his family. gift. I every day of my life.

He lost a little of the dimension his voice had in his youth, but absolutely none of the talent or charm. As the years have gone by, the world has lost iconic artists well before their time. But I honestly can say I have never felt a deep, aching loss for ANY of them before. To be so talented and to have such an incredible, truly musical voice (they are definitely NOT the same thing!), he was still so absolutely beautiful, inside and out. His genuine humility, love for the music, and honest kindness can really be felt. The world not only lost a voice that has yet to be matched, but a celebrity that didn't act like one. Jimi, you were truly one of a kind.

They do not make singers like this anymore. The emotion and love of music he had just emits from him. He had an amazing voice and was very passionate W/ each song, performance. Also seemed to be a VERY nice man, regular "Joe". He was taken too soon. R.I.P. Jimi, hope to meet you on the other side 1 day to thank you for the outstanding, emotionally deep music. This is a true story. I had a difficult time in the mid 80's. I had an abusive mother and I was generally a very sad kid and when this song came out I was about 12. This song and other Survivor songs really caught my attention but I had no idea the real reason why yet. Coincidentally around this same time I had access to a basic synthesizer. The kind you get from a department store. Survivor's sound... lots of keys, distorted guitars and Jimi's voice... wow. I was just starting to learn to become a musician and they inspired me so much. The music was so lush and emotional and helped me to escape my sadness for brief moments, and now I was learning to do it too. When I finished high school I was aimless. I threw caution to the wind and moved to NYC and began to pursue music. That was in 1997. Fast forward 23 years, a lot of hard work and passion... Now here in 2020 I am the proud recipient of 19 Gold albums, 11 Platinum, 4 Multi-Platinum and one Diamond award... along with 9 Grammys. This music came into my life and changed it forever. If it weren't for that, I have no idea where I'd be. It helped me create a life and legacy as a record producer that I am proud of. I am eternally grateful. This video brought me back to that small town in 1984.

I think that the music of now, leaves a lot to debate, it's incredible to have grown up in the 80s, I didn't have that opportunity but I love the music of that time, I have a lot of Jimi's music in my playlist, I start, with his beginnings in survivor, and he finished with all his solo albums, and that's how I spend the day listening to him🎧🎶

I saw Survivor where Jimi Jamison and Dave Bickler shared the stage....shortly before Jimi's death....and the rivals appeared to be friends. Then....Jimi celebrated his 63rd birthday and a week later has a fatal stroke. Too young! No one but Jimi could have filled in for Dave and vice versa....BUT this is clearly Jimi's song. RIP Jimi.

He just finished a show down by his home in Nashville when he died alone at home on Sept.1, 2014. First report he died of a heart attack. Medical Examiner ruled death by a brain stroke caused by meth intoxication with severe cardiovascular disease. Narrowing of the arteries. Beautiful voice who took Survivor to the top after original lead singer Dave Bickler "Eye of the Tiger" left with vocal nodules. Jamison caught the MTV craze of the 80's with Survivor. They had 4 top singles during that time. RIP Jimi
It was from Adderall though, not an illegal drug he purchased in an alley somewhere. I knew him at the time. My friend scheduled his venues. It was prescribed and he had just started taking it again while on tour. True, it's an amphetamine, indistinguishable from meth on a tox screen, but a little context can be super important sometimes. They also didn't find elevated levels of the drug in his system, that's why it was ruled a cerebrovascular event secondary to an "incidental intoxication from amphetamine poisoning." Incidental has a very specific definition in medicine. I am a physician by trade. I am also good friends with his then fiance, who also independently confirmed what I just told you.. I know you didn't mean to trash talk him, but like I said, I knew him and I always try to set the record straight because you never know who reads these comments. You know, like his kids, maybe? It was just an unfortunate accident. A very unfortunate accident. Tragic. But you know, Jimi wasn't a young man anymore, and he had some other health problems going on at the time. I know that for a fact. Combine that with the way you live on the road in a band, being dehydrated, oftentimes exhausted, sleep deprived, not eating healthy, etc. and How that affects your heart rate and blood pressure... It happens more than you know. Not just with musicians and bands. It's a risk you take whenever you use a medicine like that when you're older. It's also a risk the health care provider has to be willing to take when prescribing it. He may not have gotten the appropriate checkup /workup / follow up when getting the medicine. Some careless healthcare provider of some sort could have nonchalantly prescribed it to him or something for all I know. It happens all the time. Anyways, I didn't mean to call you out personally, just wanted to provide some context. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Wow! It’s hard to believe this was just seven years ago. Sure do miss Jimi.
I saw Survivor where Jimi Jamison and Dave Bickler shared the stage....shortly before Jimi's death....and the rivals appeared to be friends. Then....Jimi celebrated his 63rd birthday and a week later has a fatal stroke. Too young! No one but Jimi could have filled in for Dave and vice versa....BUT this is clearly Jimi's song. RIP Jimi.

i went to a lot of survivor concerts Jimi was such an awesome singer very sad that he passed on but i feel like myself listening to him sing such a wonderful talented person he is. Listening to this song the search is over brings tears to my eyes. But he is in good peace now.

Although I prefer his older versions of this song, I’ll say Jimi’s voice is simply magical. I’ve listened to so many male singers over the years and his is one if not the best I’ve ever heard. Not his range but his own uniqueness and flavor, it’s simply beautiful

He just finished a show down by his home in Nashville when he died alone at home on Sept.1, 2014. First report he died of a heart attack. Medical Examiner ruled death by a brain stroke caused by meth intoxication with severe cardiovascular disease. Narrowing of the arteries. Beautiful voice who took Survivor to the top after original lead singer Dave Bickler "Eye of the Tiger" left with vocal nodules. Jamison caught the MTV craze of the 80's with Survivor. They had 4 top singles during that time. RIP Jimi

It was from Adderall though, not an illegal drug he purchased in an alley somewhere. I knew him at the time. My friend scheduled his venues.
It was prescribed and he had just started taking it again while on tour. True, it's an amphetamine, indistinguishable from meth on a tox screen, but a little context can be super important sometimes. They also didn't find elevated levels of the drug in his system, that's why it was ruled a cerebrovascular event secondary to an "incidental intoxication from amphetamine poisoning." Incidental has a very specific definition in medicine. I am a physician by trade.
I am also good friends with his then fiance, who also independently confirmed what I just told you.. I know you didn't mean to trash talk him, but like I said, I knew him and I always try to set the record straight because you never know who reads these comments. You know, like his kids, maybe?
It was just an unfortunate accident. A very unfortunate accident. Tragic. But you know, Jimi wasn't a young man anymore, and he had some other health problems going on at the time. I know that for a fact. Combine that with the way you live on the road in a band, being dehydrated, oftentimes exhausted, sleep deprived, not eating healthy, etc. and How that affects your heart rate and blood pressure... It happens more than you know. Not just with musicians and bands.
It's a risk you take whenever you use a medicine like that when you're older. It's also a risk the health care provider has to be willing to take when prescribing it. He may not have gotten the appropriate checkup /workup / follow up when getting the medicine. Some careless healthcare provider of some sort could have nonchalantly prescribed it to him or something for all I know. It happens all the time.
Anyways, I didn't mean to call you out personally, just wanted to provide some context.

@@BranmanOfBranland Friend thank you very much for your clarification, how good that you say things clearly as they really happened, we know that Jimi's death was an accident, whenever someone accuses him and says that he was a drug addict I always defend him because I know that he was not! And thanks for saying in this comment that jimi, yes he had a girlfriend, a fiancée, because I told a friend of jimi's, who worked with him from the 90s until 2006, and she called me a liar in a few words, She insulted me, she told me a lot of things that made me feel really bad, And she told me that it wasn't true, she laughed at me, so I asked her a stupid question about Jimi, to wait for her answer and laugh at her as she laughed at me, she got very upset with me and has left me several messages asking me who Jimi's girlfriend was, what was her name, and I'm not going to answer her because she was very rude to me! 🤒😩
