On the Magdraft, if it's running to one side, simply bend the head of the bait a tad to the opposite side it's running. Also, when skipping the bait to keep the hook in place, when you put the hook in the slot, just take the hook point and place it in the plastic on the inside of the bait.
When you’re caught a few fish on the magdraft and the hook doesn’t stay in the slot, or if you lose the magnet, you need to find the third point on the treble that is welded on, then open it up to about 75°-80°, and stick the point into the bait. Next, pinch the remaining two hook points closer together, like on an albacore trolling hook, and you will increase your hookup ratio while keeping you bait fishable much longer. Also, get some Mend-it to fix any tears.
Thanks for the information. I fished the MagDraft for the first time last year and loved it. Bought a second one and had the issue with the lean on retrieve. I fish a lot of dirty water so I may have to try out the ole Cull Shad.
If you haven’t, the Raid Osakana slide and Osakana swimmer are money, different type than those 2 but very legit. Edit: on skipping with the magdraft use the Ryugi keeper insert thingy, it’ll hold the in place. Also, if the magdraft isn’t running right you can somewhat tune it by twisting the line tie/harness slightly to the opposite side, think crankbait tinging. If that isn’t working, placing a small, like really small, nail weight in the bottom side of the bait will keep from running on its side.

I bought a bass mafia loaded. I prefer the mag draft. The bml has a larger tail and is not as sutal swim as the MD. But the jury is still out on the bml, we will see.
The Daingerous Swimbait is different than the Magdraft, but better in most way. It swims just as slow as the MD, but can be retrieved much faster than the MD without blowing out, which is particularly important when fishing from a drifting boat in current. if you ever fish in a river, you’ll quickly find that you can’t retrieve the Magdraft with anything, but the most painfully slow retrieve because it will immediately blow out as you attempt to retrieve against the current. If you really want to do a side-by-side comparison, get the Magdraft Freestyle and the unloaded Daingerous Swimbait and rig them identically. Both get better, but you will see you could do more with the Daingerous Swimbait. don’t get me wrong, I still fish the OG Magdraft too, but I have specific times and places where I think it’s action works best.

I've heard with the mag draft , if you get one that doesn't like to swim straight the magnet is off center when bait was molded
Also, you can put a nail weight in the belly of the mag draft so you can reel it a little faster
