Thank you, Dr. Boz. What an amazing Live. You've helped me tweak my journey. I've been IF since last June and you've helped guide me through a plateau. As suggested, I've slid my eating window toward the morning and have improved my weight loss and my ketone production. I'm doing the sardine fast currently and will see how my body responds to this new stressor. Your show really has empowered me to be in control of my health. Eating less, without snacking, means I can afford organic food! I know I'm not flexible yet but I truly don't care. This is forever for me. I've lost 37 lbs, I don't have knee pain and I don't feel deprived as if I'm missing a particular food. Here's what's interesting. I don't feel hungry but I don't feel satiated. So, there's something mental going on with my brain. I eat. I don't feel hungry and I don't have a craving, I just feel...blah. I'm really enjoying what I'm eating because I love to cook! I make an excellent variety of dishes. I even love sardines, so this challenge isn't hard at all. It's just...I no longer necessarily feel the pleasure of fullness after I eat. I just feel odd. A small square of organic 80% dark chocolate makes me feel somewhat better. Any insights on what's happening here?

I’m fasting 42 hrs ever other day. I feel fantastic. My bg stays in the 60’s and ketones in the 3-6 range. Can I continue doing this for months. I’ve lost almost 40 lbs and have about 55 to go. I really enjoy eating this way. I weight train on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and walk 30-60 minutes the other days.
Thank you Dr Boz for answering my question. I have been on a ketogenic diet since 2019. Lost 45 pounds, reverse my diabetes, put it in remission, but it seems every fall I indulge too much in homemade goodies. That’s when I have a sluggish digestion, and bloating. In February 2022, I ended up with the C virus and ever since then I’ve been struggling. I started having pain in my abdomen in the summer, so I had a CT scan that said that I had gallbladder stones in October 2022, and then in March 2023 the stones are gone did not show up on the CT scan, the only thing left was a second gallbladder wall. I’ve been taking a lot of herbs and vitamins to try to reverse the thickening plus fasting 24 hours, eating one meal a day. I will continue with fasting and doing the sardine challenge. I’ll report how I’m doing later maybe in a month before I need to see the G.I. surgeon. I was scheduled to see by my doctor. I am ready to prove them wrong and show them that my gallbladder is fine and it can be healed ❤
Dr Boz, Thank you for the woman who was on OMAD and somehow couldn't lose weight..I am the same. I will up my duration of fasting from 16:8 to 48 hours and 36 hours because it should be simple to just eat sardines and drink water/coffee..😅 Still sticking to intermittent fasting..So tempted to take special dieting pills! But will not want to interfere with my body chemicals as far as possible!! I really want to loose weight..
Omad is difficult. You could do rolling 48s, with 1 meal in between fir a few weeks, but I would mix in weeks when you do 2 meals on your eating days. Too few calories ends up as calorie restriction and you slow your metabolism.
I hope you stuck with it! I’ve been doing 18 hour fast for months and have lost only 9 pounds. I’ve been mindful of my calories and carbs. Limiting both. It’s taking longer than I wanted but at least I’m not gaining weight! Trying to lose 7 more. But so happy to have lost 9!
Will adding nutritional yeast and onions fried in butter to the sardines stimulate insulin resistance? Sardines straight up in oil are hard for me to eat and give me indigestion but this combination doesn't. Plus it is surprisingly tasty and easy for me to eat.
I have done keto for years. I don’t need to lose weight or for any health reason. When I do I get very slow bowel movements. I make sure my salt intake to 3 tsp of sea salt a day. This is in drinking water and not counting foods eaten. I also eat tons of fat coming from foods and in butter and coconut oil. When I’m out of keto eating fruit my bowel movements are improved and regular.
I listened to this video. I’m studying keto and have tried it. But recently had a stroke. Is keto ok in 1st 6 months after stroke. You know cardiologist says no. I am small but now after stroke put on 36 lbs. belly fat and no diet gets rid of it. Must be insulin resistance although dr says no??? What to do. Advice?
Dr. B- Can you explain how OMAD and constant fasting is going to allow a person to meet adequate protein needs? I find it confusing that on average our bodies can only utilize about 30-35 grams of protein at one feeding. If a 120lb. Person is supposed to get 100-120 grams of protein, the only way to reasonably get that is to have 3 meals a day. If we do OMAD, we cannot meet that goal. I struggle to meet my daily protein intake. Before I started tracking my macros, I used to eat protein to fullness and when I started tracking, I found I was less than half of what I should get. Once I started eating what I should get in protein (with fat of course), my health improved, I actually started losing weight and my period started again. I was in amenorrhea because apparently my body ceased my cycle because I was not getting adequate protein and it was in starvation mode. So I only fast 72 hours once a month and an occasional 24 hours once in a while. The rest of the time I work hard to make my protein number so my body has the protein it needs to build bone, muscle and have normal hormones and function.
I'm 10 months into keto and make high ketones..OMAD usually eating around 5-530pm. My ketones can be 2.9 in the morning and 3+ and over 4 if I'm running around work on night shift. I'm not new to ketosis like in the example.
I have gotten my fasting blood glucose from 90s to 70s (yay!), but my ketone readings are still only .5 in the morning. Later in the day they are between 1-2. I'm trying to hit that morning Dr. Boz ratio, but the ketones aren't coming up. Tips? Just keep going? It has only been a few weeks...

Just sharing my experience. I thought I needed 5000IU D3 (K2 added) daily living in the north. Had my labs done and my D status was 120! High. I guess all the eggs, meats and dairy was all I needed. I also take Krill oil and eat wild caught salmon a few times a month. The D3/K2 supplements were too much for me. Maybe get blood test of D status. He may not actually need supplements if he gets adequate animal proteins.

Hi, thank you for your work and helping people! I tried keto and the mild tinnitus that I had became louder to the degree that I stopped doing keto. I started slow and took about 2 months to start with the actual keto diet. I started by eliminating sugar, then gluten, then oats and finally other carbs. I was fine before I left out all the carbs. I don't have weight issues. I've been doing IF for 1,5 years. I took electrolytes when doing keto. The tinnitus got lower after I stopped doing keto but it didn't go back to its initial mild form. Do you have any ideas what caused the increase in the level of the tinnitus and how I can lower it? Thanks.
Sometimes Tinnitus is just us hearing the electricity. The electric grid is all around us. Some ppl r sensitive enough to hear it. Also some are so sensitive that they can hear their body tone from inside their body. All is sound.

Recent studies have shown that calcium SUPPLEMENTS are dangerous for your heart. Have you heard any of this? It’s a bummer bc I have an amazing bone supplement that has all the minerals (and vitamins) in it for healthy bone growth, but it has CALCIUM. 😣

What should one do if they make a mistake that upsets the belly? Back when I'd eat cards, I'd eat them and my tummy would settle. But, it doesn't seem to work with meat & fat as well. I've learned not to get there by not taking vitamins when I'm not eating, and eating fresher food. (I'll cook for a few days and freeze 1/2 so nothing over 3 days old). The vitamins I take include magnesium (magsrt) which helped with muscle cramps & planters facilities years ago... maybe I don't need it anymore. I'll have my doc check my numbers since this diet has healed many things.

Dr. Boz, my husband had his gall bladder removed in 1991. Ever since, when he eats fatty foods he immediately gets diarhea. In fact, no matter what he eats he is loose as a goose. I have tried giving him enzymes and ox bile with his meals, but it makes no difference. We eliminated sugar and artificial sweeteners from out diets over 10 years ago. Then we started on the keto lifestyle about 5 years ago. His glucose numbers are great, but he still has the same problem with looseness. Is the fat content of food really the problem? We tend to eat eggs-Canadian bacon-cheese for breakfast (he has a slice of real sourdough bread) around 1pm, then a salad with 4 oz of turkey or sardines for dinner. What should I try that might improve his condition? Should I eliminate the salad and bread to get rid of the fiber in it? I just finished a 72 hour fast, one meal of sardines with extra fat, and had great results. Would that cause more harm than good for him? He is 80, but has a healthy heart & circ. system. We are building a cottage, doing all the labor ourselves, and he is often mistaken for a much younger man. I would like for him to go for walks or bike rides with me, but he doesn't dare be far from the bathroom. I've always been told that fiber would slow down the movement of food through the bowels, but now I see that it causes more harm than good.

Dr Boz, I have being diagnosed Lysosome overload, especially in my kidneys, liver (can’t loose weight) and brain (explain headaches)- to detox is very slow. Okay, so 2nd baby on the way and gaining weight way too fast. My husband is a heavy equipment operator and we live in an RV following the work. So I'm stuck in the RV with a two year old in the boonies most of the time. Can I do keto? Any suggestions for a pregnent beginner?
Since I was treated for colon cancer, I have no control over muscle control of my colon, so I can’t stop poop 💩, I have slime always. I can feel it coming out but can’t stop it. I’m exercising to regain control. Any suggestions?
What about when a non diabetic's blood sugars drop below 40 during a fast? What does that mean? Not ready to fast that long? I take zero meds, a1c of 4.5 to 4.9, lift weights, walk 10k steps, low carb for years (100 grams on a bad day), I'd say cyclical keto, but do have about 20 lbs to lose, but I dont have the belly fat. I tried to do a 72 hour fast but my blood sugars where in the low 30s by 66 hours, ketones up at 6. I have yet to hear anyone I follow discuss a non diabetic with low blood sugar levels while fasting. I've heard about diabetics, eating keto, fasting and meds causing low BS, but not in a non diabetic. Thanks!
doesn't fasting alone say 20:4 and eating non keto still reduce insulin ? and wouldn't my labs show better numbers?? do you have to be keto in order to be healthy with fasting?
I don't have a gallbladder, and I am 6 weeks into Keto. Thursday I was vomiting a meal I had 5 hours earlier with a lot of bile and extreme nausea. Is this caused by too much fat? My ketones were high on the test strip.
Or you can do an stomach acid test, if it is too now you can add betaine hydrochloride, dr. Berg has a good video in how to diagnose and how much to take
I had all kinds of issues on keto eating tons of low carb veggies. Turns out I was eating tons of oxalates and poisoning myself. You can look that up. You need to substitute with low oxalate veggies, don't go cold turkey off veg or you can get oxalate dumping. It got that when I cut them out too fast, aka keto rash. But I no longer do all the excess fiber and high oxalates. Mostly animal proteins with some low oxalate veg.

@@virginiadavis8001 yes, not all veggies are good for us as I found out. I was eating lots of fresh organic kale, spinach, chard, celery, olives, etc. I already knew nightshades like fresh tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplants gave me severe inflammation. What I did not know is that there are a host of other veg that are high in another inflammation causing molecule called oxalate. They bind with calcium and make crystals that settle in joints, bones and other tissues. Some people get kidney stones from too many oxalates. Our own body makes oxalate but eating tons of them like I was is very bad. 😩
hello dear doctor. i have followed your videos in the past and even bought your book on ketogenic diet. however, i could not convince my wife to either read the book or follow you on TH-cam. my wife is overweight, suffers from diabetes2, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, and polycythemia Vera [ jak 2 positive]. we recently found out that she also has breast cancer stage zero. last week she underwent a lumpectomy for this condition and even though the entire cancer was successfully removed,at mayo clinic, a subsequent biopsy discovered a cancer molecule in some other part of her breast . she is 72 yrs old . i told her about you and your success to reverse a 4th stage cancer . she follows a mostly vegetarian diet that allows for some consumption of carbs ,eggs,very little meat,but no dairy or oil. i have finally managed to get her to eat one meal a day with 18-20 hrs of autophagy daily . she s currently on statins,amlodipine and hydroxyuria [1000 mg ] . my question to you is: can a patient like my wife go on extended autophagy? and if she can , for how long ? thank you very much .
Broke hip Sunday imbalance picking up trash. Early Monday did anterior replacement doing great remember I was the 80 yr old athlete. 10 miles 9 minutes sprints 2. So now reduced to walking perimeter of rehab in a Walker. Terrible food but keeping as close to Carnivore as possible. No butter here Omega6 only. Free sugars and pies and snacks killing these people.

Fasting isn’t the issue. It’s how to bring back food into one’s gut. I’m doing sardine/yolk/salt/iodine/butterfast May 2023, 31 days. That’s my goal.

I guess all the eggs, meats and dairy was all I needed. I also take Krill oil and eat wild caught salmon a few times a month. The D3/K2 supplements were too much for me. Maybe get blood test of D status. He may not actually need supplements if he gets adequate animal proteins.

Hi, thank you for your work and helping people! I tried keto and the mild tinnitus that I had became louder to the degree that I stopped doing keto. I started slow and took about 2 months to start with the actual keto diet. I started by eliminating sugar, then gluten, then oats and finally other carbs. I was fine before I left out all the carbs. I don't have weight issues. I've been doing IF for 1,5 years. I took electrolytes when doing keto. The tinnitus got lower after I stopped doing keto but it didn't go back to its initial mild form. Do you have any ideas what caused the increase in the level of the tinnitus and how I can lower it? Thanks.
Sometimes Tinnitus is just us hearing the electricity. The electric grid is all around us. Some ppl r sensitive enough to hear it. Also some are so sensitive that they can hear their body tone from inside their body. All is sound.

Don't forget magnesium for the osteoblast cells that build your bones. Calcium is not the only nutrient you need for strong bones.
Don't forget the amount of protein needed to build bones. Average 1g per pound of body weight.

What should one do if they make a mistake that upsets the belly? Back when I'd eat cards, I'd eat them and my tummy would settle. But, it doesn't seem to work with meat & fat as well.
I've learned not to get there by not taking vitamins when I'm not eating, and eating fresher food. (I'll cook for a few days and freeze 1/2 so nothing over 3 days old).
The vitamins I take include magnesium (magsrt) which helped with muscle cramps & planters facilities years ago... maybe I don't need it anymore. I'll have my doc check my numbers since this diet has healed many things.

Dr. Boz, my husband had his gall bladder removed in 1991. Ever since, when he eats fatty foods he immediately gets diarhea. In fact, no matter what he eats he is loose as a goose. I have tried giving him enzymes and ox bile with his meals, but it makes no difference. We eliminated sugar and artificial sweeteners from out diets over 10 years ago. Then we started on the keto lifestyle about 5 years ago. His glucose numbers are great, but he still has the same problem with looseness. Is the fat content of food really the problem? We tend to eat eggs-Canadian bacon-cheese for breakfast (he has a slice of real sourdough bread) around 1pm, then a salad with 4 oz of turkey or sardines for dinner. What should I try that might improve his condition? Should I eliminate the salad and bread to get rid of the fiber in it? I just finished a 72 hour fast, one meal of sardines with extra fat, and had great results. Would that cause more harm than good for him? He is 80, but has a healthy heart & circ. system. We are building a cottage, doing all the labor ourselves, and he is often mistaken for a much younger man. I would like for him to go for walks or bike rides with me, but he doesn't dare be far from the bathroom. I've always been told that fiber would slow down the movement of food through the bowels, but now I see that it causes more harm than good.
Rendered fat is often an issue. You should try rare meat and don't overcook the fat. I had problems too for a while.

What about when a non diabetic's blood sugars drop below 40 during a fast? What does that mean? Not ready to fast that long?
I take zero meds, a1c of 4.5 to 4.9, lift weights, walk 10k steps, low carb for years (100 grams on a bad day), I'd say cyclical keto, but do have about 20 lbs to lose, but I dont have the belly fat. I tried to do a 72 hour fast but my blood sugars where in the low 30s by 66 hours, ketones up at 6.
I have yet to hear anyone I follow discuss a non diabetic with low blood sugar levels while fasting. I've heard about diabetics, eating keto, fasting and meds causing low BS, but not in a non diabetic. Thanks!

I don't have a gallbladder, and I am 6 weeks into Keto. Thursday I was vomiting a meal I had 5 hours earlier with a lot of bile and extreme nausea. Is this caused by too much fat? My ketones were high on the test strip.
I had the same problem . I'm taking Dr Berg Bile salt. No problem.
Or you can do an stomach acid test, if it is too now you can add betaine hydrochloride, dr. Berg has a good video in how to diagnose and how much to take

I had all kinds of issues on keto eating tons of low carb veggies. Turns out I was eating tons of oxalates and poisoning myself. You can look that up. You need to substitute with low oxalate veggies, don't go cold turkey off veg or you can get oxalate dumping. It got that when I cut them out too fast, aka keto rash. But I no longer do all the excess fiber and high oxalates. Mostly animal proteins with some low oxalate veg.

@@virginiadavis8001 yes, not all veggies are good for us as I found out. I was eating lots of fresh organic kale, spinach, chard, celery, olives, etc. I already knew nightshades like fresh tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplants gave me severe inflammation. What I did not know is that there are a host of other veg that are high in another inflammation causing molecule called oxalate. They bind with calcium and make crystals that settle in joints, bones and other tissues. Some people get kidney stones from too many oxalates. Our own body makes oxalate but eating tons of them like I was is very bad. 😩

hello dear doctor. i have followed your videos in the past and even bought your book on ketogenic diet. however, i could not convince my wife to either read the book or follow you on TH-cam.
my wife is overweight, suffers from diabetes2, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, and polycythemia Vera [ jak 2 positive]. we recently found out that she also has breast cancer stage zero. last week she underwent a lumpectomy for this condition and even though the entire cancer was successfully removed,at mayo clinic, a subsequent biopsy discovered a cancer molecule in some other part of her breast . she is 72 yrs old .
i told her about you and your success to reverse a 4th stage cancer . she follows a mostly vegetarian diet that allows for some consumption of carbs ,eggs,very little meat,but no dairy or oil. i have finally managed to get her to eat one meal a day with 18-20 hrs of autophagy daily .
she s currently on statins,amlodipine and hydroxyuria [1000 mg ] .
my question to you is: can a patient like my wife go on extended autophagy? and if she can , for how long ?

Broke hip Sunday imbalance picking up trash. Early Monday did anterior replacement doing great remember I was the 80 yr old athlete. 10 miles 9 minutes sprints 2. So now reduced to walking perimeter of rehab in a Walker. Terrible food but keeping as close to Carnivore as possible. No butter here Omega6 only. Free sugars and pies and snacks killing these people.
