Morning Dr. Boz, I’m pre diabetic and wore the device for 14 days. What an eye opening experience it was!!! I discovered during my time wearing it what foods actually were spiking my glucose levels. My diet has totally changed for the better and my spikes are way down, I have lost 20lbs from when I started this journey, I was 270lbs. Feeling better and I’m enjoying the way I eat, I don’t miss the old me!! Larry
Thank you Dr. Boz for offering the CGM. I am pre-diabetic with sarcoidosis and paid for the device with your help ( I received the prescription) in December. I am one of those people that all of a sudden my insurance began paying for it a few months back😊. My A1C went from 6.2 to 5.6 and I have reduced my inflammation from sarcoidosis due to your teachings. Please continue to do what you do.
The ketogenic/carnivore diet has been a Godsend. Was on Humaria for 5yrs till I began developing reoccurring MERSA infections. Humaria did help and with continued Keto So far I have been in remission.
We will always need you! What you teach on you tube alone is invaluable. I am so thankful for your willingness to do this. I am a long way from Florida.
I've been using a cgm for about 1 month. It's been a game changer & has helped me be much more cognizant of what foods do & don't spike my blood sugar. I make a game of keeping my blood sugars within a certain range, my average glucose under 100 and my fasting blood sugar under 90. I love having this continuous feedback to help keep me on track!
I have been Type 2 for over 25 years and I stilled learned from this video. I am currently in a great place. Have been wearing a CGM for over a year (Abbott Libre 2) which has resulted in a weight loss of over 60 pounds. My insulin usage has greatly decreased, down from 5 to 1 shot a day with less than a third of N and even a greater decrease of fast acting. My last A1c went up to 5.9%. A CGM is a game changer as it allows you to eat what the body needs instead of eating whatever you want, whenever you want it.
I admire you so much Dr. Boz. You truly care about people and work so hard to help and motivate others. I hope you have a good care team for yourself as well. I have your workbook now and hope to join your class. I want a CGM so bad! Thank you for sharing these case studies and your reviews!
My diabetic husband didn’t like it so I used the las 2 we had on hand while I did my sardine fast and my 3 day water fast. I am so happy that I can now purchase one OTC!!! Thanks for all you do to teach us!!!
Hey Doc, I’m a 64yo male with T2D , I’ve been wearing cgm’s for years even though health insurance does not cover the cost. Thanks to you and the new otc life is much easier without fighting with my health carrier who wanted me to take meds instead of cgm’s…
@@ziggycorfield5904 yeah, I can't feel my lows (dangerous) due to brain damage from healthcare neglect when I died working as a nurse who did not get help, so I'm low income, have to use it for literal life saving ......illegals get it free though, just fyi
This is such good news! thank you so much for educating us and I am going to be in prayer that there is a way for you to have another stream of income to continue to bless patients that need your help. You are such a special doctor and awesome human!!
Its only covered by Medicare here if u are type one. Covid hospitalised was 80% obese. Every obese person should have got one and told to do what they can to stem the insulin spikes. Nope all roads led to sickness and clotshots.
Thank you! This is exactly what i needed. I'm insulin dependent type 2 diabetic. I've been watching your videos and just finished Anyway You Can today. I've had a Decom G7 for about 15 months. I'm getting ready to start keto as soon as i get back from a trip this week. Seeing what these two people did was a big help. I'll be starting your ketoContinuum book in a few days, waiting for the workbook to arrive. I've been doing OMAD for quite a while to keep my weight in check and to keep my insulin usage down to 30 to 40 units a day when i eat. I think keto may be what i've been looking for. I'm a 69 year old male.
Dr. Boz, I too was a user of the CGM unit for 90 days. Even with insurance paying a portion it was over $400 for a 3 month supply. Once I went back, the price had increased again. At that point, I was done due to expense. It WAS a wonderful tool that allows the user to see their data real-time as they live their lives and make choices. I loved them, but not the price.
I’m not diabetic but I have been wearing a CGM for 4 years. I continue to learn things specific to my body. It has helped me see what effects my blood sugar I.e. sleep, illness, certain foods, stress, exercise, time of day, travel etc. the data also holds me accountable.
I convinced my doctor to order it. She said insurance wouldn’t pay for it because I wasn’t diabetic. I was willing to pay out of pocket, I just need the prescription
I recently ordered my Stelo and received it the next day. I placed it in my upper arm and really appreciate the information I am getting. I'm not diabetic so this is eye opening for me.
@@axelpool8776 I ordered one about 2 months ago on-line. It came in about 3 days. It is $90 per month. My Medicare does not cover it. I believe I am pre diabetic. It is very enlightening
It took me 3 to get used to them. But I am a type 2 diabetic. They have changed my life. But if you hit a nerve it sucks. My current one is nervy and my last is not. I would also look into using activated charcoal as I had an over medicated issue and had to get off all my meds for about 72 hrs and had to take activate charcoal to remove medication. This reset my body and now for the most part my blood sugar is normalized.
So far the few people I know aren’t happy with the OTC CGM! I’ll stick with the G7 for now. Maybe they need to work the kinks out…but I wish they’d just offer the G7 at a lower price to everyone! The prescription from you last year changed my life and my husband’s. We couldn’t afford to get them each month so wore them sparingly and have to get a new RX from you soon. So THANK YOU for what you do!!!❤
I periodically view your videos and I’m so glad I watched this one. I had no idea I could get a monitor without having a diagnosis! The strips are such a hassle! I just ordered the monthly now.
I have been using CGMs for almost 2 years plus supporting two other seniors so I have a variety of experience across a lot of health professionals. I find most professionals are not familiar with them and it can be difficult to get cooperation and guidance from the people you would expect. I have seen different insurance coverages applied and it can’t be explained why. I recommend people try for anything and everything. Don’t take no for an answer, and don’t give up.
I've used the Stelo for a week now. I learned a lot. The test strip glucose monitors show very little data on how food or behaviors affect your blood sugar. The CGM shows way more detail in a way that allows you to see how your behaviors affects your blood sugar and now it feels like I can see where I was once blind.
i can just keep listening to you all day telling us about real life examples and the little details about what's happening to each person's body. it's so interesting and it also gives us some valuable nuggets of information to use to work on our body. thank you for your dedication and hard work teaching this.
I have been using the Dexcom Stelo for 2 months and have been happy with it. It is normally 10 points off but I account for that. I have had one sensor fail that Dexcom replaced. My son is Type 1 and uses G6/7 so we are used dealing with CGMs and Dexcom. It was eye opening and educational to see what foods were causing rises in my blood sugar. I am looking forward to trying Libre Rio when it is released. I don't see the maximum spike in my blood sugar until 1 hour after eating so when I was checking it at 30 minutes it would still be in the low hundreds. I am using it to dial in my A1C.
I wore one only because it was SO HARD to get off with one hand, the adhesive was so sticky!!! I talked to my pharmacist about alternate locations so I could use two hands for removal, and he said only the front thigh would work well. After a couple-month gap,, I just started wearing the second one yesterday. I'm getting ready for a fast-and-sardine challenge for lab test comparisons as my birthday present to myselt. I sighed up for your beginners course a while back and will start that as well 😊
Type 2 diabetic and I have wore dexcom g7 but switched to libre 3 because of cost for 10 months. I lost 40 pounds, and my a1c went from 8.9 to 5.7. My daily blood sugar is no longer in the 200. It now averages around 109. Just learned what not to eat, no carbs. The cgm kept me honest.
Trying to help my sister improve her T2D. She is having her blood sugars stay around 200...even with insulin. Had her contact her doctor today to ask if she needs additional insulin bc staying around 200 or more all day seems like uncontrolled to me. Are you still on meds getting your blood sugar down to 109? My sister recently had her gallbladder removed so she says she definitely could not eat keto. Says fat goes right thru her. Did you get your numbers down with low carb or only full on keto?
@@amandahale3247 no - additional insulin is not needed. It's mot just about diet.....there are many others pillars. what's her movement like? "Smart" phone user? type of job? Stress? toxic family? trauma? eating disorder, etc? If she had gallbladder out, she has other issues...she needs a good naturopath preferably nurse practitioner.....we see more holistically
@amandahale3247 I did keto but with a cgm to keep me from messing us. I could see what messed up my bs and some keto items spiked me. Once I cut those out it was hard but doable.
I've been watching and waiting for the Stelo to be released for months. I think the price is awesome and it appears to be a great tool to get me to my next level of dialing in and lowering my numbers. I just know going in that i may need to check and allow for potentially higher readings. This video is exactly what I've been waiting for. Keep up the good work, Thanks Dr. Boz 👍🏽
I’m from southern Oregon. This is my first time listening to your show. I’m aware of you from the carnivore community and everyone seems so happy to work with you. I’ve got a keto mojo but haven’t taken it out of the box, maybe I don’t want to prick my fingers 🩸. My A1C was 5.7 during some recent blood work. I couldn’t register ketones on pee strips no matter what I did. I prefer the carnivore diet to keto because any carbs would eventually get me off track. There’s no question about what’s acceptable or not on carnivore diet. But, still, after 2.5 years I haven’t been able to stay away from sugar/carbs 😭. I’m on again as of the last 3 days. Always feel better when I am. But, then sugar 😈. I’m a 57yo woman. I don’t like the scale but I weigh about 260. When I started I quickly lost 35lbs but then I had a reaction from my psychotropic med binding to protein, as my Dr said, and that made things difficult. Now when I’m on for a month I get seriously constipated (sorry if that’s TMI) and then I’ll eat a bunch of fruit like Drain-O, then I’ll just go for sugar. It’s been a recurring issue. I’m hoping that using Calm/Magnesium for sleep will help with the constipation. That got way longer than I intended for an intro. Anyway, hi and thanks.
@@LoriDRBlake to help with constipation increase your fat intake and or use chia seeds (Dr Boz talks about this in her book) or increase magnesium citrate. Try to not eat fruit until the sugar loving bacteria in your gut micro biome die off. the fructose in the fruit just keeps them going. This may take a while. Then your cravings will substantially disappear. Your meds may also be making it harder. You may find as you continue improving that some of those medications are no longer necessary but always check with your physician.
-- Updated -- Doc, thanks for this video! I've had my Stelo for 1 day and I was very surprised to know that I have a high glucose level during the day - average was 107 and I'm in ketosis! I've been in ketosis for about 8 years and I read that if you are in ketosis for a long time, it's common to have high glucose readings - those that a "normal" person would have. One person said that it took 1 day for his Stelo readings to stabilize, so my plan is to wait one day and then start comparing to my blood meter. -- update 9/5 -- I just compared. My Stelo said 98 and my Precision Xtra blood meter said 75! I was very surprised to see values above 100 from the Stelo because I'm making ketones (only .4 today but usually at least .5). It makes me think that the Stelo is way off!
It is: my fasting blood glucose is around high 90s to low 100s in stelo. I went to lab a week ago and my fasting glucose there was as 85! It is really off. But I use stelo more for trends than for the actual numbers.
I wore an Omnipod for probably over a year through my Endocrinologist...for blood sugar readings & insulin delivery! I wasn't always comfortable where it was placed on various areas of my body until the one on my stomach got a staph infection! Im sure that was one time my blood sugar numbers were up. I always have that from Doctors, "you were not complying with my diet, so the numbers were up!" To me its possible,"my numbers are off, so no matter what I do...an infection is present somewhere." I've been learning over the years: Keto Diet, carnivore sounds healing (just not easy for me for some reason!) Non cooperative Husband or Family. I love your dedication. My Parents are 92, and getting more fragile daily. Husband is a 100% Disabled Veteran...I have the paperwork to be his paid caregiver! Just never feel like doing the filling out! Catch 22 situation... tired, depressed, & so on...I'll keep watching for updates! Texas fan...sardine fan too! 😉
God bless you for being a faithful daughter taking care of your aged parents God will reward you. As for the meter, many women put it on their breast that avoids the bra strap from pulling it off early. Just a tip I got online. Doing the keto diet with intermittent fasting I lost 72 lb but be aware that you will lose muscle mass unless you're active and exercising.
What I have learned about filling out that kind of paperwork is to take it out one day and just fill out one blank line, even if it’s just your first name. If one particular blank line is too taxing keep looking until you find a line that has an easy enough answer to fill in for you at that moment. It may be slow, but at least it gets you headed in the direction of filling it. Or is there someone who can sit down and fill out some of the less intimate questions for you? Maybe with you verbally telling them some of the answers. And then you will have less work to do on your own. I’ve had chronic fatigue for years and years, so I have learned to do things in teeny tiny amounts and way slower than people regularly do. Also, if you need a break from even doing that tiny amount, take it. But don’t think of it as a failure and give up completely. Just think of it as a temporary break until you feel up to filling out one blank line again. Good luck with everything. ❤
I’m in the fifth month of wearing a CGM. Dex g7. I don’t hyper focus on it any more, but I do check after eating something, look after waking to see what occurred during the night and I check where I am before I go to bed. I have brought my A1C down from 6.1 to 5.6. Very happy.
I have been wearing my cgm for 20+ years. I'm type 1 diabetic, been on insulin forever - almost 40 years. CGM saved my life as much as insulin did. Insulin is half the battle, knowing your blood sugar determines insulin dosage, so it's part of it, in my opinion, you can't do insulin without cgm. I stopped eating pizza because of my cgm. :) I can also instanly tell the effect exercise has on my blood sugar (weight training!) & for how long it has an impact, which is very motivational to continue exercising. CGM is for everyone.
This is great news. My wife is pre-diabetic and going thru menopause and this could really help us get good data on how her body reacts to her diet and how her sugar levels affect her throughout the day and at sleep. Thanks!
I've been wearing a freestyle for about 4-5 months. I went off Metformin recently because I didn't want to deal with the "side effects" any longer. I discovered via my monitor that it wasn't really helping anyway. BUT.... I found that BERBERINE did indeed help! If I take it before or at the start of the meal, it keeps the number from going up as high as that food would normally cause. And if I take it AFTER the meal and a high spike, I see the high spike come down MUCH faster to normal. ALSO, my fasting numbers are more in the 80s and 90s on a week of using berberine, whereas they have been high 90s and usually 100's! And for me, no berberine side effects. So the CGM helped me see clearly the difference of metformin and berberine.
Still so grateful for getting my Rx through you! Please don’t stop! I’m trying the Stelo concurrently w/ a G7 and I definitely prefer the G7 - more features (especially calibration) and (for me) the G7 is more accurate. Glad there’s a cheaper OTC option, and even a basic CGM can be life changing, but I’ll be sticking with my G7 for my year prescription. 😊
I only wore it for one cycle. It doesn’t read blood sugar. It reads glucose levels in interstitial fluid and I had to calibrate the CGM each time I put a new one on. It was waaay off until I calibrated it by using the blood sugar reading. And yes, if you slept on it, it wouldn’t work. I ended up putting it on my stomach. For me it was an experiment since I don’t have diabetes or prediabetes. It was interesting once I got it to work but not something I would do again.
Really excellent hour! Every time I watch (which is frequently), I learn more. Over a five year period, your vids have been highly useful. Thanks for dishing out a lot of practical, doable nuts and bolts with explanation. Also, your books are wonderful.
I had 3x Abbot Free libre2 sensors. I learned a lot. I lost 45 lbs in 4 months. Not in keto yet, just low carb eating, avoidin poison foods. Greetings from Finland
I’ve worn CGM’s over the last few years on and off. I am not diabetic but I find the results fascinating. Upon hearing of this new monitor I literally ordered one within 15 mins. This can potentially help so many people. 👍
I asked my family doctor for a CGM prescription so I could see my numbers. He was nice and gave me a free sample! So I'm one who tried it for 14 days. I've been waiting for the over the counter version to come out and I'm so excited to have a CGM again.
i Have worn a cgm for15 months . In the first 97 days i learned so much about which foods caused severe spikes by watching my cgm after eating foods and then watching how they effected my sugar levels. In 97 days i had reduced my A1c from 8.6 to 5.3 . I also did intermitent Fasting, and reduced my carb intake down to 15 grams or less of carbs per day while doing the carnivore way of eating. I was taken off my statins, my blood pressure medicine, and my diabeties med, and lost 57 pounds to boot. The CGM is a great educational tool
Starting class on Monday and looking forward to it. Nervous but excited with some panic going on. Very interesting to hear about the 2 cases - I did a 22 day fast in May of 22 water only with salt as needed. I wish I had known to monitor anything other than how I felt each day. I would guess my body did similarly to case 2. Very excited to learn about Stelo.
From Ellendale ND. Have been wearing Libra3, paying for it myself for 1 1/2 years because it helps me stay accountable. I am on metformin but by keto diet and intermittent fasting have lost 58 lbs and reduced A1C from 10.2 to 6.6. My goal is to reduce weight by 30 lbs and achieve an A1C of 5.0!
Dr Boz, thank you for sharing this! I have been wanting to get a CGM for a long time. I recently started a new job and having been saving up HSA dollars so I could get one and get reimbursed. I got approved to use my HSA to join Levels and get one but haven't had the $$ yet. Plus, I would have to pay up front & get reimbursed. I just ordered the Stela CGM - and I was able to pay using my HSA card! Very affordable too! I will consider it an "entry-level" CGM for me. I hope it works well! If not, I will transition to a better one later! Thanks again for all your wonderful information! -- Josselin RN
I started a no carb diet in Nov last year. It took nearly 8 months to start seeing ketones on my strip tests. In the month I have seen these rise to a regular 2.5. My poor liver must have been so overloaded, I still have an elevated glucose level but it’s not coming out in the urine anymore. I’ve been a T2D since 2010 but relied on my Dr to provide the answer in conventional medicine. It just kept getting higher and higher to the point I was getting neuropathy in my legs and feet. Some ulcers on my lower legs, could not sleep due to pain and need to visit the toilet 5-6 times a week. The one thing I think is different is I have never been overweight I was just skinny fat. The no carb diet has been a bit rough adjusting to what my needs were but after about 3 months the worst of the symptoms were either gone or some much better that it made little to no difference to my day to day. Your channel and many others have given the tools, knowledge and encouragement to keep it going. I eventually sacked my doctor because he wanted me to go back on the meds. I found a better way. Thank you Dr and all the others that helped me through this most challenging middle of my life.
To the person asking about exercise raising blood sugar, it’s most likely because of the intensity. After I lift or do total gym hard, it’s always higher. I then lower it by doing lower intensity, either moderate spin bike or walking for 30 minutes.
I'm transitioning to a low carb diet, in hopes of solving some of my ongoing health problems. I've also never been overweight, and I'm pretty lean but have some excess body fat around my abdomen. I've noticed an increase in abdominal fat since menopause, 4 years ago. My A1c is just one point below the "pre-diabetes" mark, which the doctor considers to be fine. This is not fine to me at all! To me, this elevated blood glucose (even though it's not in the danger zone) means there's a problem. I began cutting way back on sugar in my diet about 4 years ago, and for a year now I don't even eat fruit anymore, or any other kind of "natural sugar". But my A1c still remains elevated. I have some health concerns that are negatively impacting my life (unexplained neuropathy pain in feet and legs, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, mood swings, etc). After doing research, I want to try a low carb diet for an extended time to see if I can get to feeling better. Doctors have been no help whatsoever! They take one look at me, and because I "look" healthy they don't take my concerns or my pain seriously. I tired of it, and I'm going to figure this out for myself, because apparently no one else can!
@@christinelamb1167 Hi, I am overweight, 235 lbs/5'4', and I am 70 years old, my A1C had been 6.9, 6.2, 6.1, 5.9, on previous yearly blood labs, but then some of the podcasts recommended Intermittent fasting and I decided to try it, and it has helped, I started last year, but I am just doing the 8/16, I also stop having a dessert after each meal,,, my last lab work showed my A1C was 5.5. I also gave myself a break from strenuous exercise, I take walks instead. My weight is coming off very slowly now, but I have to be patient with myself. The way they explain it is, what needs to happen is allow our body to bring insulin all the way down, and that happens when you don't eat anything during the 16 hours (or however long you fast for) and brings your BS or glucose down, hence lowering our Insulin levels if you repeat this every day. Dr. Mandy Pelz is whom I follow, she specializes in women fasting, because women are different than men, they need to fast differently and she explains all the variables. I hope this helps you. :)
I just started wearing a CGM a month ago. It does not always match my blood glucose from strips, but the post-prandial excursions still give me valuable information and I love tracking it! Love your show. Thank you for this podcast, it is great!
What ever you're selling, I'm buying. Subscribed. The visual aids are so good to help drive home the critical concepts and processes you are talking about. Loved it. Learned it. Thanks!
I've worn six Dexcom G7s while reversing T2D w/carnivore lifestyle. For the cost, I dont need it anymore, but I do use my glucometer a couple days a week to make sure no upward trend, and blood ketone strips while extended fasting.
I love my CGM and luckily insurance covers it even though I am a T2D. Provides negative feedback when I’m less than vigilant with my diet. With Mounjaro and a ketogenic diet, drove my A1C down to 4.9. It was also helpful when the shortage often left me without Mounjaro for weeks at a time.
I was diagnosed pre-diabetic but I can control my blood sugar pretty good. Plus I’ve been gifted with a body reaction that tells me when my blood sugar is high. It’s my waist. I get a prickly feeling on my waist, starting on the sides and extending to my back. I have a coworker that will, on occasion, give me what he thinks is a treat. Well sometimes I’m strong and will regift it to someone else. Sometimes I’m weak and will eat it. One day he gave me a box of the old fashioned Raisinettes (choc. Covered raisins). And I ate the whole box. It made my reaction happen and it lasted for several days!! You just reminded me of that event.
Carmel covered popcorn's another. Boy scouts were selling bought a couple boxes, after even a few handfuls I get awful icky feeling which I now think was high glucose. Didn't have a CGM or even a meter back then so who knows. But now when they come by (or the Girl Scouts) I just ask "Can I donate instead"?
I have been at type 1 for 23 years. Not until the new Omnipod working with Dexcom did my blood sugars get under control as if I was not a diabetic. Started years ago with Medtronic Minimed. Fast forward, the Omnipod insulin pump has AI learning. So you don't have to use different insulin delivery patterns. The AI program on the Omnipod learns when your sugar drops or rises and adjusts the insulin flow before the rise or falling trend goes too far. I am 55, 115 , 5'6". Eat basically a keto diet. Also, the Omnipod has no wires. We just found your channel yesterday and subscribed. We love your channel. My husband found your channel and shared it with the family. ❤
I'm a T2D (no meds, exclusively managing it via nutrition & exercise for the past 7 years) and have used two Dexcom G7 sensors. Each time, I got some really valuable insights. I'm also a long time Dexcom shareholder and was trying to understand why they decreased the frequency of the updates on the Stelo (every 15 min) vs. the G7 (every 5 min). Then it hit me. The two devices probably use the same battery, yet somehow the Stelo lasts 5 days longer. So Dexcom needed to extend the battery life for the Stelo and must have decided - we'll continue to take the reading every 5 minutes but to conserve battery life, we'll just communicate with the smartphone, Apple watch and/or Dexcom monitor only 4 times per hour instead of the usual 12 times. As for the lack of the calibration feature in the Stelo, I can't think of any technical reasons why they did that other than to differentiate the two product lines. If you absolutely need the calibration feature, you have to pay more and get the G7.
@@brendashelonko2149Sounds like a reasonable plan. Use the G7 with the full set of features at least once to become familiar with the product. Then switch to the Stelo for the cost savings if you're not on insulin and need the calibration feature + more timely alerts.
My doc grudgingly prescribed a few Libre3 CGMs for me as I was trying to beat pre-diabetes. The insurance did not bat an eye at covering it which surprised me. I found even the first one immensely helpful and helped me rearrange my diet with the help of an app to go low carb. Dropped 30lbs through diet and gym. I used the remaining ones sparingly over a few months. TBH, the Libre3 was easy to wear but the alarms *cannot* be silenced and blasted me out of sleep too many times when I slept on the sensor. Also had one the would not work (which they replaced). I haven't worn it for almost a year and think I have been straying, will likely get some Stelos! I do not plan to wear them 24x365, but probably will wear continually until I get to back to a good place, then one every couple of months to keep me honest.
❤ love this video! Thank you for sharing the real world/time glucose/ketone/insulin levels with us in the diff body mass types. Sooooo helpful in understanding these processes & differences as we go through changes in our bodies👏
Been wearing a Freestyle Libre 3 for 10 days trying to correct my pre diabetes and fasting blood sugar levels. I’ve been trying to understand why my fasting glucose lives over 100 and taking more than 18 hours to get below. I also noted spikes with exercise. I had heard the liver is giving up its stored fat using gluconeogenesis but it finally sunk in using the example of the fella fasting over 30 days! Thanks, I’ve followed you for years when I began to learn about Keto and your parents were alive. I even bought your book.
I love Dr Boz and have both books hard copy and audible. I’m 71 and weigh 150 now still fat for my 5’5” height. I give up. I’ve been carnivore and keto and I guess I’m normal. CGM 6-12 months low HA1C. I hate to say it but I’m tired of tracking.
If your A1C and other health markers are good and you feel good why bother with all the tracking? As long as bloodwork is good and you feel good, why not just keep eating healthy and forget about trying to track everything.
Commit to 1 hour a day maintaining zone 3 cardio for 30 minutes of that time and zone 4 cardio for the other 30 minutes. Works better than any supplements I've found or diet types. Total steps in the day don't do it. It's about this concentrated time of keeping the heart rate consistently in zone 3 and 4. If you can spike it into zone five cardio for 10 to 15 minutes of your hour, even better but you may have to work up to that. I simply start out walking as fast as I can up a mountain and tell I'm fully warmed up and I'm ready to run and take it into zone 4 and up.
Estrogen deprivation has a huge impact on your metabolism. Are you on hormone therapy? Estrogen deprivation , late perimenopause and menopause, usually causes trunkal obesity in ladies.
I immensely enjoyed this video! I loved the comparison of results among patients, it made me rbetter understand liver metabolism. Then, i watched another channel reg signs of sick liver. No 1 sign: cannot produce ketons during fasting😊 I totally knew why:) Thank you so much for the amazing work Dr🙏
First I thunk who is that pretty lady...I am gonna listen to her...then I thunk WOW she is smart and kind and truly helps people...finally I thunk what a beautiful person you are. May you and your family be blessed and thanks for all you do.
I love all the great work you do Dr. Boz! Keep up the great work! I've been wearing the freestyle libre 3 to keep me in line. They have been out of stock for a while and great to see an alternative! Thank you again!
Hey doc, I fall under the same category as this guy. I’m very insulin resistant like this guy. My BS never goes below 130 without metformin. My fatty liver has “improved” but I still have a ways to go.
I finally decided to talk to my DR about a CGM. Insurance won't cover it because I don't inject insulin. I got the Libre 3. The first one was interesting but didn't show me too much I didn't already know. If I ate carbs my numbers spiked. Pretty simple. The first sensor I did a lot of checking with my regular meter and it was accurate. Since then (I'm on my 3rd now) I am seeing a mid morning rise up into the 120's. I don't know why it's doing it. I'm doing OMAD and very low carb and my last A1c was down to 5.8 after just a couple months. And according to the Libre my average over the last almost 6 weeks is right around 100 but I'd like to see it lower. I've lost about 50 lbs in the last few months but still need to lose a lot more but am stuck here for some reason. So much more to figure out with this.

I started my Stelo on 9/1. I’m pretty new to CGM. I was disappointed that I couldn’t get numerical readings below 70. It’ll just say “below 70”. But I downloaded the free dexcom clarity app and when I ran the reports in there, I can at least see my min and max readings for every hour and saw that I got down to 61-66. Not sure if they’re legit readings or maybe I was laying on it for an hour.
I received my prescription from you. I was wearing it for personal study. I wore it one month. It cost me a great deal. My plan is to try it again this fall. It was fascinating to check different foods and activities.
Yes, I wore a CHM for several months. Great data, convinced me that carnivore, keto-vore was the way to go., loved it. Then the insurance company refused to pay..... Switched to Ket-mojo
Debating whether Ketomojo will be enough or if I should spring for the CGM. How many times a day do you check with Ketomojo? Was it helpful to have the CGM first? Thx
I am insulin resistant and obese. I'm a biologist. I really want the data to help me understand what's happening when I eat and when I fast. I convinced the doctor to order a fasting insulin but can't get them to let me purchase a CGM. I'm willing to spend the money! I was told because I'm not diabetic, the numbers will not be accurate. As a scientist, I believe I can understand the data.

I know it may not matter, but which CGM did you get?
Amazing, Larry! 💜
Same story for me, my sarcoidosis is sneaky as far as inflammation goes

Also, I am in awe of your ability to do it all - doctor, wife, mother, and God knows what else.

Very insightful and puzzling.

Worth a read today Robert Kennedy article in the WSJ about nations health. He is talking how govt has ruined health care.
Im wearing CGM for about 3 months now. Life changing.
i can just keep listening to you all day telling us about real life examples and the little details about what's happening to each person's body. it's so interesting and it also gives us some valuable nuggets of information to use to work on our body. thank you for your dedication and hard work teaching this.

I've used a CGM for 1 year. LOVE having it! Not only gives me lots of good info, it holds me accountable...even just to myself.
I wore one only because it was SO HARD to get off with one hand, the adhesive was so sticky!!! I talked to my pharmacist about alternate locations so I could use two hands for removal, and he said only the front thigh would work well. Trying to help my sister improve her T2D. She is having her blood sugars stay around 200...even with insulin. Had her contact her doctor today to ask if she needs additional insulin bc staying around 200 or more all day seems like uncontrolled to me.
It is, wAy off!! Read the rest of these comments!!
It is: my fasting blood glucose is around high 90s to low 100s in stelo. I went to lab a week ago and my fasting glucose there was as 85! It is really off. But I use stelo more for trends than for the actual numbers.
I have worn one for years. I like having my night mode on my phone display in a dim light my number. I like seeing the number through the night.
I bought the stelo. I love it. I didn't realize how my levels change while I'm sleeping
No no…….We will always need you Dr Boz❤❤🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤😜
Thanks!

I fasted for 20 days with water and salt. I measured glucose and ketones. I calculated Dr. Boz ratios. Very interesting results.
Straight? You just starved for a while?
How often do you take it?
What were bad side effects of metformin and what dose of Berberine. Thx for sharing!

It was interesting once I got it to work but not something I would do again.

i Have worn a cgm for15 months .

I’m on day 42 of the CGM. I’m learning so much.
This is by far your best video to date. Thank you. Sincerely.
Wow. That’s sayin’ something. I have a lot of videos …
Thanks for the praise
Just ordered the Stelo, can't wait for it to arrive.
Hi Dr Boz, I'm and 81 yr old T1D tuning in to this from Vung Tau, Vietnam. I really enjoy your show.
Im on day 3 of my Stelo, its life changing. So is keto!
I get this too!
😮😮It’s hard when a relative/friend has food gifting as their love language.
Thank you Dr. Boz. I totally love what you do. Fort Lauderdale Fl. Love you
I have been at type 1 for 23 years.
Do you think starting with the G7 for a couple of months and then switching to the Stelo is a good strategy?
Thank You Dr. Boz🙏
I've wabted to try a CGM for several years now. I think this video is going to push me over the edge.
I definitely want to try it. I think it would be very illuminating.
I’m new to your channel but I love your videos and have subscribed.
Looking gooood Dr. Boz
Elbows up in that dress looking 🔥
I love Dr Boz and have both books hard copy and audible. I’m 71 and weigh 150 now still fat for my 5’5” height. I give up. I’ve been carnivore and keto and I guess I’m normal. CGM 6-12 months low HA1C. I hate to say it but I’m tired of tracking.
If your A1C and other health markers are good and you feel good why bother with all the tracking? As long as bloodwork is good and you feel good, why not just keep eating healthy and forget about trying to track everything.
that is not fat i think 🤔 you at most 14lbs over but maybe not depending on your build
Try building muscles.
You are still needed. CGM is only part of the process.
ordered yesterday delivered today, thanks for the info....
I immensely enjoyed this video! I loved the comparison of results among patients, it made me rbetter understand liver metabolism. Then, i watched another channel reg signs of sick liver. No 1 sign: cannot produce ketons during fasting😊 I totally knew why:)
Thank you so much for the amazing work Dr🙏
First I thunk who is that pretty lady...I am gonna listen to her...then I thunk WOW she is smart and kind and truly helps people...finally I thunk what a beautiful person you are. May you and your family be blessed and thanks for all you do.
I "thunk" she's beautiful and smart too. 😉 😜
@@missafy7397 thanks for the note...you made my day!
I love all the great work you do Dr. Boz! Keep up the great work!
I've been wearing the freestyle libre 3 to keep me in line. They have been out of stock for a while and great to see an alternative! Thank you again!
From one "Bos" to another...Thank You!
@@MrJdubbya36 congratulations on your success so far! Dr Boz talks about plateauing in her book. Your body is adapting and needs new/different/more metabolic stresses. Walking, HITT training, sauna…and fasting
I am 6 weeks in on my cgm. It’s super helpful. I am type 2 diabetic.
I’ve been wearing the Stelo for 6 days now. I didn’t realize at the time that I was such an early adopter.
Could send screen shots or you could look up freestyle Libre 2 for several months keto to ketovore to carnivore! 7.8 or 7.9 A1C now 5.1. Sleep apnea evaporating,...
60 lbs lost so far,...triglycerides & blood pressure down. Blood oxygen up. Life changing
Type 1 ….. wish it were so easy for me … on a g7 and love it …. exercise creates a low … a bite of chocolate I’ll go up to 300 … thank heavens for insulin …
It really stinks that so much info is placed on type 2. There needs to be more info on Type 1.
Thank you Dr. Boz
Thx
You still want to check your ketones...so even with CGM you will want a ketone meter. At least that's my thought on it.
Best video yet.
You're fantastic, Doc.
