It would be fantastic if international students look elsewhere for college. It would mean college tuition would drop for Americans and that is a great thing. I have two graduate degrees and am old enough to have seen how colleges went from mostly Americans to significantly more numbers of international students. Colleges figured out if they expanded their market global, they could make a lot more money and now colleges have billions and expand in many cities buying up real estate and gentrification of the areas they consume. Colleges have morphed into sisters of corporate oligarchy but get a pass and blessings because it’s “education”.
First graduate degree: mostly American classmates
2nd graduate degree later on: mostly foreign classmates from wealthy families who can afford American schools
US: find somewhere else to live poor folks, our local university is expanding and building year after year for more students (shhhh….let’s not mention they are coming from the wealthy families in foreign lands)
And there you have it…..the current operating strategy of most universities.

I understand protest I guess but why at Harvard? I’m only saying that because when you protest on the campus, how does that change what’s going on across seas? Or are they simply just trying to change peoples mind or what “side” to be on? If that’s the case, why not protest at the the Capitol?
If I’m wrong about understanding this did something else happen at the campus for protest to break out?

    • @mariusfacktor3597

I believe the student protestors are demanding that their university divest from Israel. Back in the 80s student protestors demanded that their universities divest from South Africa because they were appalled by Apartheid. The universities obliged, and a couple years later the US government followed and sanctioned South Africa. It was one of the main reasons South Africa was forced to end apartheid. So these students want to do the same to Israel to stop their occupation of Gaza.

Talk to any of these students about Palestine, and you will be surprised how thoughtful and articulate they are. One of them is a Fulbright Scholar who grew up in a mobile home park. I doubt that you will find disciples of Hamas, but you will find students appalled by the violence faced by the Palestinians living under occupation, apparently under conditions that violate the Fourth Geneva Convention (Secrtion 33).
