The strap cutter fropm the Roxon BA141517 set is surpsingly effective. Just learnt that it's been updated with laser etchings (ruler, hex nut size labels etc.) and am somewhat jealous. Tangentially related, just recieved a daicamping DL30 in the mail (christmas present for my dad) and wanted some advice: 1) Are the pliers supposed to be springless? 2) Any tips, outside of loosening the screws, to get all the joints moving more smoothly? 3) With knife laws the way they are here in Aus any suggestions or reccomendations for things to sub in to replace the 2 knives?
Also as far as replacing the two knives, some like to use beard combs, safty hook, or fish scaller. But any of those options will need modded. Shapeways, Aliexpress and Ebay have some unique parts that could work.
Mr. Kincaid, do they call it the "Rescue" due to only the strap cutter? I'd only be comfortable with prying open a paint can lid or something of soft density with the "nail puller". I would think Gerber would get input and feedback from first responders, police offices, EMTs and firemen. I'm not an expert but I don't think a "bottle opener" is appropriate for a "Rescue" multitool. I'm not trying to be biased because I'm a huge Leatherman fan but I feel the tool set could be more "emergency" based for a real world scenario.
I have the original center drive and the pliers are absolutely useless! They don't grab anything thin and slip right off the work piece! Even larger stuff slips out of the jaws. Leatherman all the way for me.
Thanks for rescuing me! … now, can you open this beer for me?! 😁
LoL!!
Gerber is the most extreme multitool company. The US made stuff is outstanding. The Chinese made stuff is below Nextool and other Chinese brands.
Good point.
looks like a design flaw to me if you have to open the bit driver holder to use the pliers

Yes the DL30 is spring less. I believe use will make the handle action smoother over time. I forgot about my Roxon strap cutter.

Cheers and thanking you muchly.

It definitely could have something more rescue oriented like an oxygen wrench.
I already have a centredrive and love it but I don't see enough to justify getting the rescue
I agree unless you are in some sort of emergency profession.
Thanks 👍
Welcome 👍
The bit storage is nice i guess but would prefer to have a flip bit
I understand. Maybe like the Gerber Armbar has.

I would check the bit holder at the handles end. If they're out of the way the pliers should close.
That price though 😮 …is probably the new norm in these times
Probably unfortunately!
Gde može da se kupi i koliko košta??
On Gerber's website - www.gerbergear.com/en-us/activity/serve/rescue/center-drive-rescue-molle-compatible-sheath-30-001893
@@hvacbudget8600😂 funny Leatherman comparisons on the bottom of the page. The OHT is not competition anymore, nice try Gerber.
Is it just me or they need to make a OTF scissors from this. MP600 Raptor
Great idea!
Gerber Crucial Black has a similar belt cutter that is exceptional...in a pretty mediocre tool overall.
Great job, I had forgotten that about the Crucial!
If only this had a carbide glass breaker...
the blade inside is not a good idea
It is in most countries in the EU.
