Random tip. I had a G Astra which produced random electrical issues similar to what we can see on the Zafira here. After several troubleshooting attempts by my car mechanic he asked one of the car electricians he new and he suggested checking the battery terminals. If they got hot, they are the problem and need to be changed. They changed the terminal which was bad (we were both flabbergasted with my mechanic on how a battery terminal can go bad...) and the symptoms disappeared.
Vauxhalls do be like that. I had a Corsa B that would randomly misfire/run on 2 cylinders and cut out when it got hot. On a motorway it would be fine for hours but around town it'd cut out and die and i'd have to wait 20 mins for it to cool and restart. It turned out to be the distributer shorting out when under heat soak. All of the dials falling to zero when it cut out at 19:09 was a PTSD Vauxhall moment
I had a Astra and zafira as company cars and both would go into limp mode when reved over 3k. Had to turn them off and on every 30 seconds, it got really boring really quick!
Thankfully our '97 Astra F had nowhere near as bad electrical issues but it did develop a problem where random warning lights would light up and stay on until my dad just put it on neutral and restarted it like Will did. Quality GM electronics :D
This no-start at the end reminded me of my Corsa c. The connector on the instrument cluster got loose, which in turn disabled the tach and speedometer, and the car wouldn’t start unless hitting the dashboard real hard.
nah he should've taken his top off, gained a few more stone, tattoos & mastered the wide fatman walk...with a buckethat he looks more like a typical lad at a summer rave
Nice run, here I would recommend some tips, I am a trucker, if that helps; do it at night, almost no traffic, better visibility (lights are easier to see in the dark) and colder outside, so better for the cars and safer for you and for the other cars, try to look for a straight portion with 3 lanes and no speed limit (use the left lane, think UK in this case), unafortunately in your case, hard to find considering your entry point into Germany, if you do a run in the future, I highly advise avoiding the Ruhrgebiet area (everything between Dortmund and Köln, including Aachen, make a circle, it looks like a black hole on the map), due to traffic, junctions, and speed limits. Have fun!👍
Zafira's crankshaft sensor might be gone. I used to have an Astra F with an X20XEV which is the same block and it had identical symptoms - random cut-offs while driving, fixed by just restarting the engine, getting progressively more frequent until it would die for good and refuse to start again. The old sensor simply disintegrated from age. I can't say for certain this is it, but these symptoms brought me some flashbacks haha Also, if Zafira's rev counter ever went bananas when the engine died, that's another clue.

For the Zafira I’d take a guess that it’s the crankshaft speed sensor or the coolant temp sensor. Both will cause it to cut out, not start again until it’s cooled down and are really cheap and relatively easy to replace. Being in Germany, I would imagine there will be plenty of stock over there too! Quality video again boys, loving this channels content so far.

Seems like you were in the Aachen/Venlo cologne area? That's usually quite crowded. I would recommend going a bit further south. I would recommend the A1 from Tondorf to the Bliesheim intersection. It's mostly unrestricted around 40km. and usually quite empty. The good thing about this part is that it has a constant gradient. Towards Bliesheim (close by Cologne) it's all downhill and the other direction is all uphill (a lot of sports cars catch on fire in this direction). The other stretch of road I would recommend is the A60 between Wittlich (it meets up with the A1 there) and Prüm (close to the Belgian border). You've got around 50ish km of unrestricted road there. usually pretty empty and with a lot of ups and downs. Some pretty steep and good to gain speed. Furthermore, it's quite close to Luxemburg so you can fuel up pretty cheap.
Great advice, someone else mentioned this in an old m3 forum, - i took this specific route when driving to the Nurbugring in the summer, slightly longer route but the A1-A60 autobahn route was great fun

@@riba2233i know but with nigel it would happen faster and be muuuuch funnier
I have one of those zafiras, very fun to drive just supremely unreliable. Would love to get mine back on the road. Shout out courtney sport, most knowledgeable people on these older vauxhalls
Why do you think anyone in europe would hate those brexit stickers?
We love that you've showed us that the right way forward is without the idiots in brussel who are ruining europe...
🇳🇱NEXIT🇳🇱👊🏻
Because they have been brainwashed to think it
I've written it in the last episode.
Transmission and engines mount and most importantly, shift link bushings for the crossfire.
Will give a great shift feel
Whats wrong with Nigel? or being proud to be an Englishman?
Is that why he tried to get a German passport after Brexit happened?
@@drunkenhobo8020 he asked whats wrong with being proud to be English and whats wrong with nigel farage? ... not "why did nigel get a German passport" ... your comments is a perfect example of some brainwashed BBC viewer. Absolutely crazy 😂
Absolutely love tdc, so much better than other channels the guys have been on. Keep up the good work
53 seconds 2 views, they fell off
Stop with this bullshit comments
The Zafira and Merida OPC (or GSI or whatever) are peak comedy to me, and that for a German car company. I wouldn't buy them but I find them kind of iconic for being so out of the ordinary!
The meriva opc is indeed a funny thing.
Come to think of it all opels from that era had an opc/gsi variant.
That brexit sticker was genius!
Love the content chaps
That sticker is incorrect, It should say "Only Milk, Juice & Elephants come in 2 Litres" lol Keep er lit lads, Great fun
Out of all the new channels, although I love them all, this is my favourite
Not bad considering the age of the cars. What the crossfire needed is more chrome to make it more slippery.
The whole GSI life is so natural to Will
Guys, I had more than a few 'laugh out loud' moments with this video. Keep it up.
Brexit stickers on a tuned Vauxhall (bonus points for the Zafira) is a coup de grace - well played Edwin 😂
Really love this channel and that in depth engine check👍🏻 keep on going guys greetings from NL
Them stickers and flags+outfit *chefs kiss* also definitely need a redemption for thr zafira maybe use whatever money you gey off selling thr crossfire to modify/make it more reliable
In Limburg, that province in the Netherlands are some nice curly roads too! instead of doing 150 you can admire the view of our mini Stelviopass ;)
100 thousand views in five hours, 200 thousand subscribers!! You boys are killing it!! Loving the channel gents, nice and relaxed car related bs
zafira sounds like is has a earth issue! common on these espeically when people have played with them, i own a coupe turbo with the same engine,
also check AFM wiring map wiring and injector loom wiring and do whats called the earth mod! fixes alot of issues! , the reason the aux belt is rubbing the oil cooler lines is becuase some ones running the wrong belt and direct route due to AC delete,
Never fully watched every video on any car channel until this one, top work lads keep them coming!
Edwin @01:11 "I asked Ben to come in from behind and check my rear..." next time ask Taylor...I'm sure he would have given you '2 thumbs up!'👍👍
Never seen any TH-camrs go through Venlo before! Fun to recognize some of the roads that were driven on.
The roads leading into Germany from Venlo are almost always busy. So while unrestricted, theyre not the best roads for top speed runs unless you get lucky with traffic.
Early Tuesday morning here & I'm having my coffee & watching you guys. What Edwin should have done to the Zafira was put on the gaudy 90's graphics on it, then he would have hit 150mph!
Loved this episode! Keep going!!
Might be a dodgy ECU on the Zafira.
I know the astras from that time were plauged with it.
Mine would cut out at random needing to be restarted mid-drive like this too.
I feel bad for people who haven't found this channel yet - you guys are great!
Edwin: "140MPH for £1500...all day long"
Me: Not in the sh1t heap that Will's driving you ain't, 140MPH once and the car dies...yup
🤣
This channel is worth every one of the 50% of people not subscribed and way more beyond that
As a Zafira gsi owner u should do some naughty things to it there cheep to get rapid
