I've encountered a similar key issue on an L322 project! To get those Bentley style flip keys working in the ignition, you need to swap over the little chip from one of the original keys that starts the car. If you slot that into a flip key with a working remote, it'll unlock the ignition and let you start the car!
Live in Brum and have been driving for over 17yrs. I have only ever bought one car from here - and I was screwed over by the dealer (they were a national company). I tend to go north for my motors and get what I pay for!

This conglomerate of TH-cam channels, when they don't buy a BMW, they buy a Land Rover, I know that both brands are perfect for TH-cam, since the cars look good and are always breaking down, but a little variety would be nice.
yeah i agree, i feel like this will be like alexs channel really. had plenty other options, VW Touareg, Audi Q5 Q7, Toyota Landcruiser, Mitsubishi Pajero.
lol most of my cars have been from Birmingham. I’ve travelled all over the country to Birmingham to buy them. I’ve had no issues with any of them. First one was for £500, Mitsubishi lancer equippe and I ran that for 3 years, no services, passed every mot and only needed tires and brakes. I ran this into the ground until it gave up the ghost. I’ve had a Land Rover freelander from there too and still have it 3 years later. Maybe I just got lucky. My other cars 2 being from Cornwall were absolutely shit. Sold them all within 4 months.
I've bought a car from Birmingham and after 3 years and 3 times it's original value I'm still funding it like it's an ex wife with child support payments! 😭 The guy I bought my car from was late, his garage was no better than a scrap yard. His internet wasn't connected so couldn't take a card payment and must of had a dodgy MOT as the car had 17 pass years! And also I had 2 Keys for different things!
The M57 is common for the thermostats going so don't worry too much about that. I would recommend getting the swirl flaps deleted as they're made of plastic and definitely an engine kill if any of them break off.
bought a car in Walsall which was plagued with problems, head gasket gone, coolant pipes split, hidden rust. Guy wouldn’t have it until i got my Uncle (police officer) involved. Few days later i had all the money back in my account and that god forsaken car was gone out of my life
Ironically, the most reliable used car that I’ve bought was my old 330i bought from a chap in Birmingham. Anything from Keighley is a massive no no though…. I typically skip any car that has wind deflectors and even faster if the front seats are reclined to a silly angle. 😂
My dad got an '04 L322 last year for 2 grand I was dreading the MOT results; surprisingly only needed a new balljoint and control arm, pleasantly surprised until it took me TWO DAYS of heating and beating, grinding and cursing to get the bloody rusted-in things out. Still, it's fixed now. One common issue is all the electronics for the radio, sat nav and amps are in the boot, right near a common water ingress point, causes a ton of electrical issues when this gets wet and involves tearing the whole lot out and replacing it with a sensible aftermarket headunit. Problem solved.

I once brought a mk4 golf gti from birmingham, the car was completely fine, very good condition, the guy covered my bus fare there, picked me up from the station. wouldn't say its a bad place to buy from
The term don’t buy a car from Birmingham comes from the 70’s as going back then they used to put a lot of salt on the roads so you could guarantee they would be rotten underneath, those days are gone and nowadays cars are treated underneath so really there is no more a risk buying a car from brum than anywhere else in the country.
Well, I once bought a secondhand Volvo privately from Balsall Heath - and it had loads and loads of history, had been well maintained, and the seller was a genuinely nice guy. The car, which was bought as a beater, gave me good service for a couple of years - and I would have kept it, but had no need for it in the end and…….I couldn’t sell it! So sadly it was scrapped.
I think this raises the point that it really depends on the car you're buying from birmingham. A volvo estate has not been driven about by some tosser with a stud earring and neck tattoo compared to a bmw 1 series etc.
Fun thing about that old Buick barge, it came with a factory heavy duty towing package that was unique to the buick, unlike its Chevy Caprice, and Oldsmobile Vista cruiser siblings. They were rated to tow between 5-6,000 lbs. And with it's Dyna-ride rear air ride, it would self level.
U guys are evil, but also hilarious for using that BMW panic inducing Schrödinger-ding. Could be cold outside? Could be low headlight fluid? Maybe the engine dumped all its oil? I need to put this as my notification sound lol

If you put Birmingham and Bradford into a league table of places not to buy a car it would be the same as Celtic and Rangers in the SPL. Both fighting for top spot with everyone else squabbling over 3rd place.
Our Milwaukee Wisconsin USA is your Birmingham. Bought 2 cars from the greater MKE area and both were terrible. Many others I’ve looked at are either in terrible shape, stolen, or no paperwork.
I got a E60 320d from Birmingham, had it for about 4 days and noticed problems like if you locked the door with the engine on the windows opened and it developed another few problems. Went to go back to the garage and it had shut up shop😂😂 was out about 4.5k.
I went to see a Fiat 500 in Birmingham, dodgy car repair place selling it on an industrial estate, it was just left out on the road full of condensation, I could see damage even inside the engine bay, it had stripes done with a brush, and on a test drive it would 'sometimes' pull strongly to the right as if something was very seriously loose or broken in a dangerous way.

I've encountered a similar key issue on an L322 project! To get those Bentley style flip keys working in the ignition, you need to swap over the little chip from one of the original keys that starts the car. If you slot that into a flip key with a working remote, it'll unlock the ignition and let you start the car!

B’Leicester
B'Manchester too.

Live in Brum and have been driving for over 17yrs. I have only ever bought one car from here - and I was screwed over by the dealer (they were a national company). I tend to go north for my motors and get what I pay for!
Wow that first one was a lucky escape. That area didn't look too charming and I did wonder if you were being set up to be robbed? Maybe you were and then they saw the cameras etc? Anyway, a lucky escape.
Cameras won't stop a real thief
They would have knicked the camera to
Never buy a car from Bradford, Burnley, Blackburn, Birmingham, Halifax, Dewsbury, High Wycombe and yes, they all have a common denominator
Or Luton!!
All toyotas ? 😂😂
Yep, they sell all their crap they have raced around.
I bought a 3 yr old mondeo from a backstreet in Liverpool when I was a naive 22 year old. Wasn’t my finest moment.
2 areas I would never buy a vehicle from. Kent and London.
Over priced.
They got Ben from CT as well! How long till Jack and Ethan come along here?
Would love to see that tbh
Hopefully soon. Jack and Ethan are hilarious together, as are Jack and Edwin.

The sticker on the number plate is that of the Free French Forces, it's likely been added to the number plate as a symbol of solidarity with the French farming protests 👍
This conglomerate of TH-cam channels, when they don't buy a BMW, they buy a Land Rover, I know that both brands are perfect for TH-cam, since the cars look good and are always breaking down, but a little variety would be nice.
This is why I got bored with the old channel. They are just doing the same thing.
Yeah, but they know a specialist who can help fix it and they stated it was for filming and towing. There aren't many better choices for 5k.
yeah i agree, i feel like this will be like alexs channel really. had plenty other options, VW Touareg, Audi Q5 Q7, Toyota Landcruiser, Mitsubishi Pajero.
@@JP_A3 Considering their limitations of 10 miles within Birmingham and a £5k budget, I don't think they would have had that many options.
I agree, but really, I don't care... I just want to watch some guys buy shit cars and have good banter.
19:54 Call your L322 'Brum' because a) hes from birmingham and b) bit of british motoring/media historical significance
lol most of my cars have been from Birmingham.
You lads are going places, naturally entertaining without trying hard or going over the top.
You two....excellent content gentleman. May you achieve everything you both want!
bought a car in Walsall which was plagued with problems, head gasket gone, coolant pipes split, hidden rust.
Ah Birmingham, the arsehole of Britain, the day after a super spicy curry and food poisoning, what a delightful place
Take it back, get the Phaeton 😂
My dad got an '04 L322 last year for 2 grand I was dreading the MOT results; surprisingly only needed a new balljoint and control arm, pleasantly surprised until it took me TWO DAYS of heating and beating, grinding and cursing to get the bloody rusted-in things out. Still, it's fixed now. One common issue is all the electronics for the radio, sat nav and amps are in the boot, right near a common water ingress point, causes a ton of electrical issues when this gets wet and involves tearing the whole lot out and replacing it with a sensible aftermarket headunit. Problem solved.
the emblem on the back is The Free French naval jack and French naval honour jack.
The argent rhomboid field is defaced with a gules Lorraine cross, the emblem of the Free French.
Will and Edwin, so excited for where this channel is headed. You’re carrying on the overdrive/top gear vibes and we’re all here for it.
One request is pls get Callum involved as a guest, you guys always had cracking chemistry.
If Dudley is "in Birmingham", Watford is "in London".
Mind you, it is really, so fair enough...........
Dudley is the Black Country
16:06 the twisted seatbelt is literally having my life 🤣🤣 This is even worse than buying a car from Birmingham..... Gip! 😂
Reminds me of that movie with Brad Pitt , SNATCH, when he rolls up to the caravan park that is populated by "travelers"...
Amazing Movie that was!

That low speed judder… mine had the same! Flush and refill the transfer box oil 👍🏻 fixed it for me
You only get one home land, you realise this right? And it's NOT your right to give it away, your forefathers fought and died to protect you from outsiders, and handed this to you as custodians to protect for future generations. Letting your politicians hand it away is unacceptable.
oh yeah, what about the forefathers that colonised half the world
you won't say that part will you??
For us Yorkshire folk it's Bradford, I ignore all cars for sale in Bradford as you know you are going to get ripped off or sold a Cat / stolen or otherwise worthless vehicle.
This feels like going out on an adventure with your mates to do something you have no earthly interest in, but it's your mates, so of course you'll have fun 😊
1:16 Dudley is within Birmingham? No it is not! Oh we're going to buy a car from London here's Essex that's in London! Oh we're Going to buy a car from Manchester the Cars in Bolton That's in Manchester. We're Going to Buy a Car from Wales, Cars in Shropshire that's in Wales! need I go on?
It's on the outskirts, and it's barely 10 minutes away until you're hitting DY postcodes, about same distance as other parts of Birmingham from the City Centre.
Voiceover mics need upgrading asap but it's great to see TDC get into it's groove 🙏
oh my days, I grew up right next to that museum at a place called gaydon. I went to a primary school at temple herdewyke's mod camp then later at gaydon primary then went to kineton high school. I visited the museum a few times, and also visited the jaguar land rover gaydon centre on a school trip, good memories even with tough upbringing, thank you tdc, glad you made it back safely. loving the channel.
Even before I started the video I thought Birmingham.
Driving through it is like being on the bumper cars at the fair. Everyone drives using The Force. - At Eleventy miles per hour. It's like the Wild West.
😂😂😂🤏🏻
Small heath is the worst cars with missing panels dents smashed windows burnt out shells and the standard of driving Jesus christ I've never been so angry
@@Carboy-z5y Small Heath is a toilet!! It's been like a third world country as long as I can remember.

Same thing with the same demographics in Liverpool (Australia). Not a straight panel to be seen
turns out, the spirit of CT lives on, and it turns out that Edwin was more of a driving force than I first assumed. This is quality work lads, loving the absolutely flying start you've had to the channel. well deserved.
Great video and can I also give big props to whoever edited, really solid!
I went to Birmingham to pick up some Porsche GT3 seats I purchased on eBay! Nobody spoke good English... I was taken down an old muddy lane to some disused falling down garages and told they were in there at the back of a pitch black garage with 7 Pakistani guys and me on my own... with a load of cash in my pocket! Not advised! I will never be returning thats for sure.
As a Brummie, yes buying a car from Birmingham isn't the best, especially having known lots of dealers having worked at BCA but I have to correct you on one thing, Dudley is not part of Birmingham
Rear parking sensors will almost definitely be the wiring loom in the bumper, gets brittle and cracks, bit of solder and shrink tube, jobs a goodun.
As a fan from Birmingham and whose mother is from Bradford after this video idk how i can defend my cities anymore but dammit I'll sink with them, a captain doesn't abandon their ship lol
that name of yours mate hmmm see some of us have opinions on certain ones being the problem and these certain ones have certain names.

Well I Drove To Bradford Once 123 miles 2 Hours 40 Minutes to see a car,I took one look at the salesman and jumped straight back into my car and headed back home as fast as I could 🤦🏼♂️🇬🇧
I once brought a mk4 golf gti from birmingham, the car was completely fine, very good condition, the guy covered my bus fare there, picked me up from the station. wouldn't say its a bad place to buy from
The term don’t buy a car from Birmingham comes from the 70’s as going back then they used to put a lot of salt on the roads so you could guarantee they would be rotten underneath, those days are gone and nowadays cars are treated underneath so really there is no more a risk buying a car from brum than anywhere else in the country.
A volvo estate has not been driven about by some tosser with a stud earring and neck tattoo compared to a bmw 1 series etc.
or who some psslmst thg@@qlus
Fun thing about that old Buick barge, it came with a factory heavy duty towing package that was unique to the buick, unlike its Chevy Caprice, and Oldsmobile Vista cruiser siblings. They were rated to tow between 5-6,000 lbs. And with it's Dyna-ride rear air ride, it would self level.
I'm not from anywhere near the UK and even my first guess was Birmingham
anywhere theres a lot of "Them" it becomes a slum in rapid fashion.
The whole countries a slum and still think there Great Britain with there ridiculous government and so called democracy
@@bigduphusaj162 Are you scared to say Muslims? 😂
U guys are evil, but also hilarious for using that BMW panic inducing Schrödinger-ding. Could be cold outside? Could be low headlight fluid? Maybe the engine dumped all its oil?
I need to put this as my notification sound lol
Wouldn't buy a car from London, Birmingham, Bradford, Luton. Glasgow.
Ha! I was at the British Motor Museum on Saturday, we had to go home early so were going to come back to look in the building you've shown. Didn't realise it had so many cars in, now I'm excited.
Good choice to start your own channel. Love it.
Im from Birmingham, and the word around here is never to buy a car from London 😂😂
I'm from Sutton Coldfield and have never bought a used car from Birmingham, go Staffordshire or Warwickshire. There is a common theme with all the cities/towns mentioned in the comments but can't be mentioned on YT.
Ive never made the connection i hope you mean before. But i feel like it makes some sense😂
That’s why it’s text only so you can’t figure it out. I always insist on a call before I drive to view a car.
@@null-gyes as soon as you hear the accent down the phone goes 😅
Yeah because cars from Liverpool or Glasgow are any better
Not even in Streetly?
If you put Birmingham and Bradford into a league table of places not to buy a car it would be the same as Celtic and Rangers in the SPL. Both fighting for top spot with everyone else squabbling over 3rd place.
Love the content keep it up! I'm always looking forward to an upload.
That’s what she said.

I hate to say it, thats a bloody good Range Rover for the money
Don't tell people from Dudley they are part of Brum!
Birmingham is city centre to about 3 miles radius.
dodgy city it is lol
Magnificent city... You shall never go there... Like to Luton
anywhere theres a lot of Them the place turns into a slum. Thats obvious now and its alarming how rapid they turn anywhere they go into a slum.

It’s complete junk, American garbage, honestly!
