In today's video, for the first time, I visited a new railfanning spot, called Howell Wye, located in Atlanta, GA. At Howell Wye, you're expected to see about 40 to 60 trains a day (both NS and CSX, including Amtrak 19 and 20).
I thought I was about to see at least 10 trains, but I probably picked the wrong time to arrive at Howell Wye. First, I saw a NB autorack, NS 18E, then I saw NS 283 which had the same power as on NS 240 from the previous video. A few minutes later, I saw a SB CSX manifest, which was CSX M647, had a CSX ES44AH and a CSX CM44AC. There was no other trains coming while I was waiting for M647 to move for almost a whole hour. Right after M647 started moving, I saw that M647 had military trucks (or Humvees). Moments after, a local that worked at Howell Yard, CSX L694, came out of the yard and I believe it was heading back to its destination, Union City, GA.
My outing at Howell Wye is not what I anticipated, but I got a decent number of trains on my first outing. Hopefully, I can see a higher number of trains on my next outing at Howell Wye.
If you want to check out the Howell Wye railcam (owned by RailStream), check it out right here: railstream.net...
As always, I'll see you guys in the next video, and Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸
