Great series, just a minor point, IL-8 is CXCL8 the same way that CCL3 is MIP-1a.

I am wondering as a smoker why it is that before I started smoking and smelling smokers it was a different smell than now when I am quiting smoking, when someone else in my vicinity is smoking it smells awful. Does the sense of smelling tobacco change after the body have experienced it?

I assume you had contact with it at some point and your body did a stand up job and sorted it. I had it, it was very minor cold.
