It does create a small pull on the rods. although I don't feel it's enough to cause much extra drag. I would move them, but the room in there was really limited with all the screw holes etc. I also wanted to maintain the 'pyramids' that help lock the position, the depth of them also dictates some limits on the positioning. I guess one option would be to go with carbon rods, although at the moment the x-motion appears quite slick.
