I was impressed by this elegant and simple rewinder design, and decided to build some. I found a few minor tweaks I needed to get it as I wanted - here's the changes and build instructions… Majority of STL's can be found here github.com/pure100kim/WinchRack_Type2/tree/main/V2/STLs My STL's and documentation can be found on printables - www.printables.com/model/840978-winchrack_type2-filament-re...

I'm making a number of spool rewinders for my Voron ERCF based on github.com/pure100kim/WinchRack_Type2 this is the 1st build. I plan to document the build process once completed.

Thanks for sharing, that was pretty cool!
I only remember Australian Idol and Big Brother being on alot in 2004
Just before the mass influx of the third world horde. Go to Perth now, looks like a foreign city. Breaks my heart.
Vote 1 nation 🇦🇺
the irony of white people in australia complaining about immigrants is so funny
pre brazilian invasion. great times.
I first visited Perth as a Backpacker in 2004. I was flat broke. I got a job with a South African bloke who had me as a labourer renovating a shop which is now Sayers Sisters on Lake St. I polished the concrete floors (no mask nothing) for $100 a day I thought I was living the dream back then 😂It became an Art Gallery. I live in Adelaide now but visit Perth once a month.. it's a different vibe now. Mind you it is everywhere - people are on edge, more. Less trusting. Social media and the internet has a lot to answer for I reckon.
whats changed in Perth? too many people? less locals??
very good idea.
Yes now 2024 and old big nose Basil has done nothing for Perth city. It is dirty and sadly there are homeless everywhere now. 2:22
are you on dialup and it took 20 years to finish uploading video?
Not sure what you're referring to. TH-cam didn't exist when it was recorded. It was uploaded four years ago. Just because something appears in your stream doesn't mean it's just been uploaded.
@@robandwend how loud was the whoosh when the joke flew over your head?
@@rrrohan2288 I'll let all the laughing emoji's and likes judge the joke.
to be back at school in year 10 again would be a dream i could make some smart life changes, loose weight, don't buy into a $30k rc hobby, save money for the future ect
real time machine..
I used to work at william St maccas from 2003-2005.... i was 15, and saw so many stabbings & overdoses... it put hairs on my chest
In 2024, driving around Perth is still the only thing to do there, haha. As Tim Minchin said, "Anyone with any real talent, leaves...." (the poms behind)
🙄🙄
Born and bred sandgroper are you, through generations…pom
I really miss the old Riverside Drive before Elizabeth Key. Travelled that route thousands of times since the late 70's with my parents to my Nannas in Belmont. How you've bent to international pressure and so called 'development' Perth. Nostalgia is an extremely powerful thing.
Disagree. Myself and plenty of others prefer it as it is now. As it was, the foreshore was a boring nothingness with no focal point and car-centric design. You can't complain about development and then say you missed an entire Riverside Drive cutting right across the foreshore. That's contradiction at its finest. Elizabeth Quay and surrounds now and will continue in future to provide a pedestrianised focal point along the northern banks of Perth Water. Sometimes, it's best to take off the rose-tinted glasses.
@@thevannmann You see, it's a great thing to be able to disagree with someone else, but it doesn't make you right. That's the thing about opinions - even assholes have them. No rose tinted glasses here. Have a great day. Muppet.
@@thevannmannis it still having issues with the river flow and causing algae. Never had that before.
Brilliant as usual Rob.
This really is a super cool design. What has put me off printing with multi-filament so far has been the solutions for rewinding the filament. I think I can now seriously get started on this topic. Thanks for the effort and this clever design.
What’s the cost of the BOM?
Fortunately all the components are farely cheap. Per unit it should be less that US$18 plus plastic, and screws. You'd also need a 5v or12v power brick (one can power multiple units since they don't tend to all run at the same time). However you'll see several items only come in packs of 5 or so, so the cost estimates relies on building more than one unit.
it would be great to machine or laser cut the sides with clear acrylic and just print the middle. looking forward to trying a protect like this. did ercf a year or two ago and had a terrible time with buffers and filament management.
Yes, I made the panels 3mm so I can just replace them with cut clear acrylic sheet.
Nice work- idea/ plan to add a heater for trying the filament?
At this point for me (living in hot dry W.Australia) I don't have a great drying need, so not for now. However I can certainly see it would be easy to add as a minimum some desiccant containers.
Nice work , waiting for ur project files

I love the color theme and modifications, especially the spool holder. I am looking to adding this holder for my rook. Is the STL for it available? Where can I get it?

Nice design, I hope you document and share more of your good ideas! :)
Offer this device to Creality and its stupid engineers
What an awesome idea!
I like it very much.
more great work on the mods Rob.
you are a genius!!! i implement this soon
Clever
Awesome! Love the idea! great thinking!
This is awesome! Does the speed change based on the diameter of the filament left on that spool? Or is change in speed negligible..
Nice. Very cool. I might need to build a few of these for my setup.
Nice 👍

Do you have any more info on the sherpa to fit the Bambu hotend?
This was from my miniaftersherpa design here - www.printables.com/model/562983-mini-aftersherpa-toolhead-design-for-bambulabs-hot
What does it do?
Works with filametrix to cut filament for ercf

do you by any chance have a github page for your tool changer rook 180?
github.com/robandwend/rook-180-extended - beware it's still a WIP
You'll need the Usermods page at -> github.com/robandwend/rook-180-extended/tree/main/UserMods/RobandWend
@@robandwend thanks i will take a look
COOL
Hi! quick question do you run this magnetic panel and nevermore mount to this day? very cool
Yes to both (when the filament requires a filter), although my Voron 0.1 is one of the least used of my printers. Often only used when my others are all busy.
Where did you find the mount for the nevermore?
I've put all the details here www.printables.com/model/254321-voron-01-mag-panel-addition-of-plugin-nevermore-fi
which settings do you used for it?
I had to throw the nevermore away and use The Filter due to that high pitch whine. Don't know how you can stand it.
The trick is to get old enough so your hearing starts failing - that’s worked for me 😊
@@robandwendpersonally I’ve just been to a lot of metal gigs so I’ve got raging tinnitus 😂
Thank you so much for this! Was just looking at your github yesterday. I’m looking to build something similar with slightly longer bed rather than a tool changer. I’d like to mess with tool changers down the road
I believe there's a couple of people doing extended beds, in the rook-180 mods forum. (discord.com/channels/946191040682008666/1061893328372773005) Using a simple insert like mine makes it an easy task, all you really need is to to buy longer rods. The extra room also makes fitting the electronics etc. in a lot easier.
This makes me want a X1C, just wish they werent so expensive
I hope you post more.
I love that red!❤
That's just awesome, I love the tool changer, I myself am wanting to build a 300X300X350 printer with a 5-tool changer set-up, also I want to build the standard Rook printer
Fortunately I had no problems with the screws. I printed the colour screws at 0.12 layer-height no supports and with a 3mm brim. If printing on a bed-slinger I can imagine at height, supports could be needed to stop any swaying. Speed wise - I printed on a bambu, so it was pretty fast. I did re-print the big nut with a 0.1 XY compensation to get an easier fit. I'm finding the more I'm using it, the smoother it runs.
How did you do supports for the screws? Also what speed? I printed the straight(est) screw just fine with a brim and 30mm/s, but the other screws I'm having real trouble with.
This is such a great idea! Having a tool-changer in a low-cost core-XY printer is great.
