The fellow playing lead guitar began writing this song while watching his young daughter Jessica running and skipping and generally bouncing around and having fun, he tried to catch the feeling of her activity in a guitar riff...then finished the writing of it later on.
Your timing couldn't be better for this. Guitarist Dicky Betts just passed away on April 18. He was the one with the white cowboy hat. He was 80 and died of cancer. Other Allman Brothers songs to check out are Whipping Post, Statesboro Blues, One Way Out, Rambling Man and In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.
Dickie Betts just passed away a few weeks ago. I saw the Allman Brothers in 1975 in Oakland when Gregg was seeing Cher. I could see Cher drunk and dancing below where we were sitting near the side of the stage. This band was one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Southern Rock at its best.
Great rock band from the 70's that mixed blues, jazz & country music in their sound. They had lots of great songs such as "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", "Statesboro Blues", "Whipping Post", "Melissa", "Blue Sky", "Ramblin' Man" etc. "Jessica" is one of my favorites instrumental songs by them. It was written by guitarist Dickey Betts & named after his daughter.
The Allman Brothers Band was my second concert, back in 1977, seen them a few more times since. And "Jessica" was played at all the shows. A fantastic instrumental song by Dickey Betts and the boys. "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" is another great instrumental by them.
When do you ladies sleep? Great reactions. I love the three generations of reaction. I also love southern rock and the Allman Brothers. Greetings from Canada.
Amazing musicians. The rest of the band would be rock steady while people took their turns with solos. I like the song Whipping Post but it's probably not for everyone.
Great reaction introducing Lulu to some great classic southern rock. R.I.P. Duane Allman and Dickie Betts. The piano player Greg Allman has his own band called The Greg Allman Band and was married to Cher for awhile. Should check out his song I'm No Angel.
The best jam band in the land! I know you can't do a reaction to it, but you need to listen to The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East. It ranks as one of the top live albums of all time!
Greg was playing the Hammond Organ the guy on the piano was a studio musician i think anyway that was the late great Dicky Betts on lead guitar.Lulu is so funny with her hair comments lol.great song and reaction😂
Wrong. 1 left. Per Wiki : John Lee Johnson (born July 8, 1944), frequently known by the stage names Jai Johanny Johanson and Jaimoe, is an American drummer and percussionist. He is best known as one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band and, with the death of Dickey Betts on April 18, 2024, he is the last surviving original member of the band.
If it wasn't for the Allman Brothers, so much of the music we hear today would not exist. They completely created the "southern rock" genre and influenced so many others.
Saw them in San Francisco in 74 or 75. They were about as good as it gets live. They just about blew the roof off of the place. Jessica was always such a mood lifter, it was time to get up and boogie when the Allman Brothers came on the radio. R I P Dickie, thanks for the licks.
In my humble opinion, not before or since has rock witnessed a more lethal twin guitar attack, or maybe assault is a better descriptor, than that of Duane 'Skydog' Allman and Forrest Richard 'Dickey' Betts. The two of them together in the same band on dual lead guitar actually wasn't fair to other bands of that era. It doesn't get more technically proficient at every instrument than the ABB!
Well a good old fashion instrumental LOL 😂 I got to be honest I am not fond of instrumentals, The Allman Brothers got some good songs that they sing while they play LOL 😂, but it was a great reaction 👍🏼 LOL 😂 , we'll leave it at that LOL 😂 😆 keep up the good work 3G 🌹👏🏼🔥🤟🏼✌🏼🤌🏼
One of my all time favorite songs.
Love love love❤❤❤ the Allman Brothers. Love Live at Fillmore East 1971.
"Jessica". The epitome of what Southern Rock is all about.
The fellow playing lead guitar began writing this song while watching his young daughter Jessica running and skipping and generally bouncing around and having fun, he tried to catch the feeling of her activity in a guitar riff...then finished the writing of it later on.
This is southern rock and roll extraordinaire! ❤❤❤🎸👍👍🤘🤘
R.I.P. Dickey Betts
Allman Bros at Florida University. Great Concert. Thank you.
I'm old enough to remember when it was about the music. Great reaction.
Thanks for the reaction!

In the UK in the 1980's and 90's, the popular TV car show TopGear used this as their theme tune.
You need to watch them live at the Fillmore East with all the original band members including Gregs brother Duane Allman
@Musicmanrobert I did see them with Barry Oakley

Dickey and Dangerous Dan ripping it up. Nice.
It's TOP GEAR time again!

I totally believed you when you said nanny didn’t listen to them. She was old school. when rock wasn’t even a thing yet.
Hey Kathy, Lulu, Donna, and Jessica..... You all should react to the '73 live version of Hocus Pocus by Focus! 🙂
Another southern rock song suggestion is There Goes Another Love Song, i think by the Outlaws.
no purple shampoo in Gregg's heyday😏
Best known in UK as the theme tune for TOP GEAR. Check it out
❤🎉😊

Whipping post by the Allman Bros Band
Also, the three of you look like you're from here in Ireland. Ye all have Irish heads on ye😂
This song was released in 1973 not 1982
Okay Donna , was Kathy anything like Lulu when she was young ? Sweet Melissa would be another great Allman Brothers song to do .
No, actually, Lulu takes after her Aunt Kathy's sister.
@@KathyLuluandDonna and here I was always told " someday you're going to have one just like you ".
