- We start this film with a brief stop at Paddock Wood to see 70013 Oliver Cromwell BR 7MT "Britannia" Class, race through the station en route from Waterloo to Folkestone Harbour, for three runs along the 1 in 30 branch line. Apart from the number 72 to Cheriton getting in the way, all went well. On the the second run up the branch look out for the women at the level crossing being dragged away by her two terrified dogs. The future of the line is still very much in doubt, although it seems the line will now be mothballed. The "Remembrance Line Association" has been set up to try and save the line. Fantastic video James. Well done for capturing what was a momentous day from so many angles. It was nice to meet you after the final departure. It's always good to put a face to the names on here.
Thanks for a great reminder of the day with this video, was on the train and this is a fantastic souvenir of it all.
Stunning stuff! This is probably the best video I've seen of 70013 on the Folkestone Harbour Branch.
Great coverage of a great day with 70013.
Great vid!
That ending is very good.
best video i have seen on here of 70013 done a good job nice on a dvd that will good one A++++++++ 100%
5* good video watched it all . Wish I gone there for the day.
A really nice video, well made
That last departure sent shivers up my spine!
Why didn't the level crossing barriers lower? Was it a malfunction? 8:10
I seem to remember the crossing was managed by attendants who put manual barriers in place when it was time for departure. I don't think the signal box was controlling movements or equipment, the barriers at the crossing further up the line were controlled locally by an attendant.
Just saw dog bit Brilliant
i was at paddock wood! did u see me? i was the boy with the tripod!! and where you the guy told to stand back other drivers will moan? awsome video
now the track is nearly all gone. the harbour level crossing is not there but the other crossing is but it is all chained up. abd soon the old line will be turned into a walk way for people.
It's good the company that own the line now have kept the majority of the track, and although now a walkway, the decking can be removed easily should they want to run trains again. Tbh, it would only be a good thing in future to run trains again, as a money generator with shuttles up and down the line, and visiting railtours. Knowing someone who is a manager there, he says it will likely happen one day.
Brilliant video.. Typical example of a Stagecoach bus driver though.. selfish company which has blighted the whole country with it's awful red white blue & orange and crap service. Lovely to see Ollie Cromwell running. That was my first ever Hornby steam engine too way back in the 60s.
