Lucky find👍things are hard to get nowadays! Need 2 of everything! My sons crank went out in his motocross bike, and no date for one to get. Just went ahead, and bought another one
Good video…… I just had a similar video of a rough day that we had, I definitely like the background videos that show what we actually go through behind the scenes and hold our heads up high and just overcome it sounds like you’re off to a great start in your first full time 💯
Man I’m surprised you made it that long on a single clutch! My 61 went out at 190 hours and my 52 went out at 55 hours. Luckily both under warranty. My dealer had the clutch and I took it too him and they had it replaced in under 45 minutes. I just waited on it.
@@HandyGuy2016 I thought about buying a spare because I know they are hard to come by and they won’t get any cheaper. Yeah I can’t believe they went out so quick.
If you ever are “brand shopping”- it being just you and your kids- take a trip to a walker dealer and do a demo. Cannot say enough about my local Dealer/techs and walker as a whole. I could really see you appreciating what they are doing and I’m sure they would love to have you and your family.
@handyguy_2016 I don’t mean to tell you something you may likely well know- just having watched your content for awhile I could see just being a great fit and friendship. Unfortunately there’s not a ton of walker content creators and your humble, responsible, thoughtful, open minded approach would be a addition

That's a lucky find alright! I'm dealing with a similar issue, trying to get a blade clutch for Billy Goat walk behind brush cutter, cos it's more than 5 years old they don't stock the parts for it and don't seem too interested - frustrating! Good video Bud 👍
My local dealers don't have parts and can't even get more than a handful of machines to sell. Not bashing them at all, it's not because they are not trying to have stock.
Did you ever figure out what the problem was with this mower? If it is a clutch that is bad and it is not available I found a place that fabricated a clutch for my Ferrari for a very good price. That actually isn't a bad price. The dealer quoted me over a thousand dollars for the clutch and the company out of Tennessee I believe was something ;like a hundred bucks. I don't have the car anymore but I will try and find the company who made the clutch for me. I found a Porsche 914 GT6. factory race car in a barnyard out in Western Pa and I am very slowly restoring it. I have to build a rotisserie next after I get everything disassembled. I am still recovering from getting run over on my 1957 Harley Panhead a little over 18 months ago that almost took my right leg due to it being crushed . I remember getting flipped up and slammed around a telephone pole in front of my Dad's house.. I crawled up the driveway all the while feeling like I was drowning. Evidently The crush had created a blood clot that broke loose and went to my heart and lungs. When my brother got me to the hospital the surgeons said that I had less than six minutes left to live if I had not gotten there. That is an only specific time limit but I believe them. It has been a terrible journey back to almost the way I was before that accident. All I really remember was seeing a huge white F350 in my mirror and then my world got spun around and up and down and around the telephone pole. I had to learn to walk again and I am walking without assistance but I put on over a hundred pounds while I was laid up. I lost over 60 so far but I still have about 40 to go. I was actually going for classic physique body building and ate only chicken and rice before the accident. After the accident my friends started bringing me pizzas and all sorts of other stuff and I can't believe what a fatty I turned into . I figure I should be back in shape in another couple months though. I am only now able to work and I decided I am not going back to big Pharma where I am a chemical engineer. I am starting a small engine repair shop and doing fabrication and machining on small engines and engine drive welders. Sorry for the story but I got carried away .
Awesome story and it sounds like you know what you want for your future which is great 👍 It was a bad clutch and the plug to the clutch, but I have it fixed and going again. I did end up going with after market due to the price and backorder parts.
We have had to replace the clutch on our "Ferris 3200" three times in the past 1600 hrs. It seems like those clutches only last about 400-600 hrs for us.
@@HandyGuy2016 check voltage and ground at the clutch connector. If you have corrosion or resistance in the line somewhere the clutch will not fully lock in and you will smoke it. Good thing you got an extra. Knock on wood, i haven't had any problems yet, replaced the first clutch in a friends grandstand at 1282 hours.
I don’t like this update. Makes me think I better get a couple on order. I have two Z3X 61” but I don’t want to be without either one of them. Ferris is really struggling to get mowers and parts to market.
Just had this happen to me on my 2019 z3x 52 just over 100 hours , my local dealer was able to get it ordered but it did take 2 weeks to get the clutch assembly in, Ferris has noticed the problem with the clutches and is suppose to be issuing a recall and releasing a new clutch for these models, my dealer took my unit number so it’s in the system to get replaced when the recall is issued, recall will be covered through Ferris (all info from my local dealer) hope this helps 👍
So i have to ask, why can you find clutch(s) and dealers cannot or won't? If a dealer wanted to take care of their customers they would look under every rock to help. Just sayin'.
i sold my x540 garden tractor because i was no longer using it, then 3 days later my only mower, deere z915e ztr, broke down. took it to a dealer they said it would be the end of this month before they could look at it. and no one around has a demo or a rental. so i was without a mower. so i sent and bought a new scag tiger cat 2 61in and have hated it ever since. i still yet might sell or trade it on something
@@HandyGuy2016 I run Ferris Z3 as well and have an extremely close relationship with the local Dealer. The parts shortages are getting worse than anyone believes. So I contacted Warner... They are saying the part number 5228-45 doesn't mate with my serial number... However they do sell a part number 5228-85 (sales restricted to Briggs and Stratton dealers only) .... Double the cost from the dealer. 5228-45 is about 260 on their website.... 5228-85 is 520 from my dealer.... I'm wondering if they are the same part? Edit :I called Ferris and asked for my machines production date... May 7th 2019. Im thinking 5228-45 will work?
@@HandyGuy2016 I'm guessing the 5228-85. But again... Through dealer only for double the cost... No thanks. Great video... I ordered a new clutch yesterday and a come along and straps... All just in case. Luck favors the prepared.

Yeah, it seems like the parts situation is with everything right now.
A week ago I had a clutch issue as well. The wiring harness that plugs into the clutch the wires pulled out of it.
Same thing happened to me on this one because the clutch bracket broke after replacing the clutch 🤦

Don't get me wrong, I like my mowers but I am extremely frustrated right now. 850 hrs is a lot but also not a lot for a commercial mower/motor.
