    Why wasn't the memory at 2133 speed, it showed 1866. Why had not the motherboard set the timings at 2133 ??

    Hello, Compare HP Z840 and Dell T7910. Which workstation is better?

    did exactly what you did, added memory, swapped v3 processor for beefy 2680v4 and all I get is 5 red blink lights and 5 beeps can't get the darn thing to to boot soooooo frustrated

      You have to subtract and add components to figure out what is causing the issue. Did you update the bios first? What wattage power supply do you have?

    On my dell precision 3620 I have 16gb of memory ram in mine..

    Hey man would you possibly know why I can only put ram on CPU1 and not on CPU0 ..I have 64gb on ram on CPU1 because that is all it will allow me to do...I see I have two processors working in task manager, just can’t add ram to slots/computer won’t boot. Thanks!

      Do you have 2 physical processors installed on the motherboard?

    • @onefivedoor2
      @onefivedoor2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome thanks for your reply sir! I do have both processors and they show up in task manager when I right click for the view of both working. I got a response fro, HP that said mixed ram won’t work blah blah but if they worked separately before then they should work! At any rate I can’t get ram to recognize on CPU0 if I try and go back to original ram placement. In your opinion will I lack performance if I just kept 64gb at one cpu? Guess it may be what I’ll have to do and just wait a couple years for a new rig. Love the video! Gives me lots to think about for next rig.

    I currently have 8x16 GB memory installed and I want to upgrade to 256GB. So I wonder if I have to get another 8x16GB or is it possible to get 4x32GB or 2x64GB so I have more slots in the future. Could you please advise? Thanks

    What's the actual real-world RAM capacity? Can this handle 512GB or 1TB of RAM, even if unofficially?

    • @GreenPCGamerscom
      @GreenPCGamerscom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The max memory that we've installed in the Z840 is 1TB. It was a 16 x 64GB Configuration. We haven't been able to get our hands on the 128GB modules yet.

      @@GreenPCGamerscom oh right, that's pretty good, so maybe 2TB is a potential possibility in the future?

    • @GreenPCGamerscom
      @GreenPCGamerscom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible, if HP releases a Bios update that will allow it. I can't imagine opening up a program that would require 2TB of memory. However, I'm sure it could be done =)

      @@GreenPCGamerscom no single program would, but I can think of a few use cases where you can utilise that volume of RAM at a reasonable speed (2666Mhz DDR4), if RAM wasn't so expensive I'd personally be looking into getting myself a Z840 just to see if it does actually support 2TB of DDR4 RAM, because the chipset does support that amount of RAM If I am not mistaken, it would be a truly formidable computer for at least the next 5-7 years, well, for RAM capacity it would be, you would lose out on the lack of Hyperthreading due to recent security mitigations, but I know that workarounds for Linux are being developed to reduce its impact, not sure of anything in regards to Windows 10 and its future ability to reduce the loss of performance caused by the various security mitigations + the loss of Intel Hyperthreading (Simultaneous Multi-Threading)

      We've opened some very large 3D Models that were able to eat up over 100GB of memory. Other than that, we've mainly use large amounts of memory for virtualizing. It sounds like we were only scratching the surface =). Thank for the valuable comments!

    I like your videos except for the added competition it might create on eBay. Can't seem to access your website from the UK though. Need a VPN. I found your videos because I have a slight HP workstation addiction. Currently finishing a maxed-out Z820 for professional applications. Dual E5 2697 V2, 256GB PC3-14900R, Dual 12GB Quadro K6000 and not decided on storage yet - came with 4 x 4TB HDD plus 4 SATA III SSDs! Have a maxed out Z400 with an RTX 2070 in it for gaming but want to upgrade that to a Z420 or even Z440. Have about 10 different HPs now 😳

      Hey Michael, I have recently bought a Z840 with dua Xeonl 2680v4. Do you have any tips on increasing performance as the system constantly runs at base speed of 2.4ghz. It's great for rendering but for all other things a bit on the slow side. Thanks.

    on the RAM it is written 2133 MHz but in the bios only 1866 showed up, why is that?

    • @GreenPCGamerscom
      @GreenPCGamerscom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. The E5-2630 V3 processors are limiting our memory speed to 1866Mhz. If you installed processors that support 2133P, the modules would run at 2133. Here are the Intel docs: ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/83356/intel-xeon-processor-e5-2630-v3-20m-cache-2-40-ghz.html
      Look at "Memory Specifications" to see "Memory Types" Supported. In this case the E5-2630 V3 supports DDR4 1600/1866.
