- Once again, I’m alive, been a while since I did this kinda video. With the new Fire Emblem game out, I wanted to do so once more, since these are the main videos people know me for nowadays.
For this series I skipped one of the Alear forms to avoid showing the same, or similar convo twice. Due to the fact the supports seem to be the same for both Alears, I’m not going to film fem Alear.
Because this is a more traditional FE game, we have three supports per unit. We also have the equivalent of an S support but only for Alear and the other units. I filmed the S Pact Ring supports in advance so Alear’s will come last.

Hortensia is one of the most well written characters in the game in the supports probably. I love how she's way beyond a spoiled and somewhat narcissistic princess-- but she's a child who was forced to mature way beyond her age. Her acting towards Veyle is very natural in the beginning if you consider she just saw how Veyle laughed at how her dad died and also used her dad as a zombie to spite Ivy (her idol figure). But Hortensia when she drops the spoiled princess act is wise beyond her years while retaining her somewhat childlike attitude. Her support with Ivy is very heartwarming and how she dealt with Alcryst was surprisingly mature.
Yeah, Hortensia may seem like a spoiled brat at first glance, but her Supports clearly show that she's actually very sweet and nice, and that she cares a lot about her friends and her comrades in arms. She also reminds me of myself, where I myself have been spoiled and sometimes act like a selfish brat, but my family knows that my heart's in the right place. And her character is really tragic, since she feels inadequate compared to her sister, her father is used as a puppet for Sombron, and she follows his orders along with Ivy purely for his approval when he was a good father to her. I relate to her very well, as I've had my fair share of trauma regarding my father, how he went from being a great father to a shell of his former self, using me only as a tool for his selfish goals...
Not to mention, Hortensia is just way too adorable! Seriously, this girl has a lot of ways to melt your heart, whether it be her adorable voice lines, heartwarming supports, or just gazing at her adorable self.
Hmmm, debatable. I mean, yeah, you could make the argument that Veyle being under Sombron's control doesn't change the fact that she killed Hortensia's father while laughing mad... except we're talking about the very same man who did all kinds of horrible things himself when under Sombron's control (including the murder of Diamant and Alcryst's father), many of which Hortensia was complicit in of her own free will out of a desperate attempt to earn his approval. Maybe she just doesn't have it in her to hate her father, but it still makes her come off as fairly hypocritical. And considering Hortensia talks about how she wishes she had the power of a Fell Dragon, one could argue that she really (initially) hated Veyle because she was just jealous of her power and she latched onto Veyle killing her father as a scapegoat to avoid admitting the real reason.
@@joseph86255 She never really denied that she was hypocritical or wrong when she was called out and later on she did admit her own mess (she shows this a lot in more than one support like Alear, Alcryst and Veyle). She is still in the end a sheltered teenage child that of course got traumatized when she saw her father eaten alive and was laughed at about, that’s why her coping method was bad, at the same time Ivy, Goldmary and Rosado all left her too. But the way she handled the loose ends later on shows that she wants to move forward about the situation and that’s really big for a sheltered kid who got slapped with reality.
@@seikakurumiwari Well, there's a reason I said "debatable" specifically. Truth be told, there's a reason people consider envy to be a sin- it often leads to a lack of empathy. Being jealous of people having what you don't blinds you to the fact that they have problems just like everyone else. And that's exactly what happened with Hortensia with Veyle, since she never stopped to consider the pain being a Fell Dragon caused her or what she went through. In any case, the fact that we can have discussions like this proves that this is still a Fire Emblem game.

I honestly must congratulate the voice actress for doing Hortensia, she did a splendid job. I couldn't think of anyone else voicing Hortensia so perfectly like that. And I also love Hortensia's design and personality.

Hortensia is best girl, with Ivy a very close second. Honestly, both of the Elusia princesses are surprisingly complex and fun characters. :D

I can definitely see why Hortensia, Rosado and Goldmary get along so well. All of them are very proud of their looks. Rosado just isn't as in your face about it as the other two.

I love Hortensia. She could’ve been just a one note annoying brat, but she really isn’t. She’s actually really vulnerable underneath her brash cuteness veneer, and she’s a great foil for Alcryst lol.

Elusia isn't evil, though; they may worship the Fell Dragon, but the characters you recruit want to restore their country by defeating the Fell Dragon, who is the source of Elusia's troubles.

I didn't reach her supports in my first playthrough but when I did. Everything about her is so precious and I want to protect her too.
Say what you will about Hortensia, but honestly I think this girl has some of the best supports in the game.
Admittedly I was turned off by her due to he rather grating voice and her design being too... loud for my liking. After reading some of her supports with Veyle, Ivy, Alcryst, and Lindon though, she really grew on me as a character.

Honestly can not get over how much I really like Hortensia considering I hated her design and found her voice annoying at the beginning, not hating her VA of course. She’s one of the better written characters in this game which I was not expecting at all. And really her voice and design make sense. She’s young and wants to be shown as cute which explains why she’s so extra in how she looks. The theming works which makes me put that stuff I hated before aside

You know what's really embarrassing? Engage's writers made Hortensia a more well-written character than Nintendo and Intelligent Systems did for a lot of their other cooler characters.

Nope. I looked up the JPN script and Hortensia specifically said that it was a competition for softer and squishier skin.
Here's the line in question: "さっそくだけど勝負よ！どっちがお肌ぷにぷにか選手権！" In English, it would be "It's sudden, but we'll have a match! To see who is the Soft And Squishy Skin Champion!"
Togami do you have any tips for farming the supports? I found it easy with the ones you are using frequently, but the ones that kept warming the bench? How did you farm them efficiently/fast?
If I had to take a guess: Make sure to frequently have meals with characters with each opportunity, give gifts frequently, and grind skirmishes on early chapter maps by having your units bunched up and have the enemy smash into the wall of your well leveled troops.
Unfortunately it’s a bit more difficult to farm supports between other units. Between alear it’s just gifts, but you can’t merge two units into one, if the other is weaker, and you don’t get points during the enemies turn :(
@@Xxsorafan well, the only thing I found out is using Byleths Engage and have 4 support units surround that unit. Using instruct as well as Dance gives a good amount of points. Have favourite meal equipped and give the supported unit the packed lunch so he can use Byleths Engage twice. That and ofc arena and eating meals.
@@Tsuki2k you can also boost the speed with corrins quality time skill and give alear corrin to constantly light them on fire so quality time works
