    You hit the nail on the head! Some of the best advice I've seen. Unbiased and direct. Good work, mate. Trucks are another aspect you could have gone into a little bit. Double king pin vs reverse king pin. With the latter better for heavier riders/high speed riding for stability and dkp better for low speed, carving and lighter riders.
    Over the years I've been in esk8, I've ridden different boards and owned two, currently onto building my second high-performance DiY. My first board was the evolve carbon gtr. Aesthetically, it was a beautiful looking board, but the performance and quality of the price point at the time was horrendous. The motors failed within the first week and evolved, voided my warranty, citing "rider error."
    Since that piss poor experience with those muppets I started my journey into DiY.
    My first DiY was aimed at high range and moderate torque/top speed, and it's an incredible ride for long distances.
    My next DiY is high power, high range, and heavy torque. A completely different riding experience.
    My experiences with that evolve gtr board, company, and surrounding culture (SEQ esk8 group). In Queensland, Australia, nearly ruined my opinions of pev and the pev community due to the cult like mindset, hostilities towards anyone outside of evolve or who dont fit the self serving ideals of the "leaders/ambassadors", heavy drug and alcohol use and reckless riding, piss poor and dangerous advice overall they have gained pretty bad reputation with the locals and police.

      @Boardandbrazen Mate, I can go into so much detail about why DiY is needed and my experiences with certain "ambassadors/leaders" that have garnered my current opinions and views. There's a lot I can say.
      I've also met and made some amazing connections within esk8, especially two guys who are always amazing to talk to and get advice from who I will always back and support. So it ain't all bad.
      Coming across your video was a surprise. Most are biased or paid reviews, or they only read from the brochure with barely any thoughts of their own (esk8unity being one. Great carving videos, poor reviews).
      You do solid work. Keep it up, ride safe and respect.🙏

    Great concept for a video Jamie, back in 2018 when I bought my first Eskate there was very little choice and Evolve were head and shoulders above the rest hence my first few boards were Evolve, being a big guy myself I have always suffered with range issues but thankfully battery technology has come on leaps and bounds over the past few years and hopefully range anxiety will become a thing of the past.
    The choice of Boards and manufacturers today is great but very daunting, this series of Videos will be of great benefit to both those starting out on their Eskate journey and those wishing to upgrade and expand their horizons.

    • @Boardandbrazen
      @Boardandbrazen  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The wowgos are very much the ‘cheap and cheerful’ end of the spectrum . A 13 mile range on a board with these motors at 280lb, depending on road surface / side walk quality and hills would likely get you 7-10 miles. Which might be enough to begin with as you get used to controlling the board and the using the power .

    Which electric skateboard would you recommend for getting around my college campus?
    Considering I'm 6'3" and weigh about 240lbs (not counting backpack and such). I'm trying to look for something somewhat lightweight (though I understand this might be a bit difficult given my size), relatively quiet, able to brake quickly to avoid any accidents, and can handle turns smoothly without needing too much space. Range isn't a huge deal for me, as long as it can go more than 10 miles. I was looking into the meepo Envy but I saw a reddit post where people recommended the Tynee Mini 3 instead of the Envy but I'm not sure if it'll hold my weight.

    • @Boardandbrazen
      @Boardandbrazen  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey , thanks for checking in . The tynee ultra has had great reviews . The mini boards aren’t awful for us bigger guys, they are pretty good fun. Way less stable than a longboard and demand a bit more flexibility in the hips (in my opinion) .
      I’ve been enjoying a Veymax cejour over the last few weeks the extended range board would very likely fit what you are looking for. . The Meepos are solid boards , I’ve had a Hurricane a mini 2er and a V5 with an er battery . .
      For portability longboards with handles are unrivaled . Mini boards are okay but can be awkward to carry . The trucks are thick and the battery/esc enclosures are close together . Try and get a test ride if you can and see what you enjoy 👍

      Despite losing range , the Hurricane was a good, stable and capable board. I like the concave and the length of the deck meant I count move around a bit and reduce foot fatigue.
      I haven’t played with the flow but I have roamed a surf skate skateboard and a Meepo mini . If the the flow is the love child of those , that would be carving for ‘days ‘ . The portability of the flow can’t be ignored. I had to install a handle on the Hurricane to drag it around comfortably

I commute to work on the weekends with this and about half my trip is up hills. 10-15% grade. But it drains my battery. I’m usually down to 50% by the time i get half way and just shy of making it to work.. I love the board overall, the torque is great for me and I get relatively good speed for being 253lbs.. but I really need something with a longer range or extended battery life. Anyone have any ideas if I could upgrade the battery or a better board I should look into that would be more fit for me?

      In theory you could upgrade the battery and enclosure . I think your board is a 12s2p , you could upgrade to a 12s4p etc . But for the price of a battery and the aggravation . There are some purist that would argue that a summer board is the closest experience to snowboarding . But it’s not very practical for general riding . There is also the opportunity to ride boards with bindings to replicate the edge to edge control but , they tend to be Mountainboard style and generally don’t give the carve without very specific truck setups . Or for the crazies out there , electric surf skate setups 😅 they look like bedlam and I have not seen one in the flesh .

Electric skateboard urethane wheels will handle bumps , cracks and curb drops. If you want trail too , you really need pneumatic or rubber composite . All the board below are those options not urethane (purely because you mentioned track) . Most one these below have a urethane option if you prefer skate wheels
