Ty for this vid on the knock sensor as this is the only DIY vid I could find that shows how to get to main coolant housing under the manifold. This is also the worst engine I've ever had to fix and shut is everywhere but in front of you lol
Update draining vehicle. Bolt extractor socket didn't work due to clearance . So I went back to corroded side hit It with a torch lighter around bolt got a longer handled 1/2 in rachet and it broke free. Resuming job.
hey guy i to think this is an exceptional video ,So I am in the near future goin to be restorin my VG33E so it is really, really important I mean really important that i'm able to acess ur VG33E vides i'v got them saved to my watch later and all that but I dont trust You Tube no futher than i can throw them and they won't let me down load without premium so if i have to pay somone i rather it be u so just wondering if u had any intrest or thought's on my situation
A cheap and poor aftermarket brand was used in the valve cover, but for the lower manifold I did not trust using it. Its best to use the genuine Nissan dealer gasket. The aftermarket brand gasket uphold for 20,000 miles and leaks return. Always use the genuine Nissan parts. Avoid aftermarket parts, unless you love doing repeated work.
@@Stevexnycautomotive I know what you mean, I got 235,000 on the engine and I have to do the driver side cat but I also going to do the valve covers and intake
The original OEM manifold gaskets are more like stainless sheet metal shims, shape into gasket joints. The video shows all the info. If the coolant is to become toxic it will errode the aluminum alloy to cause leaks.
You can but a better product is PERMATEX HALAMAR spray on gasket maker. Too much RTV silicone might eject itself into the port. Another good sealant is INDIAN HEAD GASKET SEALANT.
Do you recall the torque spec you used for the lower manifold? I replaced it with an OE gasket and the service manual says a max of 7ft lbs. This seems low and I just want to make sure I won't have another leak. Thanks.
used 10-14 lbs-ft. Here is another important part to that lower intake manifold service that was not added to this video. th-cam.com/video/Yudp_lkQ9p8/w-d-xo.html
Hello I managed to get the upper manifold off but unfortunately one of the engine block coolant bolts is stripped and the other side corroded and won't budge looks like dried up white junk. Can I continue with job without draining and damaging vehicle? Thanks mike

This is a great video. I been watching it and rewinding it while doing mine. You even got me calling it the plenium now. Thanks for the info.
The phillips screws for the injectors are JIS.

Great video! I thought the coolant was leaking from the gasket. Shouldn't the manifold gaskets be replaced to fix this?

Thanks for the reply. I purchased new OE gaskets. Would you recommend using RTV on the gasket?
