  • I was getting sick of the smoke from my laser cutter/engraving machine and I wanted to get it off the work bench and away from the excess dust in the shop. So I built this enclosure with lift, exhaust and lighting. As promised in the video, here are some links for good demonstrations of LED lighting:
    • Small Custom Closet Bu...
    • LED Lit Display Shelves
    • Custom Built-In Illumi...
And here are some links to the parts, lift mechanism and fans I used:
    Inline Duct Fan: a.co/d/gmVnrpm
    Wheels: a.co/d/0GFsv2C
    Switches: a.co/d/3UTkxks
    Red Guarded Switch: a.co/d/dpIiOEt
    Spring Hinges: a.co/d/h5zn4FE
    Scissor Lift: a.co/d/9iHtbiu
    Low Voltage Wire: a.co/d/ec8kdBb
    LED lights: a.co/d/gXPApYI
    LED connectors: a.co/d/1e5j02R
Everything else I got at Home Depot or 3D printed.

    Serious enclosure envy. Very cool!

Hey it is cool to know you are an A&P. Bromotrifluoromethane halon 1301. Rather than use a dry chemical ABC type extinguisher there is another fire extinguishing agent that Cirrus aircraft developed because of the issues with halon 1301. I saw it for sale at Home Depot and like halon 1211 it can be used in enclosed spaces it is called prepared Hero Fire Spray. I thought I would pass that along! 😁🛫

From a distance, this looks like it could be used to make a mean BBQ brisket. 👍🏼👍🏼

i dig that bent orange plexi👌🏻. I may steal that trick for my enclosure haha👊🏻

You shouldnt be giving the fire such easy access to the enclosure....
Great build! Everytime I watch something on a laser or a CNC I want one. However I have very little use for one.

Fantastic! Best I managed was a big square box, and now I have enclosure envy. The lift was a great idea (thanks for the link to it). I just built mine extra tall, so I could put the legs on it when I needed to rotary something, but this is so much better and now I'm rethinking all my life choices. 😁 Great job!

This is really neat! I don’t have one of these and probably won’t buy the concept is ingenious and could be applied for other things. I don’t get the electronics part like wiring and certainly 3D printing but it’s amazing and fun to watch! I’d love to see more detail on that part just because it’s fascinating. I’m on the building side of things but wiring is useful for any build involving tool storage and work surfaces. Look forward to more builds

3 comments: #1, that scrap leather looks awfully familiar. 😂. #2, I still say you need copper safety wire on your red safety switch. 😂.
#3, Always enjoy seeing your work; thanks for sharing!

Brilliant work, dude! Really well done! 😃
Those machines are amazing, but the smoke is pretty nasty... But that indeed solves the issue!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Great build! I'll try to replicate this once I buy my Sculpfun S30 Ultra. It has a 600x600mm work area so it's going to be a bit bigger than yours. Loved the concept, kudos from Brazil.

Wow very nice! Tha turned out great! Last week I built a camera holder for my Atomstack Camera, I was not impressed with the original mount it was to easy to bump and knock out of alignment. I made the mount to stratal my Longer Ray laser from the front to back out of 1/2 square 16 gauge tubing. I would not not use a laser without camera after getting it calibrated with Lightburn. I am weird that way. Just like I will never use a band saw without a brake. I like that lift too! 😁🛫

    Nice build,
Made a similar build with the additon of opening slots on the sides for "long" objects.
Which work for my laser that is elevated on the sides.

I strongly considered adding those, but I figured if I really need to do something big, I’ll use my second laser on a table or something for that. It would be a fairly rare occasion.

    Hello from a French handyman.
Very nice video, explicit, and educational.
Do you have the ability to share 3D files for ventilation?
    Thanks in advance.

Mine was an off-cut from a custom metal shop that was building enclosures for welding combustion cases for jet engines, so I don’t have exact spec, but you can get what you need here: lasersafetyindustries.com/products/windows-acrylic-sheet-class-4-450?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2a6wBhCVARIsABPeH1v7fEHfZiqu95ARwkEO4GCEEEMAW9F64P1IP2qngrcL-iZ-Alg2wOkaAuY7EALw_wcB

I didn’t buy it, I know someone who worked at a custom metal fabrication company and gave me the off-cuts from the welding screens that they were making.

I’m not a lightburn expert. When I got the machine, I set it up in this video: th-cam.com/video/Wyo4g6N6aJE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-QMZ-6olFXGcUZ3j. I don’t know if that will help, but it is how I set it up and I’ve never had a problem. You might want to try the Atomstack community on Facebook, they are really responsive.
